39 It may have been overkill

The next day at the camp, the Class A students were dead tired.

Aizawa mercilessly shook them awake at 5:30 am, ignoring their complaints.

Wearing their Yuei's sweatsuit.

Once they all gathered at a rather clear spot, Aizawa began to talk, officially starting the school trip.

"Today we begin a rigorous round of reinforcement training. This trip's mission statement is to strengthen everyone's quirks as a whole, thereby allowing everyone to achieve their temporary licenses." He said, letting the students mentally prepare their minds and hearts for the hostility and aggression from the enemy.

"With that said, Bakugou, try throwing this." He continued, throwing a ball to Katsuki who caught it easily.

"This is the same from the physical strength exam." Katsuki remarked.

"Indeed. Your records indicate you recorded a toss of 705.2 at the time of your admittance. Let's see how much you've improved." Aizawa said, giving him some space to throw.

"Woah! A growth test!" "I'm calling over 1 kilometer this time!" "You got this Bakugou!" Such were the encouragements from the students as they all watched the explosive teenager getting ready for the toss of his life.

Tossing the ball he did as the ball departure was accompanied by a loud explosion and then his voice.

"Drop dead!" He shouted.

The ball disappeared from their vision as it was too far for anyone to clearly observe.

Aizawa looked at his device then showed it to the class.

Surprised expressions were on their faces as they saw the numbers the device measured.

"709.6 meters. It barely improved."

"Huh? That's not even close to what we expected..." One student said, visibly confused.

The others were the same as they did not know why or how one of the bests of the class did not improve as much as their different experiences should have made them.

"In three months, you have all gained a lot of experience. Of course, you have also grown. However, that growth has been primarily emotional and technical. Now the time has come to concentrate on physical advancement as well since you could see that your quirks have improved by a marginal amount."

At this point, every student knew what he wanted to announce.

"Starting today, we will focus on upgrading your quirks. I will be pushing you beyond your limits. So try not to kick the bucket on me." Aizawa declared, a huge smile on his face, which made him a little creepier than he usually is.

A few minutes later, all Class-A students had a specific exercise assigned to them thanks to the newly arrived heroes.

The Pussycats were finally in the full version with the two heroes joining Mandalei and Pixie-Bob, Ragdoll and Tiger.

Kotei received instructions from both Ragdoll and Aizawa.

Aizawa since he knew what Kotei could do the best, and Ragdoll since she could see the weak points of people thanks to her quirk [Search]."

"I see that your major weak point is your quirk control! You have trouble with really small targets right?" Ragdoll said to Kotei, enthusiastically.

"I can use my quirk pretty efficiently, but I am not as precise as I could have been. I preferred training my quirk's control on wider areas than on small targets." Kotei said, nodding at her statement.

"Well, that's why we are here. You will go up there and try to sculpt this on a meteor." Aizawa ordered Kotei, giving him a picture.

On the picture was a rather realistic Amaterasu's appearance.

Kotei looked at it a few seconds before lifting his eyes toward his professor.

"Really? You want me to... sculpt Amaterasu on a meteor?" Kotei asked, with a raised eyebrow.

"I do." Aizawa said, a smirk on his face.

Kotei closed his eyes, contemplating his words.

'It sure will help me practice my precision but...'

"Or do you find it too difficult?" Aizawa asked, this time he had a raised eyebrow.

Kotei knew that he was just taunting him. He could almost see his well-hidden smirk.

"... Call me Donatello."

One hour or so later, the 1-B students arrived at the training grounds where their fellow hero department classmates were already training.

Their eyes were already bulging from their sockets seeing the students on the ground having their personal torture methods.

"Why is it so dark here?" One of them remarked.

Now that they remarked, it was pretty dark even though it was still early in the day.

"Holy shit. Guys look at that." Another student from their class pointed at the sky, more precisely at something which almost made his eyes jump from his skull.

"What the fuck...!" Another one exclaimed, looking at the massive meteor above their head, having a strange shape.

"Wait... That's Juryoku? What is he doing?" A girl said, pointing at the figure beside the meteor.

He was dwarfed by it as his figure was almost 5 times smaller than the levitating rock in front of him.

They could see his hands moving slowly and carefully, and each time he seemed to have finished his movement, some sand would fall from the sky.

It was almost as if he was...

"... carving. No, he is freaking sculpting the meteor!" Monoma shouted, mouth agape.

"Stop lazying around Class B." Aizawa recalled them to Earth, making them turn their head toward him.

"We have a lot to do." Their teacher added seriously. They would have to give their hundred percent now that they saw what a Class A student can do.

-*-*-*-

After a while, Kotei flew a few meters back and looked at his hard work's result.

It was pretty similar to the picture Aizawa gave him.

To be honest, it was so resembling that some could say that it was a sculpture from some great artist and not from a total newbie like Kotei.

[Here's the picture.]

To have Amaterasu's giant head floating around was pretty much unnerving for anyone seeing it considering the sheer size of the thing.

"I will have to do the body another time though." Kotei thought. sadly today's training had ended a few minutes ago and his classmates were already beginning to cook.

Bringing the unfinished sculpture down, he gently laid it on the ground before bending some tree to shield it from the rain if needed.

Once he was done, he moved toward his classmates, helping to cook their meals.

The next day, everything was relatively calm.

"Let's talk about tonight's plans!" Pixie-Bob said, hoping to change the topic Midoriya brought about the villains possibly targeting them and them being in danger.

"We're doing an inter-class test of courage! After training hard, you get to play hard!" She continued.

'A test of courage?' Kotei asked himself, looking at the horizon.

'A moment where we definitely won't all be on guard.'

'Last night... what was this... horrendous presence I felt there?' Kotei thought, looking at the peak of the nearby mountain.

It was unleashing waves and waves of hostility. It was basically screaming that they were enemies.

"It kinda felt like Stain." Kotei thought, remembering the villain's last moments before losing consciousness.

Looking back at the sculpture in front of him, he shook his head.

"I may have imagined things. Villains should not know of this place and... they would have attacked us in our sleep if they were really there.

Whatever... Only time will answer." Kotei said aloud, stopping thinking about that and focusing back on his work.

-*-*-*-

A while later, it was time for the test of courage.

They began to draw teams of two. As there was an odd number of students, Midoriya was left alone.

Kotei was teamed with Kouda.

He remembered him being the quietest guy in the class. Also one of the weakest since his quirk allowed him to talk to animals, pretty useless in a fight, but not totally in a rescue mission.

A few minutes later, some teams were already gone in the forest, with only two teams and Midoriya left, with three of the Pussycats.

Suddenly, Kotei noticed something weird.

"?!" Kotei hurriedly crossed his arms in front of him, readying his body for the impact incoming.

Faster than anyone could register, a towering figure emerged from a portal that appeared in front of Kotei.

A fist smashed against his raised arms, making him fly through the forest, disappearing from everyone's vision.

The thing who attacked him immediately ran after him, ignoring anything else.

"Juryoku!" Iida and Midoriya shouted once they realized what happened.

The pro heroes also wanted to run after him, but an attack toward Pixie-Bob, forcing the latter to dodge brought their attention to the two villains in front of them.

"What are villains doing here?!" Midoriya asked, pretty perturbed.

"I don't know, but we must not be the only ones getting attacked. We have to regroup somewhere else and send help to the students in the forest." Tiger said, getting ready to engage de villains.

Pixie-Bob was ready too, even though she had lightly been injured when they sneak attacked her.

-*-*-*-

Kotei stopped his momentum by spinning in the air, and stepping on the nearest tree, horizontally.

He did not have any time to recollect his thoughts as he jumped sideways, dodging the figure which attacked him in the first place.

"A Noumu...?" Kotei asked aloud, not expecting any response.

The noumu had completely black rocky skin, with its eyes and brain exposed.

It also had more fingers than necessary which made its fist looked like a studded club.

Its tongue was hanging out, releasing some green liquid in high quantity.

The nomu turned toward its target and Kotei could feel something bending around its fists.

'A gravitational quirk?' He thought, his eyes widening a little.

He now understood why he did not sense any more signals.

"Juryo... Ku... kill... Ju... Ku... Tei... Kill!" It suddenly roared.

Without further warning, it rushed toward Kotei slamming its fists where he believed he was, causing the ground to shake, the nearby trees to topple, and dust to rise.

It continued to swing mercilessly but failed to notice that Kotei never was hit in the first place.

"This is not even funny." Kotei's voice was heard by the nomu behind him.

It stopped hitting air and turned around, raising its fists, hoping for his hit to land thanks to his superior speed.

Kotei however was not in the mood to fight at all.

Putting his hand on the Nomu's body, it rapidly began to fly up, its speed greatly increasing.

The nomu's 'fall' was quickly stopped when its body hit the ground.

Or so it thought.

Rising from the small crater it had created, the Nomu was trying to understand where it was.

The injuries he received were healing but at a really slow pace. One of its legs was broken in half, the other was weirdly bent.

It used its two appendages like arms to rise from the crater, but when its eyes looked up, he saw something which made it froze.

The ground was not beneath, but above!

However, it heard a noise behind him that shook him out of his trance.

As mindless as it was, it hurriedly tried to punch his target.

Its fist stopped a meter from Kotei's face. The latter had a pretty angry expression, not liking the abomination in front of him at all.

"Sending such a failure to fight me. I feel insulted." Kotei said, looking at the monster in front of him with unnerving calmness in his eyes.

The next moment would pretty much be incomprehensible for most as impact appeared on the Nomu's skin as if it had been punched with incredible strength all over.

Blood was gushing from all its injuries almost immediately after the fist impacts appeared.

Kotei then snapped his finger, making the seemingly lifeless Nomu fly back.

They were currently standing upside down a meteor Kotei called the moment he had been launched through the forest.

Even though the Nomu was slowly healing, it could not stop its rotation around the meteor, its speed constantly accelerating.

Kotei was standing on the side, ready to blast his enemy with an attack that would completely nullify his regeneration.

The fireball of pure darkness he was compressing into his palms until now looked like the real deal.

Like the sun.

"[Amaterasu's kiss]" Kotei said, freeing the ball from his hands.

Immediately after, he began to fly toward the ground at neck-breaking speed.

"Even I don't want to be caught in this attack." He said, even making the asteroid fly up, pushing it further away from the forest below.

The asteroid suddenly got engulfed by a sun-like orb, illuminating the night and making the temperature rise to unprecedented highs.

The sun lasted ten seconds before suddenly disappearing.

When everyone thought that it was over, a giant explosion happened high in the air, causing a violent wind to blow through the forest.

If the sun didn't get rid of the Nomu, the explosion surely did.

Looking at the result, the wind still strongly blowing and the clouds now nonexistent, Kotei could only say one thing.

"It may have been overkill."
