1 Grandpa System (Part One)

Hazel Larson, a new student in the Glamrelts the Institute of Hunters, came to a mountain with his classmates. The Academy gave them their first hunting debut in this place. The students were tasked to hunt goblins.

Goblins. They were disgusting creatures. Not only did they have nasty green faces, they liked to kidnap women and force themselves upon them. As a woman enjoyer, Hazel couldn't forgive them. 'You want women? Fine. You should get their consent now!'

Hazel was excited to participate in this hunt. He had learned a few skills before, so he wanted to test it.

Luckily, Hazel found a goblin who wandered alone in the forest. These nasty creatures were weak, so they usually hunted as a group.

Hazel looked around and confirmed the goblin was alone, so he immediately approached him. Upon closer look, he found out the goblin was suffering from injuries. Maybe the nasty creature was running after his friends were killed. He didn't know about it. He was just grateful to find a target.

In this hunt, Hazel was alone while his classmates formed groups. The Glamrelts Academy was a prestigious place, and many people came from powerful backgrounds. Meanwhile, he was just an orphan who got a scholarship by a stroke of luck, so it made sense that many people looked at him with contempt.

Hazel didn't mind their discrimination against him. Those people had their pride, so maybe they saw them as a nasty goblin among humans. Well, who gave a single attention to them?

Hazel didn't care about them either. He wanted to become a rich hunter and had a beautiful wife. In order to reach his goal, enduring discrimination was just a simple matter.

Hazel lunged at the goblin and struck his head from behind, splitting the green-skinned creature into half. As the creature's corpse fell to the ground, he only felt disgusted by the gory sight. For some reason, he didn't feel guilty for killing a creature. Maybe it was because these creatures liked to kidnap women so he didn't feel affection for them?

Hazel stopped thinking about it and looked for the next target. He still wanted to test his new ability.

"Still, killing something really increased my experience points, huh."

Before he continued the hunt, Hazel wanted to check something. He said 'Window', and a blue screen appeared in front of him. This was called the status window. It was something that was given by the system to humans 100 years ago. With the system, humans on earth could become powerful.

Name: Hazel Larson

Species: Human

Level: 1 [20/110]

Talent: -

Strength: 9 (C) || Endurance: 6 (D)

Agility: 5 (E) || Perception: 4 (E)

Intelligent: 2 (F) || Wisdom: 2 (F)]

[Abilities: Axemanship (Lv. 5), Power Slash (Lv. 1).]

This was Hazel's system window. He was still level one because someone couldn't hunt something without the government's supervision. They needed a permit to hunt.

Before entering the academy, Hazel didn't have a permit, so he was still level one. However, there was something that he could do without a permit. That was to gain abilities.

Hazel was a lumberjack before entering the academy. He had chosen that job because he could hold a weapon. As a lumberjack, he had painstakingly honed his Axemanship to level five, an extraordinary feat for a level one. That was how he could acquire the scholarship at this prestigious academy.

After looking at the experience points tab, Hazel looked at his stats and felt dejected. His stats were below average for the academy's standards.

F grade stats meant someone didn't have talents in raising these stats. E grade stats were standards for average hunters, but the academy had higher standards. D grade stats were the academy's standard.

Hazel, at least, needed to find a way to raise his agility to D grade. Intelligence and Wisdom were fine to be left alone because only geniuses had talents in magic. Even if someone had an F grade in wisdom and intelligence, it didn't mean they were stupid. These stats were related to magic. However, physical stats were important.

Hazel heard information that someone could raise his states' grades with a Potential Potion, and there were a few ways of acquiring it. However, all those ways required him to become stronger, so he would focus on becoming stronger first.

Hazel was about to continue the hunt, but he stopped when he heard a feminine voice.

"Hey, hey. You. Yes, you!"

Hazel felt weird when he heard the voice because it directly entered his mind. He looked around, but he didn't see anything, except for a cave.

"Did the sound come from that cave?" Hazel pondered.

"Yes," the feminine voice answered in his mind. "Please come closer. I have a gift for you."

Hazel knew this was suspicious. Which fool would comply with a stranger's voice just because their voice was beautiful. Well, him.

Hazel started to walk toward the cave. Even though he had F grade intelligence, he wasn't a fool, or else he would fail the academy's written exam. He was affected by the voice. It contained an alluring power that hypnotized his mind. Before he knew it, he arrived in front of the cave.

Hazel slapped his face and strengthened his mind. "No, Hazel. What on earth are you doing? This is a goblin's den. The voice wants to lure you to your death!" he exclaimed, convincing himself.

"No, no, no. I have no bad intentions! Please trust me!" The feminine voice started panicking.

Hazel squinted his eyes at the cave and said, "You used an ability to hypnotize me."

"Okay, I am sorry. I was just desperate. It's been a long time since I have seen a human, and I want you to save me from this stuffy place. Please. I will do anything."

"Look... Even if I want to save you, this is a goblin's dent. It is dangerous for me to enter."

"It's alright. The goblins are out. There are only cubs in the dent, and they are weaker than humans."

"There are also traps."

"I can help you to avoid the traps. Please just save me...." The feminine voice cried.

For some reason, Hazel pitied her, so he entered the cave. This was probably a trap. If he died, he would curse himself in the next life or the afterlife.

"T-thank you. I will tell you where all the traps lie."

Just as she promised, she helped him to avoid all the traps. There was no adult goblin inside the cave, so Hazel arrived at the goblin's treasury room in no time.

"Where are you?" Hazel asked while gawking at the pile of treasures in front of him. He heard goblins like to collect treasures, and the rumor seemed to be true.

"I am inside the pile of treasures. Before you save me, maybe you want to deal with the cubs first. Look behind you. There is a round stone door. That place is where they hide the cubs."

Hazel turned around and saw a round door made of stone slab. He pushed the door aside and found several goblin cubs hugging each other while looking at him in fear.

The scene would be touching if they weren't goblins. Alas, humans were educated about the goblins' wicked nature. Even the cubs liked to torture women when the adults brought them into the dent, so Hazel didn't hesitate to lift his axe and do his job as a hunter.

After a while, Hazel left the cub's room while dragging his bloodied ax. He looked at the pile of treasures tiredly and asked, "Now where are you?"

"Are you okay?" the feminine voice asked in a worried tone.

"Yeah, no. Even if they are goblins, killing kids never feels good."

"I-I am sorry for forcing you."

Hazel smiled. This unknown stranger seemed to be a kind person since she was worried for him. "Don't mention it. Let's save you."

"Ah, okay. Climb the pile of treasures carefully and find a ring with a crimson jewel. I am sealed inside it."

Hazel frowned. "Sealed? Wait, are you an evil entity."

"No! Please, I swear I am not an evil person!"

Hazel put on a suspicious expression, but he still climbed the pile of treasures. Since he was here, he decided to just see the end of it. He had a feeling this encounter would be a good thing for him. This was a gamble.

As he reached the top, Hazel found a ring with a crimson jewel. He touched it carefully. However, the ring suddenly did something unexpected when his skin touched it. It forcefully brought out Hazel's mana and sucked it.

Hazel shouted in surprise and tripped his foot against a treasure. He fell and rolled down, but he suddenly realized nothing happened after that.

Hazel scratched his head and stood up, but he suddenly realized he was wearing the crimson ring in his ring finger.

"Y-you! What are you planning?" Hazel asked in a panicked tone.

Suddenly, the jewel emanated light and a woman figure appeared inside it. She floated in front of him and smiled at him.

Hazel widened his eyes when he saw her because she was extremely beautiful. She was probably the most beautiful woman he had seen. Her hair was a mix pattern of blue and pink. Her pink eyes looked at him gently, and he couldn't stop staring at her.

"Thank you for your help! As promised, I will reward you!" the woman said in a familiar feminine voice. Without a doubt, she was the same woman who had been talking to him.
