Arya explained to Armin how Lance had done a spell using mere gestures instead of incantations. Though he tried to calm Armin down by assuring him that Lance could only wordless-cast base magic spells, Armin wouldn't stop worrying. The moment they got back to the lodging he went straight to his room to practice. Armin had never been in any particular rush to perfect anything, perhaps a weakness of being on top, he never really found himself having to put much effort into magic.
