6 Terrifying Aura
The next day Kai got up early and headed towards the Raleigh estate. The bustling streets of the first district were solemnly quiet as he threaded through them. He finally arrived at the gates of the Raleigh estate.
"State your purpose!" A guard yelled.
"I'm the new dishwasher, I start today."
After a brief pause the grand gates of the Raleigh estate opened its doors to a demon in sheeps skin. Kai discreetly grinned as he was allowed entry and followed after the guard. As they went inside the enormous mansion Kai made sure to memorize the layout of the building.
He notes the most extravagant rooms down to the insignificant maid quarters. He was amazed by the level of security displayed inside. Oni would have certainly been killed if all the guards had been mobilized.
"This is the kitchen, Jerald will lead you from here" the guard notified.
They abnormally tall boy smiled at Kai "Again my name is Jerald, I'm a Commis chef here at the Raleigh estate and you will be learning from me."
(Commis Chef- A junior member of staff that works under a chef de partie (Station Chef) in order to learn the ins and outs of a specific station, these are often people that have recently completed, or are still undertaking, formal culinary training."
"Aren't I just washing dishes?" Kai questioned.
"Yes you are but don't you eventually want to move up the ladder? Everybody has to start somewhere, so even if you're washing dishes now you might be cooking in the future. At the Raleigh estate, every kitchen staff down to the waiters has the ability to cook. Some former staff of the Bendal Hotel even work here now. If we were a public restaurant we could probably get 3/5 michelin stars!"
Kai felt beads of sweat drip down his neck. He didn't know how to cook yet, he assumed he just needed the ability to wash dishes. Looks like the gourmet world is extremely competitive and taxing.
The duo was interrupted when an enormous voice boomed into the Kitchen.
"MOVE, the northern tundra ice wyvern has arrived!"
A team of people rushed into the Kitchen as they carried the gargantuan dragon on a silver platter. As they came in Ice energy shot out into the room and a deadly chill creeped into Ka's body. But Kai ignored the pain as he was fascinated by the creature and the team of chefs preparing it.
"The kitchen is a battlefield of it's own" Jerald Chuckled. "At any moment you could lose your life to these monsters creatures, cause even in death they still hold enormous power."
"What are you two doing here, get out!" A man yelled.
"Come on" Jerald said to Kai.
They left the kitchen as they went on to the auxiliary kitchen. Jerald directed Kai to a table as he gathered some knives.
"Just because it's your first day doesn't mean I can't teach you anything. Your first lesson will be on knives." Jerald said.
Kai looked in shook as Jerald tossed two knives up and spin them around his head at an incredible speed.
"Don't underestimate a culinary man. People just think we are cooks but were also fighters. The most prestiges of us, Gourmet Hunters have such combat ability there are entrusted with with tasks to take down dangerous criminals who pose a threat to society."
As he finished his speech Jerald slammed the knives down on the board.
"But for know, were just going over the basics for you until you master them. There's the slice."
Jerald said as he proceeded to slice the piece of Ham. The mouth-watering piece slowly sank onto the table. He proceed to show Kai how to dice, mince, chiffonade, and julienne.
"These knife skills won't only make you a better cook but also a better combatant. So i advise you to practice these skills all the time. Your first day is over, tomorrow you will formally begin your duty." Jerald said he headed back to the main kitchen.
Kai left through the backdoor of the auxiliary kitchen. As he headed down the corridor he overheard a guard talking.
"Even though the assassins were unsuccessful master Raleigh has instructed all security double their shifts." the guard sighed.
"At least we're getting paid more. Anyways I have to get back to the security office my break is over." The other replied.
A light bulb went off in kai's head. If he could get into the security office he could probably find the entire layout of the building, patrol routes, Khan's personal bodyguards, locations of security cameras, and ect.
Kai carefully walked forward, he turned the hallway as he followed the guard who was going back to the security office. After walking sometime he felt a similar dreadful aura.
A hulking man stared at him in contemplation. Kai's body began to tremble in fear as his knees caved in.
"He's a gifted human!" Kai thought. The only other person who used their aura to make him feel like this was Nina who was also gifted. The only difference was while Nina's Aura was dark and evil this man's aura was sharp and terrifying.
"What are you doing here, this area is off limits to personnel other than security." He proclaimed.
"Sor… Sorry this is my first day working here I don't know." Kai gasped.
After a couple more seconds the Man lifted his aura and Kai could breathe easier again.
"Make sure you never come here again or next time it's your head." He said as he turned around and went back to the security area.
Kai hurriedly left the area and went out of the estate. He needed to notify Varra and Oni of the gifted level bodyguard. The difficulty of their mission exponentially increased. The only way they could succeed would be in a battle of wits and secrecy.
