5 New opportunity

As he opened the sheath a white translucent mist faintly wrapped around the blade.

"Sorry mother" Oni whispered.

He suddenly dashed forward and raised his sword at the guard.

"Don't blame me in the afterlife " the guard chuckled.

Oni smirked and gradually began to disappear into the white mist his sword let out. The guard became wide eyed and looked around. With a flash Oni reappeared at his side and his blade struck true. The guard let out a blood curdling scream.

The wound started to terrifyingly corrode under the mysterious properties of the blade.

"To think you would have a soul weapon, those are inly found in the hands of the gifted!" The guard stated bewildered.

He then reached out and grabbed Oni with his bare hands ignoring the degree of his injury. As Oni tried to free himself from the ape like grip of the guard he was raised in the air and sickeningly smashed down with a crunch.

"You see, now it's our turn" Vara sighed.

She and Kai ran forward and climbed the fence. As they crossed over she took out a dome shaped object from her cloak and threw it toward Oni and the guard.

When it landed it let out a dark green smoke that hissed into the air.

"What is that" Kai asked

"Bio-weaponry" Vara said as he ran towards Oni.

Kai hesitantly followed and looked nervous as he came into contact with the smoke. They found Oni alone as it seemed the guard already retreated with Khan Raleigh.

Kai picked up oni and set him on his back as they ran back into the forest. They ventured back into the slums and found themselves a tavern.

The owner complained until they Vara threw him a bag of gold. As they settled into their room Vara took out a needle and stabbed them all with it.

"The antidote," She explained "if it isn't taken within 5 hours your lungs start to collapse."

"So Khan is dead?" Kai assumed.

"No, I'm 100% sure he has precautions against biohazards. His team probably concocted an antidote already."

"How do you even have a biological war agent? They were banned by the Ascension Association years ago." Oni gasped.

"Banned openly, but the industry thrives underground. I come from the Abu family, we specialize in deadly poison creation. Numerous Nations and even the Ascension Association has employed us to work for them." Vara said with a hint of pride.

"Now that we're safe, Oni what are you doing? You compromised the mission, Khan is going to be more alert knowing that were coming to kill him. If you let us help you the first we could have killed him already."

Oni brought his head down "I'm sorry, it's just that I'm not used to working with people. I'm usually a lone wolf."

"You don't have to be" Kai added " we're a team now, we need each other to make it into the organization. Let's make a plan together so we can pass this mission."

"Ok, what are your ideas?" Oni asked.

Vara sat in contemplation until it hit her "Before a mission you need intel. We need to scout around the Raleigh headquarters until we find something that can help us. But you need to stay Oni, not only do they already recognize your face you need to heal."

"I agree" Oni sighed.

"Alright then let's go Vara" Kai said as he got up towards the door.

She nodded and they headed out the taven and back to the first district where the Raleigh headquarters was located. They split up to cover a bigger area, and as he looked around Kai heard a youth talking to another.

"I start working at the Raleigh estate tomorrow as a dishwasher!" The boy said.

Kai eyes widen as he found their way into the Raleigh estate.

Waiting thirty more minutes for the boy's conversation to end he tailed him until they were in a secluded back alley.

Kai discretely walked up behind the boy and held his mouth with a cloth.

The boy muffled screams echoed into the alley but thankfully nobody came to check around. Kai tied him up against garbage bins and went back to the tavern.

"Did you find anything?" Oni questioned.

"Unfortunately no, the Raleigh estate tightened security even more than what it used to be. The fence is now a metal wall with who knows what traps they installed. Also, they probably hired even more powerful guards knowing the San syndicate is after them." Vara said.

"I think I found a way in." Kai laughed

"How?" Oni and Varra asked puzzled

"I'm going to work at the estate as a Dishwasher. There I can find out the ins and outs of the estate and I might even get close to Khan Raleigh."

"This is because you want to become a gourmet hunter right?" Oni and Vara sighed.

"Well… partly" Kai smiled.

Vara palmed her head. "Since this is the only way in, we have no choice but to do it."
