2 First Hunt!

As Kai's scope of the existence was expanded by the mans revelation he realized his purpose was to become a gourmet hunter. Who knew there was so much more to this world. He looked up to thank him.

"Don't ever give up on your dreams kid, and keep chasing the flavors of this world." The man smiled.

And before Kai knew it the man suddenly disappeared leaving behind the dying flames of his fire.

Kai stood up and felt the best he had ever felt before. He realized the scorpion meat changed him. His body was stronger and tougher than it had ever been. Maybe this is what the man meant by evolving? It seems like eating food like that made you stronger.

Kai noticed that people from the surrounds starting to come and inspect the fire. He quickly ran through the urban sprawl of Badaun city and finally reached his makeshift shack. As he laid on the ground he missed the warm company of Gayo. He promised himself he would achieve his newfound dream of becoming a gourmet hunter chef for the both of them. And of course would seek revenge. Kai closed his eyes and darkness soon overtook him.

Kai awaked with a yawn and got up to stretch. As he contemplates he realized that he could not become a gourmet hunter without becoming incredibly strong. The mysterious man was probably even a gifted human, because that scorpion had godlike abilities. There was no way he took it down without being gifted. Kai knew he had to find a way to get powers but for know he had to settle with normal training.

He went out and headed towards the Sand garden. It was the wilderness located next to Bandel city. There were rumors that the farther that one ventured into it the more terrifying the beasts would emerge. The man probably killed the Golden scorpion in the epicenter of the Sand garden.

But Kai knew his limits he resolved himself to hunt around the outskirts of the garden, where the beasts were more normal and could easily subdued. After a while Kai saw a hog with viciously sharp tusks.

He quickly drew out twin daggers and approached it slowly. As he got closer, the hog threw it nose in the air and started disgustingly snorting. The animal turned to Kai's direction and roared. It seemed like he underestimated the scope of animal scent, Knowing he would not survive a direct charge Kai ran away and conceded this round.

After 30 minutes of deliberation he changed his strategy. He would approach the hog from the trees, where the wind would mask his scent and make him less detectable to the hog. Kai climbed the nearest tree and walked carefully on the branches.

He practiced for an hour until he had a feel for which branches could bear his weight and which couldn't. Also, he could maintain a small jog jumping from branch to branch but it was clear he would need more practice to go faster.

Kai made his way towards the hog. He slowly got closed and the hog was still oblivious to his presence. Finally he reached the point directly above the hog. Kai held his daggers above him and jumped down.

As he smashed the daggers into the Hog's skull it let out a blood curdling shrill. Kai jumped in joy, but it seemed like he celebrated to quickly. The hog viciously turned it's tusk at him but he dived to the side. The tusks smashed into the tree and went in halfway deep.

If that were a human the tusks would have already went through its body. Kai scolded himself for not being careful enough. Thankfully his years in Bandel city had sharpen his senses and agility. He approached the hog who was still stuck in the tree and with a swift stroke cut open its neck.

This time Kai waited to make sure the beast was completely dead. After examining its lifeless body Kai jumped in joy. He had successfully concluded his first hunt and was closer to becoming a gourmet hunter.

Kai began to skin the hog, he wouldn't waste anything down to the last drop. Every material was sellable. He separated the meat from the hide, tusks, and bones and went back to Bandel city.

Kai entered the market and went to his contact in the black market. Food was a scarce commodity in Bandell city and was only traded underground. People would kill to get their hands on stale bread let alone the meat he was discretely carrying.

He went up to an empty stall and spoke to the man behind the counter.

"What do you want" the man sneered

"The compass to the starry night" Kai whispered in a hush breath.

The man was temporarily shocked until he composed himself again. Who knew a kid would have access to the black market.

"Follow me" The man said in a better tone

Kai walked behind him as the man went underneath the stall through a manhole, as he jumped down he saw a new world. Unlike the market above, it was ghost-quiet. Business was done in closed doors for fear of sabotage, so it made quite a formal atmosphere. People wore stone cold expressions and never showed their true emotions.

The man stopped walking and turned around. " Nina is in her office, keep walking straight and you will see her."

Kai nodded and walked in the building. He went down the hall, and pushed against the steel plated door. A voluptuous woman sat cross legged and sipped on dark red wine. Long hair flowed down her angelic face.

'If it isn't Kai" She said with a bright smile.

"Hello Nina" Kai said with a hardened tone.

"Don't be so boring, come over sit next to me" Nina said in a lustful tone.

Kai shivered, he would not get anywhere near this women infamously known as the demonic succubus. Unless of course he wanted to get the life essence sucked out of him. Rumors were she was a "gifted" human but her powers were not natural and stemmed from demonic entities.

"I'm ok" Kai insisted.

"You're no fun" She laughed. "But back to business what brought you here" Nina asked curiously.
