138 Chapter 126: Mutants Vs The World Part 1

8:08 AM, Professor Xavier's School For Gifted Youngsters.

The very next day after the message from the brotherhood of mutants, effects began to become apparent among the younger generation of students.

A group of young students was currently being taught about how best to learn to control their abilities on an emotional scale. The class was being taught by a lovely dark skinned woman with platinum blonde hair and blank white eyes.

"As I've mentioned numerous times before, the first step to bettering your control is acceptance. Accept your gift for what it is even though it may have lead to so many problems. Once you learn to control your gift, I assure you life becomes much more clear." The woman advised the students with a small smile and got ready to proceed but was interrupted when a student raised their hand.

"Uh, Professor Storm? It's hard for some of us to accept our so called "gifts" when even our own parents abandoned us because of them." A young expressed in a saddened tone and sparked his fellow peers to also express themselves.

"I had to leave behind the life I've known all my life just because I'm "special". It's not fair, why do we have to be ones to suffer so something we never even asked for."

"That's right. Many mutants are heroes who save many lives everyday but even then our kind isn't appreciated. We're just seen like some sort of disease. It's not fair!"

One after another, each student began to voice their dissatisfaction with the way things were for mutants. Some had been forced to leave their lives and loved ones behind, while others grew up being abused or treated poorly due to their abilities.

"Students calm down, I understand your concerns but-" Storm was about to respond to the young students when another voice interrupted her.

"Storm. Professor Xavier wants to have a word with us in his office."

"Oh, Jean..." Storm turned to the source of the voice, a woman with ginger red hair and muttered the name.

"Students, please return to your rooms. I'll answer all your questions the next time we have a lesson." Storm quickly dismissed her students and walked over to the door where Jean stood.

Once all the students had left, Jean who had been wearing a complex look the entire time let out a sigh and turned to Storm.

"They've all seen the message Magneto had sent out and it's starting to get to them. I'm not sure what to tell them, because part of me agrees with that Magneto said" Jean admitted in low tone as she looked to Storm for clarity.

"Some of what he said is indeed true, mutants shouldn't be treated like a plague to society. But forcing humans to see us as superior isn't right either." Storm expressed her views on the matter in a confident manner and caused Jean to give a slight nod.

"I also agree with that but, does that mean mutants we'll just have to suck it up and live poorly? Rogue had a lot to say on this after seeing the message. She seemed wholeheartedly convinced with Magneto's ideals." Jean sighed and revealed but Storm remained calm and composed.

"She's young, she just needs a little guidance to see the light again. Let's go talk to the professor, I'm sure he has a solution to all this." Storm placed her hand on Jean's shoulder and gave her a slight nod before the two proceeded out of the room and headed towards Professor Xavier's office.

Once there, Storm knocked on the door twice before they heard a voice come from the other side.

"Enter". The voice said and so Storm opened the door and proceeded inside with Jean in toll.

After walking in, Storm found many of the senior members already present. Beast, Colossus and Wolverine stood to the right while two unfamiliar faces stood to the left.

"Jean, Storm, thank you for coming. Please close the door and I'll explain why I've called for you all." Professors Xavier who was seated in his wheelchair in the center of the room quickly instructed.

Storm did as he asked before turning to the other senior members of the X-men with a slightly concerned expression.

'It must be to discuss Magneto...then as for those two, I recognize one but not the other.' Storm thought to herself before turning to face the two non members standing to the left.

"It's no secret that you've all heard Max's or rather Magneto's declaration. Ever since then, many of the students began to doubt our ideals and the way things have been. It's reached the point that many of the senior students are asking to leave while others like miss Anne have already left." Professor Xavier began explaining in a regretful tone.

"Rogue..." Storm muttered and grew more concerned with the situation.

"I have no right to stop them from doing as they wish but I still very much worry that if they go out there with the way things are, they'll get themselves killed or worse. So as of today, Professor Xavier's School For Gifted youngsters is no more." Professor Xavier declared and caused the senior members present to all be taken by surprise.

"What?! Professor you can't, although they are some who believe Magneto's words, they are still many who consider this place home. Myself included" Beast immediately argues but Professor Xavier wasn't moved.

"Max contacted me privately a little while after he released his message to the world. He told me I had 24 hours to choose wether to be an ally or an enemy and that he'd personally come here to receive my answer. My answer should already be clear, but that answer will put everyone at risk and I won't allow it. This brings us to our two guests here." Professor Xavier explained before turning to the two people on his left.

"My name is Dr. Shay Veritas and this is Dr. Harleen Quinnzel, we're here representing Leviathan. Professor Xavier had contacted us and asked if we could provide a home to his students like we had offered once before. That home being Leviathan's floating mega city. Your students will no longer need to hide and will be safer than anywhere else. There's a lot more the city offers but these two are your main concerns are they not?"

"Yes they are, so long as the students are safe then everything is fine. Beast, Wolverine, Colossus, Storm and Jean. You five have been with me longer than anyone else, so I ask you to trust me one last time on this decision. Please inform all the students about the relocation so they may start packing whatever they need to. That is all."

Both Beast and Wolverine had wanted to speak, but a mental message from the Professor caused them both to remain silent with complex looks.

"Then what about us Professor? What will become of the X-men?" Jean suddenly spoke out and caused Storm and Colossus to turn towards the Professor.

"Just like the School, from today onwards the X-men are no more. The students however may continue to need your guidance so I hoped you'd make the move with them. You may even find a permanent solution to your problem Jean. As hard as this may seem, it's what needs to be done."

Jean didn't reply but simply nodded her head weakly. Storm only glanced at the others and didn't speak either as they quietly left the room. Leaving Professor Xavier on his head.

"The thing I've feared for so many years has finally began. A war is inevitable..." Professor Xavier muttered to himself as he looked out of his office window.
