137 Chapter 125: Age Of Leviathan Final
4:06 PM, The White House, Washington DC.
Inside the halls of the presidential home, a group of figures in formal wear could be seen walking at hurried pace with looks of concern on their faces.
Soon the group reached the end of the hall and proceeded through two large wooden doors. On the other side of the doors was a dimly lit conference room with a large oval shaped desk and many figures already present.
"Mr. President." One of the figures seated around the table quickly stood and recognized the man who stood in front of the group that had just entered the conference hall.
What followed were the other seated members also recognizing the president's presence. The president everyone was recognizing was a caucasian middle aged man with a stern expression on his cleanly shaved face. He gestured everyone to take a seat before he himself proceeded to the main seat and faced the large screen at the end of the oval table.
"How bad is the situation?" He asked in a serious and mature tone before turning his head to a figure dressed in military attire.
"Secretary Thaddeus E. Ross was killed earlier today along with Dr. Kavita Rao, Dr. Amara Perera and many other members of staff present during an attack on Worthington Labs on Alcatraz." An older looking man with white hair and military attire quickly spoke and looked at the president who now wore a complex expression.
"Thaddeus...*sigh* and what of the boy? Leech, without him we cannot synthesize the cure anymore." The President had let out a sigh and muttered his late friend's name but maintained his composure and focused on the problem at hand.
"The boy is alive but...he is no longer a mutant. We are unsure of the exact cause for this but the boy is indeed just a normal human again. What's worse is all research pertaining to the hope serum project has been wiped on all our databases worldwide." The older military man quickly explained and caused everyone present to wear looks of concern.
"This situation cannot be ignored, I'm open to any and all suggestions on the way forward from here." The president announced in a serious manner with a slight undertone of anger in his voice.
Meanwhile in the inside the Leviathan floating mega City, Arias was casually walking through a hallway with Dr. Veritas and Harley on his sides.
"Say? Why are we helping that metal head guy anyways? We could easily bring down the facility in the time it takes to fry an egg or something." Harley, who was skipping to the left hand side of Arias asked in a tone of curiosity.
"It's strictly strategic." Dr.Veritas answered Harley before Arias could and proceeded to explain even further.
"As you can see,it's no secret many governments want us gone. Although Arias can easily dispose of them, more will come in their place and the world will constantly be in disorder because we will be the one common enemy they all share. However, what happens when multiple threats against the world appear?" Dr Veritas came to a pause and asked with a smile.
"Errr...Oh I know this one. You hit me in the balls real nice." Harley replied confidently and caused Dr.Veritas to simply sigh.
"They'll be forced to deal with most active threats. This leaves them less resources to focus on my people. The longer they are distracted, the larger and stronger my organization grows. By the time they focus on us, none of the main members will even be necessary to deal with them." Arias finally spoke and explained the reason behind helping the brotherhood of mutants.
"Oh see now I get it. But uh? What if they lose and y'know snitch on us? Won't they know you're behind that all." Harley asked curiously but Arias simply smirked and shook his head.
"Ari has certain measures in place" Dr. Veritas answered with a confident smile on her face.
"I knew that" Harley replied with a cheeky smile before locking her hand with Arias's.
"Speaking of the brotherhood of mutants, did you help distribute their little speech?" Arias turned to Shay and asked in his usual cold tone.
"I indeed have. It will air all across the world just like our message very soon. My only concern is won't such a move lead to their destruction even faster?" Dr. Veritas asked with a slight look of concern but Arias simply shook his head.
"An unavoidable but necessary risk." Arias responded in a confident manner, which proved to be enough to ease Dr. Veritas's concerns about the matter.
Later that very day, A message from the brotherhood of mutants to the world was aired on many major and popular platforms.
The message went as follows,
"My fellow mutant brothers and sisters, gone is the time where you must live in fear and secrecy because of your unique gifts. For years our kind have been judged,discriminated against,used and even killed because of their unique gifts. Humanity has always been afraid of us so they opted to keep us under control with the false perception of freedom"
"I offer to you all true freedom, to stand on top of the world like we're always meant to be. You are superior, they are not. As for all the non-mutants seeing this, accept the reality of the situation or you will face an untimely death, Secretary Thaddeus E. Ross is testament to that. I Magneto promise you that."
And with that final declaration, the message came to an end. Less than a month since Leviathan had declared their message, a new organization called the brotherhood of mutants suddenly became a growing threat.
Although humanity began to grow even more fearful of mutants, the mutants themselves began to grow more confident and agreed with some of the ideals preached by the brotherhood of mutants.
This marked the beginning of a war like no other.
