Chapter 1CHAPTER ONE

Things are never expected, like wildflowers, where they grow on an unknown place— unlike Luther, he came into Maggie's life like magic, he had always been the sunlight of her skies, because of the way he appears in her dreams, the way his boundless words, that keeps on repeating like the music she loves in her playlist, and the way his smile pops into her mind. It was him. It was him that she saw, catching sakura leaves with a smile plastered on his face. His eyes are like honeyed bread ready to be served on the brink of summer, that's how she's reminded of him, he was this freedom where no worries were ever to be seen. And when she's close to him, he is scented with pastries and lemon juice. He was the sunshine that she love him about.

She will never forget the scent of the trees of cherry blossoms that clouded the atmosphere, and the way the sunrays cascade through the morning road—she will never forget the breeze of the fresh air slapping against her flushed cheeks. It was then on, Asami realizes her sweet, menacing feelings for Luther.

Her feelings for him are ineffable.

It was hard to hide, realizing that she doesn't want to end what they have at the moment. And it wasn't hard for her to notice that he's not interested at all. He was filled with passion, he's a boy that brings everyone joy. Maggie wanted to be like him.

"Hey, Maggie," Luther calls her out as she stands by the sidewalk. He waves his hands in the air for the spaced-out girl to notice. He smiled from ear to ear, making her cheeks flush burning red on a cold afternoon.

Trying to avoid his gaze, she answers in a cold, "what?" She doesn't want him to notice her redness, and it was hard to try and hide it, considering her pale porcelain skin.

He drops the sakura leaves from his palm as he tries to reach to his bag. He giggles before showing her a piece of paper. "Look at my test, Maggs! Remember the one that we studied about?" his eyes sparkled as he hands her his test paper to let her see his score. "I aced my test! I'm the best, am I right?" He continues as he points his fingers to himself, he winked at her for a second and a slight hint of scarlet arises from her cheeks. She exclaimed as she looks at his test paper that was marked 87/100.

"You didn't really ace it," Maggie says, almost whispering the words of truth. Actually, she's beyond proud. It was calculus that they studied, and needless to say, it took them a lot of study meet-ups before Luther eventually understood the subject.

Before she could process how mean she sounded with her comment, she immediately notices the sudden change from Luther's expression as he drops his hands and frowns. She regrets her life decisions at this moment and does her best to take back what she just said, "But I'm proud of you, Lulu." She smiled so brightly that made Luther a bit surprised.

Suddenly, Luther felt as if his cheeks are burning, he quickly hugs Maggie in delight. "Thank you, Maggie!" Unable to react quickly to the sudden embrace of the happy teen, Maggie tries to pull away, afraid that he might hear her heart beating so fast. "L-Luther, people might get the wrong idea!"

"It's okay! I'll just hide you under my arms they'll never know what you'll look like." He giggles and hugs her even tighter.

Her cheeks, once again, turn into a bright color of cherry red, and she feels the hotness of her face as it's pressed against the man's chest. "Luther, I'm serious!"

Content, he lets go of her, earning him a pout and a pair of crossed arms. She's mad, obviously. She's mad because of how careless he is, but part of it is because she didn't really expect the warm embrace itself. He knows she hated physical affections, he's perfectly aware. But maybe because he was full of excitement, he couldn't hold back.

"I'm sorry, Magdalene. Hmph." He chuckles and gives her a few, soft pats. She hated being called Magdalene because it sounds dramatic and serious, yet Luther enjoys calling her that name because it sounds unique.

"Here," he hands her a piece of face mask.

She stares at it dumbfoundedly before tilting her head to the side. "What's that for?" she asks.

"Wear it. I'm going to treat you to some ice cream!" as soon as he reveals the mask to her, he happily offers her his jacket as well.

'He's handing me his jacket?!' Maggie thinks. It's unusual for her. 'Don't couples do this kind of stuff?'

"Why?"

Luther looks at her with a questioned look, "what do you mean why?"

"What's the jacket for?"

"You're wearing your school uniform, Maggs." He points at her uniform. "You don't want other people to get the wrong idea, right?" He raises his eyebrow and smirks. Of course, Maggie doesn't want conflict with Luther's fangirls. She would like to be addressed as the ill sister of the famous Luther Parlam. She never wanted to compete with those tall, gorgeous women. She just wanted to enjoy being with him.

The mask and the jacket are still in Luther's hand, and so, he puts the jacket on Maggie's shoulders. Then, he crouches down on the level of Maggie's face, their faces so close that she begins to blush, yet again. He attaches the facemask onto her ears, but Luther hasn't moved an inch to maintain distance between the two of them.

Maggie becomes the first to glance away. Walking past the crouching owl, she says, "Come on, hurry up, Lulu!"

He chuckles as he turns around to catch up to her.

As they walk towards the ice cream parlor, they talked about a cute dog that Luther saw along the way to their spot. He told her how cute and fluffy the dog was and it reminded him of his own, late dog. Maggie cheered him up by challenging him to race to the entrance, and, of course, Luther won. She never inherited their family's athletic ability, she's more on the creative part.

"Hey, Maggs," he calls, nudging the smaller person beside him. "Same flavor?" She nods as a sign of agreement. He orders the same, old ice cream that they bought every time and without fail, whenever they're in the shop.

"How's practice?" Maggie asks.

"I did something good today at practice," he continues by telling her the whole story of what happened that day in practice. As always, Maggie sits and listens to what he's got to say. They're always like this, Luther telling his same old story about how practice went, girls giving him drinks and chocolates. One thing that Maggie likes is when Luther gives her the chocolate. He was a passionate athlete, of course, he wants to have a proper diet. He couldn't throw them away, so he gives them to Maggie.

"Oh, I have to go," Maggie exclaimed as she saw a text message from her twin brother, Marion. "Twin is in need of my help." She waved her phone on Luther's face, on the screen is a text message from her brother. "He leaned back and says, "careful on your way, Maggie!" He waved her goodbye, as they both part ways.

She smiled at how silly he is, then she remembered. She's still wearing her jacket. 'Oh well, I guess I'll have to wash it and give it to him tomorrow.' She thought.

My 3 in 1

"Hey! Why did you undress?" I said without glancing at him, only to perceive his genuine and humorous laugh. "What happened to you? Why do you look so scared? Oh come on, don't you dare think nasty of me". Again, with his joyful and teasing laughter. I just shut my mouth and ignored him. I focused my glare on the floor, shivering cold in my sopping wet dress. "Didn’t you say you wanted to stay for a while, and that you don't want to go home yet? It's not good for you to stay in your soaked dress for very long. I'm serious, and I don't want you to get hypothermia. So, you better slip off that gown and hang it on the railing to dry a little. Doesn't it feel heavy?" He looks serious, delivering his point. He's probably right, but that seems uncomfortable. Disrobing in front of Ziggy while ogling over his naked body, it feels so awkward to me. He is my best friend, my hero and if there is something that is most important in my life, it is to not lose him. I tried hard not to fall in love with him because they say relationships are complicated, and being in love with your best friend and failing hurts double time. What if it's too late for me to realize that he is more than just a best friend, but really my first and only true love?
