7 Chapter 7

A lot of things were happening around me I didn't really pay attention though, it all seemed kinda like background noise, It was there but I didn't care.

The doctor said until our legal guardian was found we were gonna stay at the hospital, in my panicked state I asked him what would happen if there wasn't anybody.

"Well if you don't have anyone to take you in then you'll go into the foster care system and your brother will as well. For now though even if you go into the system he won't, he won't be able to until he recoverers a great deal and is conscious again. He'll end up living in the hospital for a long time before he gets a shot at adoption. Sorry to be blunt but you need to know the truth of what's gonna happen to you two." He said

I can't imagine being adopted, I still haven't been able to process the fire and the fact that everyone I knew and loved are gone.

About a week had passed of me living in a hospital, I spent most of my time next to my brother, I hadn't heard from Kelly since the first day, apparently one of her parents Uncles can and took her. I guess that's good for her, she's still with her family. Then one day the doctor came into my room followed by a dark haired women in a black pants suit. "Hello maya, my name is Haruka and I'm a social service worker, it's a pleasure to meet you." She said as she extended her hand for me to shake.

I cautiously shook her hand while replying "pleasure" in a low tone. "Why are you here?" I asked

"Well I'm here to make sure you and your brother are properly taken care of, both in the hospital and when you leave. Now then let's get started."
