16 Chapter 16

"Thanks for helping me." I said as I stood up and took my papers from him.

"No problem, you new? I haven't seen you around here." he asked as he handed me my papers and stood up as well.

"Um ya, I just moved around here so I had to transfer from my old school." I said as I began to back up little by little out of fear of Layla's death glare piercing through me.

"If you want I can show you around? This school is pretty big and you can easily get lost in it."

"Um, I'd hate to trouble. I can figure it out on my own thanks." I said as I turned to walk away.

"Wait, I'm actually on the student council so its kind of my job. So its really no trouble." he said as he reached out for me.

"She can't go with you" shouted Layla as she grabbed hold of his arm reaching out for me. Then gave me the death glare and mouthed "Go away." to me.

"What are you talking about Layla its my job to help her." he said in a confused tone.

"She's right, I um have to go talk to one of the teachers right now, so I'd hate to make you wait. Bye." I figured I should stay away from this guy, I'm guessing that's her boyfriend considering how she is holding on to him.

"Wait before you go, my names Renji but every one calls me Ren. If you need anything just ask me, just about every one at this school knows me since I've pretty much always been in some position in the council." He said with a smile.

"Thanks, I'm Maya." I said as I hurried off down the hall with out even glancing behind. My heart was beating so hard and my face felt so hot, am I getting sick or something. Oh god my face must be bright red cause of the heat, I hope I don't have a fever.

I notice a women walking down the hall with a teacher ID on her waist band and quickly ask her for directions to my classes.

"Oh actually according to your papers your in my homeroom and science class, thats perfect why don't we head to home room together and then after that I'll show you around the school and where your classes are." She stated as she began walking down the hall.

"Ok, thanks so much." I said as I followed her down the hall.

As long as I stay clear of Layla for today, I think this will shape up to be a pretty good first day.
