"A mistress? Honey, what are you talking about?" the Madam turned to look at him. Her eyes were seeking answers from his face, but it was clear that was all he would say.

Everyone waited for his answer, but he would not budge. His eyes remained closed as if he did not plan to listen to any of their words. Not a single movement of his revealed his inner thoughts.

"Father! Say something to us!" Lily yelled out. She could not bear to not hear him. If he was unwilling to say a simple explanation, at the very least, he could tell them to leave.

"I have nothing else to say," the Lord was finally willing to utter a few words. "I have only come to tell you that you will soon have a new master in the house and to treat her with respect."

His words were spoken carelessly with no ounce of remorse. He still held his eyes closed speaking to them. It was as if by doing so he could escape the consequences of his action.
