3 A Princess and Her System

"Host, please wake up to sign the contract."

'Contract? What contract?'

In a blank white space, there were two glowing balls of light - one light pink and the other white.

Avina slowly regained her thoughts as she remembered the car accident. Her first thoughts were whether she had died and this was the Underworld, where people are judged about how they lived their lives and what will happen to them from then on.

But if that is so, why does this voice refer to her as "Host"? Her next thoughts flurried through her head, such as "What happened to Bea," "How about the trip," "And her luggage," "If I'm dead, who's going to pamper my dog Pepper?"

[Sensing an overload of thoughts. Please calm down. System 5025 assigned to explain.]

"Hello, Host! It is I, System 5025! The greatest system of all time! Would you like me to explain to you what is going on?" The white orb of light disappeared being replaced by a flashing light blue ball of light. The energetic voice emanated from the ball sounded childish and reminded Avina of Bea.

An awkward silence shrouded the both of them when Avina finally summoned her courage to ask a question.

"What happened to me?" Fearful of the answer, Avina prepared herself for the worst answer possible. The worst thing was no one remembering her majesty and talent.

"You have gotten into a car accident triggering the activation of the Villain's Redemption System. As of current, your body is not dead, but in a comatose state," System 5025 calmly answered.

Another pause of silence before Avina continued, "Then, what of my friend Bea? Is she OK?"

"I am unsure. Let me check the database," System 5025 hesitated before answering Avina. It was unsure of who this 'Bea' was and even more unsure of her condition. The blue orb disappeared but soon popped back.

"According to the database, Bea, your friend, is in the hospital. She has minor wounds and is unconscious. She is likely to wake up in the next 3 days."

Feeling a little better, Avina moved onto her last question. "What is this 'system' and the 'Villain's Redemption' thing?"

"The system is a collective force of minor systems, such as I, who are tasked with a Host and objective. As of current, you are my Host. I am a system under the branch 'Villain's Redemption' whose objective is to carry out missions and tasks to so-called villains alongside my Host.

If you are to agree to the contract, you will be willing to fulfill these missions with your system in order to live once more. As of current, your body is in a comatose state unsure of when you will wake up. If you were to sign the contract, we can assure you will wake up perfectly unharmed from this state."

"Then how long must I do these tasks," With unsureness of whether she will wake up, a life-saving option popped before her, but all good things come with a drawback - such as how long this will take her.

"It depends on the merits the Host accumulates during each world. With each world, the host will gain skills, skill points, and merits. The skill points can unlock skills while the merits are used to go back to another world, retry a world, or return to your world."

Although it looked tempting, the system did not completely answer her question. Sure she maybe could earn these merits, but how many merits did she need until she was finally free. Was she going to be worked to death before she could finally live again? But if she did not accept, who knows when she will ever wake up again. When will she ever be able to see her beautiful face or hear her beautiful voice?

Debating on the pros and cons of the choices before her, Avina finally chose to sign the contract.

"Great! If you would please repeat after me. 'I, your name, am willing to sign the Villain's Redemption System Contract abiding by its rule. I will work together with my system to ensure the success of each mission.'"

"I, Avina, am willing to sign the Villain's Redemption System Contract abiding by its rule. I will work together with my system to ensure the success of each mission." After Avina repeated her oath, System 5025 also said its oath.

"I, System 5025, am willing to bind with Host Avina in the Villain's Redemption System Contract abiding by its rule. I will work together with my Host to ensure the success of each mission.

Yay! I'm sure we will succeed with our mission Avina!" At the end of the oath, a sparkling red light appeared between Avina and 5025. It formed a red string tying both orbs of light together before disappearing.

Avina's orb slowly morphed into a person as a faint glow radiated. Her regular appearance appeared once more as she stared at her fingers. 'Perfect. Still looking nice.'

"Host, you can refer to me however you would like to as long as it is appropriate. I will now pull up our first mission statistics as well as your skill statistics."

A light shined once more before a holographic box appeared before Avina.

Name: Avina Ferrina

Intelligence: 70/100

Beauty: 68/100

Talent: 45/100

Skills: N/A

'How rude! I should have a 100 in each one of them! They must not have noticed my great prowess!'

Offended by her statistics, Avina placed her hands on her hips intently staring at the box as if it could change numbers by doing so. Her ears started to blush red as she fumed in annoyance and despised the box for not knowing her prowess.

"Host? Are you alright? Your emotional levels are fluctuating," 5025 asked unsure of what to do with its Host.

"This box appears to be malfunctioning! My intelligence, beauty, and talent are all 100!" Avina angrily poked the box with her index. She poked it a few more times to relieve some more steam.

5025 laughed a little before calming its host, "Do not worry Host. The more you work, the more the statistics will change. It's not completely accurately displaying your complete intelligence, beauty, or talent, but more of a momentary analysis.

Would you like to look at your first mission?"

Avina nodded as a sign of understanding, but she will never accept her numbers! How can the great Avina be of such low numbers! She nodded once more for 5025 to pull out her mission box.
