1 Chill Sundays

Sunday's are usually pretty chill. My big sister was never all that big on church and religious things. Though she was the exact opposite of chill. She was always excited or terrified about something. But usually she wouldn't tell us. When I sat up this morning I looked around my room. A few dirty clothes strewn about here and there, books covering almost every surface, and my medals hanging on the wall. My usual. I liked it this way. I didn't want it to change.

I got up out of my room and was embraced by cold air around the small house we all shared in the country. By "all" I meant my two siblings. My little sister and big brother.

I pulled my gray sweater tighter around myself. This too was a usual in my house. When I turned I noticed my big sister Candace (or as I called her Candy or Can) sitting at the kitchen counter drinking a cup of what I could only assume was either coffee, or alcohol.

When I got closer I could smell coffee, thankfully. When my sister got drunk she talked crazy. Things spilling out of her like a broken cup. I preferred the weird cheerful version of her.

"Hey Can, what's up?"

She just sighed and stretched. Hey long dark hair spilling over her shoulders. Her big round glasses made her remind me of an owl, but she still managed to look good in them. She a had faded bubble gum pink bathrobe over her pajamas and circles under her eyes that make her look like a badger.

"The usual! I found this new app though! It's really interesting. I can hack into..." I zoned out halfway through her rambling.

The kitchen tiles were icy cold under my feet, making me immediately want to go back into my room to get socks. I poured a cup off coffee sipping slowly as Candy talked about some app about hacking.

Recently that was what she was into. But she always was with something new by the time I got to ask her about it again.

"Anyway what are you up to Coraline reef?"

That was her little nickname for me. She had always called me some strange thing that began with C. My actual name was Coronet but I preferred Cory. Most people called me that anyway. Except for Candy of course.

"Nothin Candy. I might go to the library today," I shrugged.

Books were about the only thing I had going on in my life besides a little secret that I kept to myself....

All of a sudden there was a knock on the door. A loud one. I could hear the groaning of my sleeping siblings. Candy rose from her chair to answer it sighing. When she pulled it open I was deeply surprised and severely scared at the person standing at the door.

A police officer. The last thing I needed on my hands today...
