59 Not A Hero 2/4

"Get down!" Ethan shouted his command just seconds before Talia pulled the trigger.

*Bang!* The sound of a gun was always terrifying to average people, and this was no exception as it caused them to scream and panic.

However, due to Ethan's timely command, none of them seemed to be hurt, but of course, Talia wasn't going to stop after one shot.

*Bang! Bang! Bang!* The assassin fired three more shots that were intended to kill Ethan as he was the only threat. She dared to shoot with so many people around because Cadmus didn't necessarily need them to be alive, so she was free to do as she wished.

Bullets were still a bit too fast for Ethan's eyes, but he was strong enough to be bulletproof which Talia didn't expect.

He simply turned around to block the bullets with his back as he was carrying Alex in his arms. Ethan didn't want to move the little boy a lot due to his condition and so he decided to take it hits.

'There goes another set of clothing ruined..' He thought for a moment before handed Alex over to a woman that was in the elevator.

"You carry him up. I'll be up afterward. If I don't see him then you know what happens." Ethan threatened with a growl as the woman fiercely nodded, she was in no position to disagree.

Soon after, he handed Alex over he activated the elevator, sending the people to the top floor.

However, this didn't sit too well with the others that were left behind with him.

"What are you doing?! We still got to get on!" One man said as he tried to stop the elevator from closing with his bare hands.

Seeing this, Ethan simply pulled him away letting the doors close which sent the 7 people left behind into a frenzy.

"You're gonna get us all killed! You monster!" A woman screamed whilst pointing at him.

"Bastard! I have a wife and child waiting for me! You're just going to let us die with you?!" Another man shouted.

"Wow they really don't appreciate your efforts," Talia smirked. "Being a hero really is a thankless job. Reminds me of one foolish bat." She frowned as there was a noticeable look of hate on her beautiful face.

Anyone that knew of DC knew of who she was talking about as she had met the caped hero when he saved her from another assassin by the name of Dr.Darrk. The two had met several other times after that which was enough time for love to sprout, but unfortunately, they belonged to two different worlds.

And she wasn't too happy about it.

" Speaking of foolish, you sent them up without anyone to protect them. They'll just be caught again." She said, pulling out her other pistol.

"I don't give two shits if they die or what they say about me." Ethan scowled.

Talia's trained senses immediately told her that this man was dangerous, and did everything she could to keep her eyes on him. However, as soon as she blinked, his face was a but a few inches away from his.

"Ah?!" The sudden movement startled even the calm Talia. She didn't even have the time to aim her pistols at him before they were snatched from her hands.

"And I'd be more worried about yourself," Ethan said while crushing the pistols into a powder from just the strength of his hands.

The assassin didn't even see him move, the only indication she saw was the cracked floor that was several feet away from where she was standing.

"You! Grrr!" Talia grinded her teeth together as she went to grab her sword, but then she found it to be gone, taken without her noticing.

"What?! Impossible!!" She couldn't believe what was happening, but somehow the sword was in the masked man's hands before it disappeared in front of her eyes.

"Give that back! It was a gift from my father!" Talia was dumbfounded that someone other than Batman could slip through her defenses, but then she was angry as the sword was presented to her by her loving father.

The man was a killer and darn near heartless, but he did love his daughter despite using her in several of his twisted plots.

And even then Talia still chose her father over Bruce.

"So, I've heard. I need to have a small chat with him soon. Do you know where he is?" He asked in a threatening manner.

Soon after he spoke, the Genomorphs started their attack on him. However, these experimental lifeforms were faster and larger than the ones from earlier. All of them even had claws that could make quick work of anyone if caught by them unaware.

"Stay where you are! If one of you move then I can't guarantee you'll live. And remember that I could care less!" He roared, leaping into the oncoming horde of Genomorphs with both fists ready.

The seven people didn't quite like how their supposed savior was treating them, they had a hard time imagining this guy as a superhero. However, seeing him fight was definitely something that was super, or perhaps a better word would be overkill.

The first Genomorph to approach him was blown away by a single punch to its jaw, blasting its entire face away. Seconds later, he was already grabbing one by the face and dragging it along the ground like it was some cart before tossing it into the crowd of Genomorphs.

One of the reasons he let the elevator go with Alex was because he didn't want the boy to witness him killing these experiments like they were mere chickens ready to be slaughtered.

However, these Genomorphs were faster and stronger as some managed to slice his clothes with their horrifying claws. Although instead of hearing the sounds of tearing flesh, they were instead met with sounds of metal clashing against a stone.

It was only a dull scraping noise, Talia at least thought he would be injured but there was only reddened flesh which meant their claws didn't even draw blood.

Seeing this, the assassin started to make her retreat, but then she felt eyes on the back of her head.

"If you move from that position. I'm killing you." Ethan declared in a deep tone as he continued to fight amongst the Genomoprhs that continued to attack him.

Talia had no reason to listen him, but for some reason her feet were planted in the ground, refusing to take another step further.

Even after that day, she couldn't believe she would do something like that, but there she was, listening to another man's orders.

'Really? Me...' Talia clenched her teeth as she continued to watch the man fight and somehow she found it a bit familiar as it reminded her of someone.

"You're related to Lady Shiva aren't you?! Why are you getting in our way!" She shouted. Talia recognized his way of fighting even though his strikes were more overbearing than the League of Assassin's top killer and martial artist.

Sometimes he was fast and sometimes he was slow which gave her enough time to analyze his movements. They still weren't perfect, but when it's someone as strong as him, it didn't quite matter.

"You're just unlucky...I came for the kid." Ethan replied as his right hand became covered in brilliant golden flames. The reason why Talia could recognize his movements was because he took this opportunity to train.

It wasn't the best time, but seeing how these Genomorphs took a bit more effort to kill, he just unconsciously started to go through his forms.

One Genomorph leaped into the air with the intent to drive its claws into Ethan's head. The action didn't get by Ethan as his eyes were already focused on it.

'Step back...control my entire body... step forward with less dominant foot first...transfer that energy to my waist...And exit through the fist!!'

Ethan was able to overpower Diana when he was only at the 2nd stage, he wondered how much more powerful he has gotten since he reached the 3rd stage.

*Crack...BOOOOM!!*

The sound was so loud and devastating that almost the entirety of Cadmus could feel it.

Was it a bomb?

Were they under attack by a group of terrorists?

No, it was done by a single person.

And now there was a giant hole with at least a 30ft diameter in the ceiling that was covered in golden flames which wasn't that impressive by itself, but if one looked closely then they could see that the same hole was present on the next five floors above, easily reaching over 100ft in height and more.

The man that did this was standing in a crater formed from him applying pressure to the ground. He was quite livid that he could do something like that, but he was more impressed by the fact that he was holding back.

"Honeybun! That nearly hit me!" A voice said from above.

There was another reason why he wasn't worried about sending those captives up alone as his help had finally arrived.
