58 Not A Hero 1/4

(A/N: Damn only a few people posted people other than harem members. Haha but I see you guys! The ones that I saw, I'll definitely add them into the story! Thank you for all the responses and information as it gave me a lot to think about.)

'I'll finish this as fast as I can...' Ethan immediately focused on his targets which were about twenty alien life forms all working together to load the levitating platform.

'Wait...these aren't aliens aren't these the creatures Cadmus created? Genomorphs...' He thought as he leaped down from the ceiling, landing on top of one in the lab coat with all his inertia, crushing it as a small crater formed underneath him.

Ethan then swiped the ID it used earlier to activate the elevator.

He had no reason to keep them alive as they were simply bred to become weapons for the Light.

They deserved no mercy.

The Genomorphs couldn't even speak before several of them were dead from a punch to the head, sending their bodies flying in different directions without their heads.

*Screeeecch!!!* One of the most sickening high pitch noises came from their mouths as they all converged on the intruder without fear of death which was just fine for Ethan.

They may have been faster than an average human, but to Ethan, they were far too slow.

Heads were obliterated, and torsos were ripped through like they were paper, sending blood and gore all over the place.

After witnessing the countless deaths, two of them tried to escape to alert the others, however, they didn't get quite far.

'Fire!' Ethan's eyes flashed with red light as a small golden ember appeared in both of his hands before they turned into a brilliant flame. He then threw them like baseballs which knocked them off their feet.

As soon the fire made contact, it engulfed their bodies as if it was alive, burning them until there was nothing left but ashes.

"Now let's- " He stopped as he spotted another one at the corner of his eye. It was tinier than the rest and it crouched down, making itself look even smaller and insignificant.

The horns on top of its head started to glow bright red.

At that moment Ethan remembered that some have the power to communicate. 'Shit!' He cursed in his mind before hurling a ball of fire towards its head, incinerating it within seconds.

"Still not good enough..." He groaned as he grabbed the container where he heard the cries for help, and placed it on the ground without breaking a sweat.

The container was considerably heavy which meant either the material used was heavy or there were a lot of people inside.

On the container, there was a strange lock on the front, but he had no time to figure it out so he simply burned it off with his fire to which it stood no chance.

After that, the container practically fell apart in four sections like dominos revealing a cage full of people underneath. Twenty of them were all bunched up together with only a little space in between. Most of them were only skin and bones with a pathetic excuse of clothes on them which looked more like rags.

"Help! Don't kill us! Heeelp!!" They all screamed for help, but after seeing a person outside of their cage they started to direct their attention to him.

"Help! Please let us out of here!!" a man shouted as he gripped the steel bars with all the strength he currently had which wasn't a lot after the hell he been through.

What they all been through...

"Calm down. I'm going to get you guys out of here, but you gonna have to stick with me as close as you can. We are in a dangerous place. If you don't follow my instructions then I can't guarantee your life. Is that understood?!" Ethan shouted.

He knew all too well about how average humans act when they are afraid as they are prone to make fatal mistakes. Although he only came for Alex, but he doesn't have the heart to just abandon people outright.

However, if they don't listen to him then they forfeit the chance of survival.

The people quickly agreed to his command and he'd rip apart the cage with brute strength, surprising all of them while increasing their faith in him.

Soon they hopped off of the platform and gathered around Ethan until there was one boy left in the cage.

It was Alex!

However, he didn't look too good as he was breathing quite heavily with a flushed face.

"What's wrong with him?!" Ethan leaped into the cage and carefully lifted the boy into his arms. The boy looked extremely weak from up close and seeing his state caused Ethan to panic a little inside.

"He was like that when we arrived. He was actually crying not too long ago, but now he barely makes any noise..." One of the captives said.

"Just leave him. Take us out of here!" Another captive demanded which he soon regretted.

"QUIET!! I'm not saving you guys because I want to!" He roared, grabbing the neck of the man who dared utter such words, lifting him in the air.

" I only came for the boy! If he dies then I have no problem leaving you to these guys!" Ethan shouted, causing the captives to pay attention to the corpses that were scattered across the ground.

Seeing the dead alien beings, severely horrified the captives as they started to scream.

"I said QUIET!" He shouted again as an invisible pressure brings them down to their knees. The captives couldn't even look at him in the eye as they were too frightened.

"I-I'm sorry! We'll listen! We'll listen!" The man in his grasp said to which Ethan only scowled before throwing him onto the ground.

"Alex...You're going to be ok. Stay strong for me." Ethan gently said as leaned in closer to the boy's face to see what was wrong with him.

'He looks like he has a fever...and a pretty bad one too. And they all did nothing?!...' He clenched his teeth as he brought out a bottle of water from his inventory ring.

"Alex...drink this you'll feel a bit better."

"Are...you...superhero?.." Alex weakly asked followed by a fit of coughing.

There was no way Ethan could claim that title, and even now he doesn't want it, but for the boy.

"Yeah, I'm a superhero. They call me Batman."

"Y-you're...not him...liar."

"Haha, I know..." Ethan couldn't think of a name as he never quite thought of it.

So...steal one!

"My name is actually Nightwing. How about that? Cool name right?" He grinned behind his mask. 'Sorry, Dick...I'm taking your name for the moment.'

"Drink this water, ok?"

"Mnn.." Alex nodded his head right before Ethan started to pour the water into his mouth. The boy drank all that he could before he started to cough again, forcing Ethan to stop.

"That's good enough.." Ethan then put the water away and pulled out a towel to gently wipe his mouth. "I'm going to get you out of here ok? So stay strong for me."

"Will...I go back to Uncle, Mr.Nightwing?... I don't wanna..." Alexa weakly shook his head.

" I want mommy and daddy...but he said I'll never see them again...' Tears started to come down his eyes. "I hate him..."

"I'll do something about it...don't worry...I'm a superhero.." He said as he cringed on inside. 'Do it for the kid!..'

"R-Really?-" Alex stopped to cough again, but then there was a small smile on his face.

"Let's go. We're going to the elevator." Ethan commanded as he walked the way he came from to get to the elevator while keeping an eye on the boy.

They were a bit reluctant to follow after him, but seeing how he was getting further away, they finally caved in and chased after him.

Ethan felt slightly bad as he wanted to check out more of this place and quite possibly destroy it as even though he's not a hero, he won't let people try to mess with the world he's living in.

However, that's just how life is, you never know how it's going to go unless you can see the future.

It was almost a 5-minute sprint to the elevator, it wasn't a lot of time, but it was enough for the supposed backup to get on the elevator that the Genomirphs poured out of earlier.

Ethan could hear the sound of it turning on which meant that someone was coming or maybe they were going to a different floor.

*Screeeech*

They weren't.

Captives were forced to cover their ears as they screamed in panic, they were still on the edge from earlier.

"Don't look back, just get on the elevator," Ethan commanded in a loud voice after using the ID he swiped earlier to activate it

.

The people didn't need to be told twice as they immediately boarded the elevator one after the other, but they soon ran into a problem.

There wasn't enough space for all of them.

"Let me on!"

"Move out of the way!"

"They told me some rats were trying to escape, but I didn't know that there was a big one here." A woman's voice said.

Ethan looked back to see a rather tall Arabic woman that wore a tight leather suit that was a mix of black and green. She was absolutely stunning with her long brown hair and eyes that showed that she held experience that most would never come to have.

The woman carried two pistols on her curvy hips, and a sword strapped to her back which from this angle looked similar to the one Sandra had

.

'Talia...'

Ethan would be lying if he didn't find the dangerous assassin beautiful, but now was definitely not the time.

"Where did you get that mask?" She asked as a group of Genomorths and assassins stood behind her.

"eBay..."

"...." Talia didn't know what to say, but she immediately frowned and drew one of her pistols.

"Get down!!"
