22 Last Laugh Part 2/3

"Stop!"

Ethan and Harley looked back to see Barbara who finally made her way down. She had spotted Harley brutally breaking the Joker's bones with her bat as Ethan continued to hold him down despite his groans of pain that were mixed with laughter.

"Yip..pie help has arrived... b-between you and me...I like you... better than Batman.." Joker said, struggling to talk as he coughed.

"Go home brat girl." Harley scowled as she slammed her foot on top of the villain's face, forcing a painful groan out of his mouth.

("Ethan! Don't let that costume girl die!) Tydris suddenly shouted in Ethan's mind just as a cloud of darkness shoots up from the floor and dashes towards Barbara with what looked to be a knife.

'What?!' Ethan's eyes flash with a red light as he dashes in front of Barbara. He didn't know what it was and so he decided to use his breath attack.

Better safe than sorry.

*Wooosh!* Ethan expels his hot golden flames, creating a wall of fire that illuminated the area just as there was a horrifying screech.

The light was bright enough to show exactly what the shadow was, and Ethan couldn't believe it.

"Alisa?"

It was Alisa!

He knew it was her even though her eyes were now pitch black and her skin was now light purple. The girl had a singular horn poking out from her head, and her clothes were torn and covered in some kind of black substance.

Alisa continued to scream as the breathe attack set her shirt on fire, and she made the quick decision to rip it off.

"Why are you in my way!" She screamed, brandishing the large kitchen knife in her hand as a red aura coats her body.

"What? What happened to you!?" He curiously asked.

Alisa began to hysterically laugh before looking at Ethan with a smile, "I missed you so much! Ah!~ I wanna hold you, squeeze you, AND KISS YOU~...But for that to happen...THEY NEED TO DIE!!"

'Tydris what is going on?!' Ethan said as Alisa disappeared from her position only to reappear behind Barbara to try to stab her again.

But luckily, Ethan was there to kick her away, sending her flying towards a wall. However, before the impact, she turned into a cloud of darkness and disappeared once again.

("I knew I sensed something that night...That girl is a demon spawn! But more specifically a Blood Demon. They grow stronger when they are in contact with fresh blood...")

'I smelled so much blood coming off her...Why is she trying to kill this girl first? I have nothing to do with her?' Ethan asked Tydris as his eyes dart around the room, looking for Alisa.

His senses seemed to not work whenever she disappears in her cloud form.

("She must not be fully conscious of what she's doing, but if I had guess then she's unconsciously avoiding your mate because she senses your essence on her. All of the blood on her has dried up. If she gets more blood then she'll be stronger than you!")

"You, girl! Get out of here!" Ethan shouted, stepping back a bit, getting in her personal space.

Barbara felt relieved to have someone protect her, but she came down here for a reason.

And that was to...well stop him!

"But!-"

"You'll only be in the way!" He interrupted her with another shout, pushing her away just as Alisa appeared in the air to lunge at her with the knife. The quick reaction caused her to get her knife stuck in a nearby table.

Barbara didn't want to believe it, but she was nearly killed two times already. However, what she couldn't believe more was the fact that Ethan was still protecting her.

'Damn it...!' Barbara quickly turned around and started to run back up the stairs to escape while informing Dick of the situation.

"Ethan...Ethan...ETHAN!" Alisa screamed as she dug her knife out of the table.

"Why are you protecting her?! Don't you want me?!!" She asked as she prepared to disappear again.

*Pow!* Suddenly, a baseball bat crashes into her face, knocking her off her feet.

"I DON'T KNOW WHO YOU ARE BUT STAY AWAY FROM MY MAN!" Harley shouted, dashing over to the woman with her eyes flashing red. The blonde was already pissed off by the Joker, but hearing those words pissed her off even more.

After Alisa shook off the pain, her pitch-black eyes suddenly form red irises that locked onto the approaching villainess.

"YOU!! YOU WERE ONE OF THE GIRLS THAT STOLE HIM FROM ME!!" Alisa screamed as the air around her seemed to vibrate. She wanted to tear that woman into tiny little pieces and drink her blood!

But before she acted she would sense that there was a lot of fresh blood somewhere. It seemed like she regained a bit of clarity as her eyes would spot the immobilized Joker.

"Blood!!" Alisa grinned maliciously as she transforms into a cloud of smoke and vanishes into thin air.

Ethan noticed where the girl looked and he took off the second she disappeared.

'Do I have to kill her?' He asked Tydris.

("When blood demons awaken to their power they are thrown into a death arena where they kill others to bathe in their blood. They only regain their sanity after they had enough blood to absorb! And even then they have cravings. Some blood demons go years without regaining their sanity, and the longer it takes the stronger they will be once they regain their sanity. However, because of this, their own demon brethren sought out to destroy them...") Tydris quickly explained.

("You'll have to kill her.. to stop her..")

'Damn.' Ethan gritted his teeth. He wasn't ready to take someone's life especially when they aren't even sane enough to understand reason.

'But..she'll be stronger than me if she has fresh blood. I...have no choice!'

Alisa appeared beside Joker moments before Ethan arrived.

"..Wow...you..look worse..then...me. Haha-Ahhhh!!!" The joker couldn't even laugh fully as a knife was plunged straight into his arm, cutting apart his flesh to let the blood flow.

Although before Alisa could even relish the fresh blood a strange echoey voice was heard.

"Azarath Metrion Zinthos!" The voice said as cocoon shaped out of dark energy covered Alisa before she was tossed aside like a pebble, crashing into a nearby wall.

Alisa couldn't shift into her cloud form and so she ended up taking all of the trauma being slammed into the wall.

Soon after, a shadow in the form of a raven appeared from the ground, and from it was a woman wearing a recognizable violet-blue cloak.

Ethan knew immediately who she was after hearing those words.

"Raven!?"

Hearing her named being called, Raven frowned and looked down at Ethan with her glowing eyes.

"Who are you?" She asked with a somewhat deep voice. Her empath abilities quickly activate, sensing that Ethan knew her or knew of her. However, it has to be impossible because she hasn't interacted with anyone here yet, not even the Justice League who she wished to get in contact with after hearing of their exploits.

She hesitated on involving them and decided to meditate on it until she felt a reaction from the girl. The half-demon tracked her for an entire day, however, she managed to slip away until now.

Raven wanted to know even more about Ethan, but before she could dive any deeper, a roar from a dragon overloaded her senses, kicking her out of his mind.

Raven gripped her head in pain as she looked at him in shock, "You-"

Her control over her power weakened which was enough for Alisa to slip out, and disappear after a cloud of smoke.

Alisa then quickly appeared in front of Raven to stab her but was stopped by a strong hand.

("Release your essence! She won't be able to escape!")

Ethan suddenly growled, releasing his essence that came in the form of a golden aura that wrapped around him. He then lifted Alisa off the ground, forcing her to drop the knife.

His dragonic essence doesn't play nice with her kind which was the reason why she was in pain from the golden flames that still burned in the room.

"AHHHH!!" Alisa lets out an ear-piercing scream as black ink-like tears started to fall from her eyes. She desperately tried to free herself, but she couldn't budge from Ethan's iron grip.

During this moment, Harley had picked up her bat and walked over to them with thoughts of beating the girl to death.

'I'll kill her first!' She thought.

However, she was stopped by Ethan's hand.

"Why are you stopping me!?" Harley asked with a shout mixed with a growl.

'Harley, calm down.' Ethan mentally said to her as he gazed deeply into her eyes.

The villainess gnashed her teeth at this, but eventually, she let's go of her anger, her eyes returning to their normal blue color.

"...I love you, but I also hate you right now, Honeybun." She sighed greatly before her lips curled up into a smile.

"You're not gonna let her go are ya? I'm insane but I know she's dangerous." Harley said.

"No...I'm not letting her go..." Ethan sighed, shaking his head. He couldn't believe this situation. They were supposed to get her hyenas, kill Joker, and then leave.

"Where's Bud and Lou?" He asked.

Harley pointed in the far corner of the room, and there huddling together was the two furry animals. The two seemed to be frightened by something, but Ethan could only imagine scared them.

He then focused his gaze back on the struggling girl as her purple skin started to show cracks with golden light starting from her face.

"...I'm sorry Alisa."
