75 Lightning

A/N: So, I apologize for being gone for a while as a lot of things have been happening. Also, I had a bit of trouble writing this chapter as I was trying to figure out the best way for this fight to go. And well...I hope you like it. I'll see ya at the next one.

In the back of Ethan's mind, he wanted to know the reason why the Trench King was different in this world.

He wasn't supposed to be a giant and he wasn't supposed to be able to regenerate as he did just moments ago.

And what he said earlier was strange and a bit concerning.

However, whenever Ethan remembered that the Trench King nearly ended the life of one of his mates, he couldn't help but become furious.

And then he had the audacity to call it a joke?

A JOKE?!

Watching Ethan become angry caused Harley to have mixed feelings as on one side she was happy to see him this way as it showed that he really cared about her, but on the other hand it meant that she still wasn't strong enough.

'I have to be stronger...I have to or I won't be able to follow him...' Harley thought as she bit down on her lower lip. Unbeknownst to her, something started to change within the deepest parts of her soul.

During that moment, Pamela's eyes momentarily flash green as she glanced at Harley with a frown on her face. She then let out a sigh and placed a hand over her stomach before looking up at the night sky.

'No matter what I love him...if you are going to get in our way then...I promise you that I will spend every waking moment of my life ridding you off the face of this planet...don't think for a second I don't know what you're trying to do...'

"I'm going to enjoy this!"

The Trench king made a move, throwing a punch towards Ethan's abdomen several times faster than a trained boxer.

However, the Ethan right now could see it!

'Everything feels so slow...' He thought as he put up a hand to block the attack. Ethan was still furious, but at the same time, he was amazed at how much stronger he had become.

How much stronger would he be if reached the higher stages?

*Boom!* Sand went everywhere after the impact creating a massive crater that allowed ocean water to come closer to land.

Trench King was surprised that his attack was easily stopped, but he continued to keep a smile on his face as water filled the area.

Due to his physiology, he becomes stronger when there was water present.

And now there was a whole lot!

With a grin, the Trench King started to move faster which in turn increased the power of his attacks.

*BOOm! Boom! BOOM!* Each blow sounded like a bomb going off, and anyone unlucky enough to be caught in amidst of the source would have been blown to pieces.

"Master!-" Myra tried to step in, but was stopped by Raven.

Despite the severity of those attacks, none of them seemed to affect Ethan as all he had to show was a few light scrapes on his scales.

"So, you are a bit stronger...no matter. I'll just use even more of the power he gave me!" Trench King laughed as the previous white skin on his body turned jet black in a matter of seconds. Soon after, his once bulky body started to slim down, compacting his muscles until he had the body of an athlete swimmer. Everything else stayed the same except for his teeth that changed into a dark red color making it seem like they were dyed in blood.

"You won't stand a chance against me now." He said as he cracked his neck. "But first...I know you're still holding back...You got more strength hidden away...I'll tell you now if you don't use it...you might just lose...."

"Something!" The creature suddenly

disappeared in front of Ethan's eyes, appearing in front of Harley who was still shaken up from earlier.

Within that second, he could have attacked Harley again, but then his danger signals went off, causing him to step back.

"What-"

"HAND OVER YOUR LIFE!!!" Ethan suddenly roared, shaking the earth beneath them as he grabbed the unsuspecting creature by his face and threw him out towards the ocean in one swift motion.

*Crackle* A crackling sound could be heard coming from Ethan's body as electricity started to wrap around his body. First, it was small but then in a flash, it grew in size creating almost a fluorescent blue aura that moved crazily around him.

Ethan could easily use fire magic now almost like second nature, but when it came to lightning he always had a bit a trouble with it.

During that one week of training with Sandra, he had asked Tydris about it. Of course, the dragon was angry at him still for focusing more on martial arts but eventually told him something that he didn't get until now.

'Ugh, it's still so hard to use lightning. The most I can do is use it for a couple of seconds before it fizzles out. Why did I want to try this one again?.. Maybe I'm just not meant to use it.' Ethan complained. He had taken a small break on the ground after sparing with Myra to practice a little with magic.

("Golden dragons are masters of all elements. Your head is just filled with useless thoughts. You learning from a human isn't helping either.") Tydris scoffed.

'I told you the reason why I'm learning martial arts. I want to learn how to control my body better. If I can figure out that then I think I can even use even more power for fights when it's needed. And news flash there's only been two golden dragons from what you told me. How do you know that I can master all elements?' Ethan mentally asked.

("I know because you are my successor! However, if you continue to be this way then there is no hope for you!") Tydris roared.

("It's an insult to our kind to even think about learning the ways of a human. Humans are a deplorable race. They are so weak and puny...they have to rely on lies and manipulation! If it weren't for them...then I-")

'Then why did you choose a human to be your successor? What made me different?' Ethan asked Tydris.

("...") There was only silence after Ethan asked the question which left him feeling a bit angry.

'Keeping your secrets will one day backfire on you. I just want you to know that.' Ethan frowned as he picked himself off the ground.

("...Lightning is one of the more difficult elements to control. You can't control it the same way you control fire. Fire is like feeling rage or excitement...It heats one's body. On the other hand, lightning is different. Lightning is pure power...its...destruction.")

It all happened in a flash, Harley caught a glimpse of the Trench King's body as he charged towards Ethan. However, Ethan was even faster and dashed forward to meet his opponent head-on.

The Trench King looked on in fear as his eyes were blinded by a brilliant blue light. He could feel his danger signals go off in his head, but now...

It was far too late...

*BOOOOOM!!* If the early sounds were like bombs then this was a step further as it was powerful enough to part the ocean as a concentrated beam of lightning ripped through the air.

The beam would go on for quite sometime before disappearing into the distance.

Thousands of the Trench screamed in terror as they swam deeper into the ocean to get away. They quietly stayed around in the cold waters as per the order of their King, but now...

There wasn't a king.

Not even a speck of him was left behind!!

Mera happened to witness this from far away and she couldn't believe her eyes. She had been looking for Ethan all day to speak to him.

For what reason?

She didn't know, but she wanted to confirm something about him.

After nearly giving up she heard of a disturbance near the ocean and made her way over.

Her eyes were then met with thousands of creatures belonging to the Trench attacking humans.

It was not her place to save them as she despised them, but then in a matter of moments, the man she was looking for showed up.

She watched as the man and the women effortlessly take them down one by one while evacuating the injured.

Mera believed the incident would be over soon, but then she saw the massive Trench King who normally doesn't show itself.

'It's over for them...' She thought, however, she then realized that something was majorly different with the Trench King.

And then she could have sworn she heard it talk!

It was impossible, but then she saw it using abilities that it shouldn't even possess.

Was it using magic?

Mera was curious as it could spell trouble for her Kingdom, and just when things weren't strange enough it started to go through a metamorphosis which gave her a sense of dread.

The Xebelian was about to leave the area, but something happened that made her stop in her tracks.

The man she wanted to talk with was surrounded by what looked to be lightning and in the next moment, she saw a tyrannical beam of blue light burst through the air like a cannon.

And then the Trench King was gone...

Mera didn't know what to think nor did she know what she was going to do next.

Seeing so much raw power was an eye-opener for her as she believed she still had a shot at defeating him if it comes down to it.

But now...it was impossible.

That thought alone frustrated her as she's always been fairly strong so much so that her strength was recognized back in Xebel...

Mera wasn't oblivious as she knew that her father also had planned on attacking humans after they deal with Atlantis.

However, is it possible now with someone such as Ethan was living on land?

And before she knew it she was making her way towards the shore.

"Hubby!"

"Honeybun!"

"Ethan!"

"Master!".

The girls all called out to him as he made his way back on land.

Ethan was a bit drained after that final attack, he looked a bit distant and was visibly shaking until he felt arms wrap around his waist.

"It's all over," Pamela whispered as she rubbed his back. He never really thought about it before, but just being beside the redhead calmed his nerves. His muscles then relaxed as his body returned to normal as a soft warm energy penetrated his skin.

'I love you...' He mentally said to Pamela to which she replied. 'I know.' followed by a smirk as she gentle peck on the cheek.

"Honeybun I'm so sorry! If I was strong enough then-" Ethan covered Harley's mouth, halting her words as a slight smile forms on his lips.

"Let's go home. The temporary one that is." He said with a slight chuckle.

Harley still had so much to say, but seeing him smile at her made her feel like everything was going to be ok and she simply nodded her head before squeezing past Pamela to embrace him.

"I'll get us out of here," Raven said as she prepared to teleport everyone away, but then they heard a voice.

"Wait!!"

In a separate dimension laid a place filled to the brim with death and evil. The ground was black as ink as dark clouds loomed overhead.

Life was nonexistent in the place and yet there were two people were conversing with each other in a cave-like structure.

"Hmm...So he died..." A low guttural voice said.

"I told you he wouldn't live Hehehe! You should have sent me instead! Things would have been more... FUN!!" Another voice said with a slight fit of laughter.

"....Your time will come, but not now. Everything is still well within my calculations. No matter how hard they struggle or how powerful they become...I will be the one who leads the universe into darkness."

"Oh poo, you're no fun you know that." The earlier voice said as soon a figure appeared in the cave from a wisp of black smoke.

It was a man dressed in entirely black, and if Ethan saw him then he probably would have run away in his current state.

There was a spiked metal guard around his eyes as well as a giant mouth that smiled constantly, showing off his disgusting yellow teeth.

"Hmm...now what was I doing?... Ah yes, I was looking for more recruits to join our fantastic party. I'm sure they'll have no problems with the cause...Hahahahaha!!" The man dressed in black laughed suddenly disappeared leaving behind the other person.

If one looked closer there was a person standing upside down on the ceiling. His figure was covered in a ripped hooded robe Only his glowing red eyes could be seen as he stared at the cavern walls.

'He's weaker than I thought...but I'll never underestimate that dragon again' He thought as the entire dimension started to shake, causing massive earthquakes that broke apart the jet black surface.

'I'm afraid you're the successor won't be able to fight me...It's so sad to see him in such a way as I crush him between my fingers...I'll make you pay for everything that you did...Soon I will be the only DRAGON!'

Trench King was barely a warm-up for Ethan who will be his official villain that will push him to the limit?

The Light?

Trigon?

The old woman that wants to meet Ethan as per the request through the FML agency?

I didn't forget!

What's up with Pamela?

More things to come and after this last side chapter, it will then follow Harley more closely!
