Meeting Titus

It's been a few days I've been in rehabilitation. The physiotherapist said I have a great start. Also, I've been secretly doing more exercises on my own so I can start walking normally. There are handrails on the walls all over the hospitals and whenever I was bored, I would try to limp to the handrails to support myself and get out of my room. I've been caught by Nurse Jane once and was heavily reprimanded. She said I should rest more. Also, I received news from my university. They decided to transfer me to their new campus so that it is easier for me to continue my course. They've also given me my account to start self studying online. Moreover, I have to pass all the online test as well as sit for a final paper when I get back to university. My mother wanted me to go back to school later, but I convinced her that I could do it. I was determined to get my degree. The university I am in is top 3 in Country X and has a world ranking. It is one of the most prestigious school here. In my previous life, I had dropped out of university even though I had good grades. I listened to my mother to rest longer and chased after Titus to earn his love. I thought he would feel pity for me after being in a car accident and would spend more time with me. Boy, did I thought wrong.

My brother came to visit me while I was doing my rehabilitation sessions. He, too, said I was pushing myself too hard. These days, we seem to get along better. Also I had collected a list of data of potential enemies targeting our family's wealth and companies that have shady business that might want to collaborate with the Lee Enterprise. Kace was truly surprise when I sent him the document. I had also sent him other data about other business that will flourish in the near future that we should invest in. For the first time, he thanked me nicely and then proceeded to tell me that I still owe him. What a great guy for reminding me about my debts.

I told my family to not tell anyone that I have brain tumour. I feel like I should keep it a secret. After all, I have many unknown enemies in the future. It's also not good to spread the news of your illness to everyone. You attract pity. I hate the pitiful stares I've gotten in my previous life. It's like a reminder that I was going to die. My mother wholeheartedly agreed with me and I believe it is because she wanta to forget her daughter might be dying. She feels this way because I was in coma for a long time and she doesn't want to lose her daughter again. It's better for me as she doesn't act like she's crying the whole time. My dad on the other hand, is trying to find me the best doctors from America and bringing me medicinal herbs for me to drink. Only Kace acts normal around me.

As I was in a deep thought while holding on the handrail for dear life, my knees felt like buckling as I had reached the limit of my strenuous workout today. I've been trying to walk for an hour so that my muscle can strengthen. My physiotherapist told me not to overdo it, however, I feel restless not being able to move my body as I wished. My mother suggested to start going to a psychiatrist to lessen my emotional trauma. As I feel the last of my strength slipping away from my legs, I knew I was going to fall. I brace myself for the impact and cursed myself for not listing to Nurse Jane advice to rest up.

I felt warmth surrounding my wrist and waist. Someone was trying to hold me up. Thankfully, I did not hit the ground. I would get a bruise and get scolded by nurse Jane. As I peeked open my eyes, my body froze. What the- Familiar obsidian eyes looked back at me. Dark hair framed his face. Panic started to rise in me. I steadied my feet and let go of him. Him. Him. Him. Why is Titus here? As adrenaline passed through me, I had the strength to push myself off him and backed away to the nearest wall. I closed my eyes and breathe a full mouth of air to calm me down. Flashbacks of my previous life cut open my head and force me to revisit them. "Get away from me." "Don't ever touch me." "You're a waste of my time." "Why would I ever see you again." As I tried to control my panic, I heard a deep voice with a pinch of worry asked me, "Are you okay? I didn't hurt you, right?"

I lifted up my face and erased the terror off from my face. I arranged my face so that I look calm. I tried to open my mouth as I cling onto the fabric of the hospital gown. Say something Ambar Lee. This isn't the past. You're better than that. I mentally encouraged myself. At first, my voice came out croaky so I tried talking again. "No, I'm fi- fine. You just surprised me. That's all."

"Do you need a helping hand to bring you to your room?" Titus asked. In my head I was surprised he treated me decently. Well, he was my brother's best friend. Before I chased him in my previous life, he used to be kind to me. Also I had known him for years as our mothers were best friends.

"No. I can walk fine. What are you doing here?" I asked casually, sliding my shaking hand behind my back. I supported myself on the hand rail and walked at a snail pace towards my hospital room. Luckily, I did not go too far from my room. "Kace told me you woke up and is doing fine. So, I wanted to pay you a visit. Also my mum asked me to bring over some get-well-soon gifts," Titus said as he showed me the basket full with fruits and expensive looking health drinks like ginseng. "Thank you, erm, for the basket and saving me earlier." Dammit, he saved me. "Hey, no problem." He smiled devilishly handsome. Don't get too affected Ambar. He's a red flag. A danger zone. Don't get too close.

"Why are you outside your room anyways?" Titus asked. I looked sideways at him as I limped towards the door of my room. "Taking a walk." Being the gentleman he is, Titus pushes open the door for me and held my hand so I could support myself by walking to the bed. "Thanks again." How many times do I have to thank him. I was getting irritated in my head. Titus places the basket on the table next to my bed and poured me a cup of water. As he handed my the cup, he said, "I didn't know taking a walk was that hard. You looked like a dying whale." He teased me. His face was in a relaxed manner and his dimples was showing. He looked charismatic. "Hmm. You can't tease a patient. I'm too weak, remember?" "Ya, you looked like an old grandma holding onto the handrail like it's the whole world," he smoothly replied.

You were my whole world once. You were the worst regret I had in my previous life.

"Yeah, yeah. Make fun of me all you want. How's the new girl going?" "What new girl?" Titus said innocently.

"Don't play dumb. Kace told me all about it. He said you were in L-O-V-E."

"Kace sure did exaggerate. Nothing could get past you siblings."

"Hell yeah. Stop changing the topic. I've known you for a long time. Tell me all about her," I demanded.

"Fine," he huffed as he decided to give in to me. I smiled sweetly. In my heart I know his answer.

"Her name is Tan Xia Lin. I met her at the Gala last month. I don't love her, but I do like her. She interests me," he said with a faint pink of his cheeks. "Kace was right. You are so in love with her," I teased him. It is her. Tan Xia Lin. She made her move. I may looked carefree on the outside, I had started planning my revenge in my head. The extra information was worth it. I did some simple calculations mentally and predicted that Xia Lin probably had not met Nan Zhi Shang yet. Since Nan Zhi Shang had just recently built his company and he had just gotten fame, he would not be Xia Ling's prey yet. It'll probably take a month or two for them to meet.

"I've never heard of her before. What does she do?" I asked patiently. In my previous life, she had gotten a job at Zhang Pharma Corporation. Since she had became Titus' girlfriend, she became his secretary.

"Right now, she's interning at our company. She does a good job and she graduated from Xia Men University," Titus proudly replied.

"Oh, wow. She's that good huh. Why not make her your secretary," I slyly asked. "I'll think about it," he smirked unabashedly. I silently shook my head. It's going to be your downfall. Titus used to be very observant man. He's blinded by Xia Lin's acting. Love really blinds you. "What about you? I heard you're going to start school again once you're discharge," he asked. "Yeah, I've got a long way to go,"I replied solemnly. My gaze turned faraway as I thought of my previous life. I looked at the window and saw birds chirping on trees. "Why don't you rest longer. You did just got out of coma." Titus asked me without a hint of sympathy which was refreshing. "That's what everyone has been telling me. Well, it's my life. I could do whatever I want," I said with a hint of reminder to myself. "You do you. Alright I have to get going. There's a meeting at 3.00." Titus rose up from the chair. Before he left he said, "Don't work yourself too hard! Take care Ambar." He gave me boyish smile and turned his back. His taut muscles showed through his shirt.

I felt the energy drained out of me as I kept the facade of being friendly while I was with Titus. How did Xia Lin keep up with her innocent facade. It was tiring to keep my face muscles in a blissful expression. I am going to get used to putting up a facade and putting up walls around my heart. Thank god Titus visited me for half an hour. I could passed out from acting if he stayed for an hour. I patted myself on my shoulder. I was great. I acted natural around him like an old friend. I laid back down on the bed and sighed. Would Titus suspect me of acting strangely when he first met me in the hallway? It was a habit I had in my previous life. He used to shout for me to leave him alone. Even when I grazed him in my previous life, he used to get angry at me and acted so coldly. It was weird for me to see him being so normal and kind now. It was like a switched was off and his demons were kept at bay.

As Titus left the room, he looked up the ceiling. "Why was Ambar so scared of me when I caught her from falling down?" he thought. He shrugged it off. She did just came out of a coma. She probably has some emotional trauma. He walked away in a deep thought. At that moment his phone rang. His screen showed a pretty girl holding some flowers. He pressed the answer button on his smart phone. "Hello, Xia Lin. You're at the coffee shop already? Yeah I just finished my business.... Okay, I'll see you there. Love you."
