1 Departure

I woke up to the sound of the heart rate monitors beeping again.

It's not a new noise but it is one I wish I didn't have to hear.

Every day I wake up to the same noise day in and day out before some nurse comes in and gives me my medicine for the day.

Sometimes it's administered via an IV tube, sometimes it's just a pill.

Usually, I get tired after the medicine, however, if I am awake enough I will play some Call Of Duty and Battlefield just to experience exciting situations to stimulate myself.

It's not the real deal but I like to believe it is.

Today was a little different however because my parents came and saw me today.

It's nice when they come to see me because I realize I'm not alone when they are here.

My friends visit me sometimes, but it's hard to have friends when you're stuck at a hospital 24/7.

I have a lot of friends on Dis**rd but they aren't on very often due to school and such so usually I'm idling around in my bed all day waiting for tomorrow.

My parents came in but instead of the usual smiling and telling me it will just be a few more weeks, they came in crying and hugging me.

I'm 18 I know what that usually implies when they do that.

*sigh*

Looks like it's going to end soon.....

Damn, I wished I could have seen the world just a little bit instead of being stuck at this stupid hospital forever.

It looks like my parents are saying they are going to insert a needle into me so I pass away without much pain.

I tell them it's alright and I slowly fade away while I hear my parent's sobs in the background.

I'm happy that they loved me this much and helped me along the way until the very end.

I don't really want to die but it happens to the best of us.

That was until I immediately woke up to what looked like an interview for a job like I had seen in the movies I've watched.

The person in front of me had glasses on with a doctor's coat over a t-shirt that was grey, he had wavy black hair and wasn't even looking at my face.

We sat there in silence for a good two minutes before I decided it was time to break the ice.

"Uh, Hi," I said.

The man just nodded and kept on doing his work like I didn't even exist in front of him.

"So um, where am I and why am I here?"

"You're getting judged to see where you are going next in life."

The man acted like this wasn't unusual and kept looking over the dozens of papers that were in front of him.

I decided that if this was a place where I get judged by these sorts of beings I should probably just stay quiet.

I looked around to see a big bookshelf that held lots of binders that had two initials on the spine of the binder.

I also saw a small figure of a BoTW Link on the bookshelf.

I chuckled to myself and thought that it was cool that he had that in his office.

Finally, after another five minutes, he finally looked up at me with a shocked expression.

He looked over the papers once again and looked up and down switching from me to the papers and back again.

He coughed and said," So it looks like you are going to be a special case here today Mr. Max."

I looked up at him," What do you mean by special case?"

"Well looking at this it seems that you are going to be in one of our special programs that we just established."

"Am I going to die again?"

The man frowned and responded with "maybe"

I didn't understand but he was one step ahead and started explaining what I was going to have to do in the near future.

"Usually people are sent to four different places, Heaven, Hell, Limbo, and Reincarnation. Usually, when someone comes here to get judged depending on the person, we put them in the corresponding areas. Most people go to heaven and hell with reincarnation being the least place people go to. Some lunatics still remember their past lives and try to write stories about them, but thankfully most people don't believe the authors so we just let them be."

I nodded and pushed him away from the topic, "So why am I a special case?"

The man looked at me and smiled saying, "Well that's because you haven't done much except play video games and watch tv because you were in a hospital."

"So where am I going?"

"You're going to be the first living person to go into a different timeline to fix some sh*t that some other people are messing up," he responded casually.

Great, so I'm a guinea pig that's just wonderful.

"But since you are the first one to do this you will get a cheat from god."

I perked up my ears at the thought of gaining something from god whether it was a system or a treasure I would be surely glad to keep it.

I tried to keep a calm facade and said, "What am I getting from him then?"

Then the man said five words that changed my life forever.

"You're getting a war system."
