Prologue

Park Jaehee was a fickle woman when it came in terms of money. Life hadn't been easy on her, her parents left her at an orphanage, her foster parents abandoned her as soon as they had another child and currently she was working herself to death in her job. Among all these misfortunes, the one thing that could give her salvation were historical romance novels. She loved reading those and they were the only way she could keep living in this miserable life of hers. There was one novel that she particularly loved reading.

"Godwin's Crown"

A historical romance novel which she had read so many times that she knew the book word by word. Little did she know, that the very next day she would wake up in that same novel and her life wouldn't be the same as it ever had been.

The Night Before-

The old rusty door creaked as I flung it open. I sighed with relief that there were no traces of burglary in my house. I could smell gasoline nearby but i shrugged it off. Must have been the crazy lady next door. I washed up and started looking for updates on my treasured novel " Godwin's Crown". No sign of any updates from the author. I was slightly disappointed but due to my stomach growls that could have been mistaken for a tiger's, I went to the kitchen to make some instant noodles. It should have been called the food of God. After-all, I survived the past 21 years by slurping down this delicious stuff.

I went to my room reread the novel and slept. I was woken by a burning sensation all around my body. My eyes couldn't see anything except fire and smoke. i coughed in smoke, the building was burning like crazy, pieces of debris rained down and my vision was nothing scarlet haze and the smell of burning rubber.

'So this is how I die. It's unfair but what can I do?"

In my last moments, all I could think was that there were no such things as second chances. But I couldn't bring myself to believe that there was no hope. Maybe there was hope after all.

I dreamt after dying. Everything was pitch black, as if the whole universe was dipped in a pot of black ink. In the midst of the darkness I saw three old women sniping thread. They continued to cut each thread with a pair of long steer tailor scissors until there was one thread they couldn't cut. They all looked similar and I could guess from their features that they were triplets. One of the women taller than the others looked towards me. She was old but looked young as if she was born old. Unlike the other two women who had grey eyes, she had amber ones which glowed eerily in the darkness.

"Her time has not come yet." she pointed at me, her finger weathered out and wrinkled as though she had been snipping and working for eternity. The blackness started to engulf me, I wanted to scream but I couldn't. My voice did not come out and slowly as if it were dulling my senses, I lost consciousness.

I'm new here and this is my first time entering a contest. I don't know if my writing's good or not but thanks a lot for reading. The prologue's small but the chapters are definitly gonna be bigger.Plus I don't have any original art cover or content to use so I am just going with this one. :)
