3 A ’working’ gun

After running for a while he finally managed to shake off his chicken pursuers. He got into a well-covered cave, ate one of his apples and fell asleep immediately after.

Waking up the next morning Huo Ling felt refreshed. He mentally noted down everything he knew about these chickens. They were rather slow ordinary beasts. However, they were resisting to fire and spew fire themselves.

'How am I supposed to beat these damn chickens?' Suddenly he heard a notification ring which was similar to one of his previous played games. "Ding... You have acquired a gift box: 'A Godslayer's weapon' to open it, simply go to your storage room!" Huo Ling was dazed. He remembered the notification which had happened earlier but couldn't remember its contents.

After mentally giving the menu commands, Huo Ling was before a counter. It looked exactly like one of a guildhall. Huo Ling pressed the bell and a vague figure showed up. The person was completely made of grey and white tones and nothing could be made out clearly. Huo Ling couldn't even see if it was human, though it seemed to have wings so a human was unlikely. "Yes?" a deep voice sounded. The sound didn't seem to come from the person before him, rather it felt like it came from every direction.

Huo Ling was still bewildered from all this. He finally built up courage and asked: "Can I ask where the storage room is?" The person before him grinned. "Wherever you want it to be." For a few seconds Huo Ling just stood dumbfounded. What was that supposed to mean?! The person before him grinned again and said: "Just imagine a storage room..." He then disappeared.

Huo Ling knew to question his circumstances wasn't going to help, so he did what the person said and tried to imagine a storage room.

Not even a second later he stood in a storage unit from a bank. He walked towards the gift. It was purple with a yellow ribbon. He stood there for a few seconds and decided to open it. He pulled the ribbon and the box disappeared altogether. The thing what was left behind was a golden ball the size of his palm. Upon closer inspection, the ball was a little bit see-through and he could see a thick dark golden line floating within.

"Ding... Requirements met... You have obtained the blueprint 'Mana Gun' would you like to create the mana gun using 0/0 slaughter points?"

[Yes] - [No]

Obviously, Huo Ling accepted. [Yes], [Confirm]. "Ding... Congratulations on your new weapon 'Mana Gun' view stats?" Again Huo accepted.

'Mana Gun'

Gun which shoots pure mana. Each shot costs at least 0.5 Mana. If you Mana Shot hits a spell, it will dissolve their foundations. Damage: 0.

Huo Ling had to consider the uses of such a weapon, as the damage was zero. But after thinking about it more this gun would at the very least be helpful. If he went one-on-one with one of those chickens he could cancel their fireballs easily! Too bad humans started with only one mana though.

Even so, Huo Ling couldn't help but joke. This was most likely the first gun in history to work in God's Domain, yet it was still unable to hurt a thing.

Humans had two beginner stats. Fitness would be 101 and Mana would be 1. In order to improve one would have to kill a beast, then absorb the mana within their blood with a bloodstone. These bloodstones were mined near one of the towns. The government had set up a town here to protect this mine, as it would make improving amazingly faster. When anyone entered they would receive one of these bloodstones. These bloodstones would have numbers on them. If a bloodstone was just mined, it would have one number, a zero.

However, the first time Knight ranked points were absorbed, it would get a second number. These numbers would go up according to the number of points stored in them. You could force the points out of the bloodstone, giving really thick drops of blood. This was a really easy way to establish a currency.

From Fitness and Mana, two classes originated. Warriors and Magicians. Warriors would improve their fitness to fight melee or with a bow. Magicians would upgrade mana and element essence. Warriors had it easy compared to mages. Warriors could slay a creature and get more powerful after. Mages, however, could most likely not slay a creature and if they had slain one and poured it into mana or element essence, it would still be useless!

There were several other reasons humans chose warrior more often as well. In God's Domain, humans would start with 101 fitness. That meant they were a Rank 1 Level 1 Warrior. Humans also started with 1 mana. That meant they were. Rank 0 Level 0 Magician. In the First Layer of God's Domain, there were limited improvements.

There were four - now five - ranks of beasts. The points a beast was calculated like this: quantity of points * beast rank multiplier * layer multiplier. The layer multiplier for the First Layer was 1. Furthermore, the number of points and beast rank multipliers was like this:

Rank - Beast rank multiplier - the number of points upon kill

Ordinary = 1/25th = 0-20

Knight = 1/5th = 0-10

Noble = 1 = 0-10

King = 5 = 0-5

Myth = 25 =?-?

Every rank one could get 100 points maximum. This meant that one could get 624 total, not counting Myth ranked beasts. Coming back on mages. A mage had to put points in element essence. Element essence was a third option when absorbing mana from a bloodstone. Basic element control already needed 200 points and this was for only one element!

Mages then became known as options only for children of rich people or a really, really close group of friends. Only people who could help the mage kill monsters or buy bloodstones which contained monster blood would be able to become mages. Even so, it was extremely hard for people to become useful while being mages. With 425 points in Mana even after Evolution, one would only a pitiful rank 1 level 2 Magician. On the other hand, Warriors would already be Rank 1 level 5 upon evolution.

Even worse was the fact magicians had to absorb the element essence from a beast which was also that element. That meant one had to gather a minimum of 16 King rank points. To gather that many points you had to wait for them, because you, yourself were useless. Also, don't forget the fact you had to put all your Knight and Noble points into the same element for the rest of the 120 points. All in all, mages only shined in the later stages.

Huo Ling, however, decided to out all his Ordinary points into mana. By doing so he would increase his ammunition. After all, a less than 4% increase in fitness points would still not be as good as a 400% increase in Mana.

"Mages suck! But, I'll take it."

As Huo decided so, he started getting used to the system. He found a sign with 'Godslayer System' when he imagined the outside of the Guildhall. He also found a shop selling items and blueprints, a Smithy, an herb farm without any herbs and a farm which he could plant anything he wanted in.

In the shop, he could merely see a rough outline of the object and both the description and name were both completely blurred grey.

While doing all that, he learned to do things both in that world and in this world simultaneously. As he now had a useful weapon. it was time think of a plan.
