Chapter 02 : Thrown Back In Time

As one could hardly imagine, the hero was conscious. But how, when, and where are questions without promising answers. Yet astonishingly, she awakes.

"…what...where? I'm alive?... But, it's so dark. Did I win? What happened to the battle? Anyone?"

*unclear voices*

Subjected to wonder, she tries to open her eyes. As she does, she is overcome with a bright light.

"Gah! So bright, where is that even coming from? Woahh..."

"Huh…?"

When she opened her eyes, she saw two humongous figures looking down on her. She freaked out of course when one of them tried to reach out to her.

"UWAAAAH! Giants?! How are there even Giants today?!"

Is what she had wanted to express, yet what came out was the cute wail of a newborn.

'What!? My hands, why are my hands so... fat...wait no, that's not the point. My foot, my body...its small. My hair is also even shorter than before. What...what on earth is happening? What did that Devil do to me!?'

After sometime, she had finally realized her situation. The two "Giants", as she had referred to them, seemed awfully familiar. Too familiar for comfort.

{Gabrielle Xylmuitte – 2 weeks old}

'...how is this possible *sniff*. I saw you die, I saw both of you die that day. *sniff sniff* gwuuu... mother, father, I missed you both so much. *bawls*'

From her parents view, their two-week-old, adorable child was crying.

"Oh dear, here she goes once more. *sigh* Come now, princess~. *caries baby Gab* Won't you stop crying for this poor father of yours, hm?"

Says her mother, Mrs. Eleanor Cadluv Xylmuitte, as she picks Gabrielle from her crib. Her father, Mr. George Kloin Xylmuitte, was quite a mess. He had been pacing around the room, panicked by each action Gab(Gabrielle) did.

"I wonder why she cries, is there something wrong? I should call for the town doctor. Maids! Summon Dr. Martin this instant. Also, do hurry with my child's milk... Lea (Mrs. Xylmuitte), what do you think, is there anymore that she needs dear?

Eleanor giggled to her husband's utterly clueless condition.

"George~, would you please ease yourself. The child is alright, trust me."

She said while gesturing for George to sit by her side. Gabrielle was their second child, the second daughter to the house of Xylmuitte. Currently she has one other sibling, Diana, her older sister.

"Oh darling, just look at her beautiful, pristine eyes and that silky ashen hair. She would one day grow to be a beautiful maiden. And I hope that she too would meet a man like her father, this I'll pray for."

"Truly she shows beauty, one that is from her charming mother. Is it not?"

The couple continued to tease one another, when the door slowly opens and a small girl peeks through. It was Diana, the eldest. She poked her head around the little space the door allowed her through. Diana was a renowned genius, praised by all the tutors that had come by to teach in their mansion. Though intellectually gifted, she was lacking in all sorts of social ability. She has hardly left her room all her life and spends most of her time reading her favoured books.

"What is it Dear? Come in, take a look at your sister. She's just as adorable as you were as a baby. Come see."

Called Eleanor to Diana, who was at the door.

"M-May I?"

"Of course. Now come on in, love."

She then ran to her mother's side, quickly getting ahold of her arm. She had this look where you can tell, she's interested on the baby.

"This is your little sister, Gabrielle. Won't you say hi?"

"…H-hi, Gabrielle."

She said with such gleam in her eyes. Gabrielle was overjoyed to see her eldest sister. She was her closest and only friend back then. In her past life, Gabrielle was forbidden to be in contact with outside factors. Diana, who was in the same boat as Gabrielle, kept her company. The youngest wasn't always present at the house, so they were unable to talk much.

He was supposedly sent to an elite school built by the church for the purpose of finding the prophesied hero. Though it was awfully suspicious for when Gabrielle received the blessing instead as a hero, there were attempted assassinations targeting her, believed to be connected to the friars. Gabrielle was determined to change her family's terrible fate, now that she had been allowed another shot.

'I still can't believe I went back to the past. I never knew Astaroth had that kind of power...but why use it on me? Why send me back? There was also that thing about a slave, seventy-seven was it? I'll look for him after I settle things with the family.'

Getting a second chance on life could possibly be the most exhilarating event to happen to anyone, wouldn't you agree? Gabrielle knew this herself, and she isn't going to let this opportunity pass her by. Little does she know of the things that await her, and the things that she had missed in her past life. This story entails the decisions our heroine makes, the consequences she takes, and the truth behind Astaroth's revolt to the Gods. A story about trust and truth with a touch of magic.

Enjoy~!!
