45 Evil pieces

Another thing that happened during this time period was me deciding to ask my father about my evil pieces.

I was supposed to receive them this year, and I knew Ajuka came to talk about that specific subject at some point during my birthday party.

I wanted them, not to reincarnate some people, but as a research material. It was part of my super duper grand plan. And honestly, I just didn't like the fact I was supposed to receive them years ago but had yet to have a planned date for the evil pieces ceremony.

When confronted directly about it, my father mentioned that seeing my attitude toward Diodora during the party he decided to further push away. His excuse was that I was not mature enough to wear the burden of a peerage.

At this point I realise that something was completely off. I mean... really ? Not mature enough ? Who was he kidding ? He authorised RIAS to have devil pieces. And since his head wasn't working anymore, I decided to go to mother. While I know she wouldn't go against him, I knew she would also tell me the truth.

Turns out it was just pettiness. He learned about the way I completely lead the party once they were all gone and was jealous of how I easily curried some favours. The fact I was doing all of this without his help at all was grating his ego.

Since he decided to be a jerk I decided to be one too.

You need to understand that a lord can't prevent a high class devil from obtaining his evil pieces. If that was the case, politic would block way too many people from obtaining them, which was completely against the goal of spreading them to obtain more devil for the underworld. As such, when a lord would tell his heir or house member that he wasn't ready or he was punished, it was more of him asking to delay the ceremony. Even if the tone was not there.

And since I had Ajuka number, I decided to just screw his opinion. And after all, he couldn't really do anything to me anymore, like I said in the past, the only power he had over me was my engagement contract, and that was dealt with.

The only reason I stayed with them was because they were my biological family, and this was my house. And despite the fact they had a poor attitude toward me, mother never acted against me, and Rias was just a kid. Oh don't get me wrong, they were also guilty of letting the situation degenerate this much. But you don't abandon your birth family because of that. They weren't bullying me, just neglecting me (not much better, but still). And I can't say I was living in bad conditions, I had food, shelter, money, education...

My feeling for them were just subdued. This is why I never though of just abandoning them.

But that was no reason to get trampled on.

With this in mind, I called Ajuka :

Alexander : "Well met lord Beelzebub, this is Alexander Gremory."

Ajuka : "Oh, hi kiddo, a specific reason for calling me ?"

Alexander : "Two actually. The first one is regarding a project I am working on with the Agares heir. I was wondering if you were interested in cooperating with us to create a fully functional mecha working only with a generator, no magic. Of course we are not starting from nothing and have already several schematics and working concepts.

Ajuka : "The mecha junkie uh... Well that might be a bit complicated right now. I'm working on a personal project to track someone."

Alexander : "No problem. I was not expecting much to be honest since it's pretty well know that you are always busy, but I talked about it with Seekvaira and we though to mention it to you if we had the occasion. The offer will be kept open for you of course."

Ajuka : "Appreciated, and once I finished a few task I might come and look at your work. A working mecha does sound interesting."

Alexander : "My second topic was about my evil pieces. I would like to know if you could arrange the ceremony at a date of your choosing if you please. I decided I postponed it enough."

Ajuka : "Your father told it would be postponed once again, did I get it wrong ?"

Alexander : "No you didn't, my father indeed decided this. But according to the law, his opinion is irrelevant, and I am telling you right now that I am ready to receive my pieces."

Ajuka : "Kekeke, alright kiddo, that's your right. Are you OK for tomorrow ? To be honest I've had the pieces ready for a few years already."

Alexander : "Of course lord Beelzebub, when do you expect me ?"

Ajuka : "See you on the floating island at 3pm then."

Alexander : "Very well my lord. Have a good day."

The next day, I didn't even need to find an excuse to get out since I had been doing so a lot in the past days in order to fulfil my painting orders.

Thus, at 3pm, I was at the floating island with Celina where Ajuka was waiting for me.

Ajuka : "Hello Alexander, let's get this done then. Please put your palm on the giant glowing rock to register you as a king."

The ceremony was pretty bland. Put my blooded hand on the rock, it glowed a bit, and I was given a case with 15 pieces. that's it.

Alexander : "Well... Thank you for your time lord Beelzebub."

Ajuka : "Likewise."

And just like that, I had a case with 15 items that could resurrect a human and transform him into a devil. So much study potential ! Of course, I was not going to research it for my personal enjoyment, no. It was for SCIENCE !

And thus started my new adventure in the world of genetic changes, and the pursue of soul and life magic.
