6 A Change For The Better

The region was brimming with electrical lights and blinking signboards, giving it a night-market like feeling.

There were even some owners who stood outside their stores, loudly shouting and promoting their products.

The region was currently bustling with people, vibrant and lively.

After all, it was the school holidays, and some students took the time off to come visit the scene, adding on to the already numerous crowd.

This time, Si Chen was not as coldly disregarded as before in the clothing store.

His attire and slightly attractive appearance stood out from the crowd, and many owners hustled and jostled to get his attention.

Regarding this, Si Chen could only silently sigh in his heart, that the society was really based on appearances.

You dress poor, you get contempt and derision.

You dress rich, you get passion and enthusiasm.

Si Chen was not here to buy an extremely high end computer. With only 4500 dollars left, he couldn't really afford those luxury computers, which could easily cost up to a few tens of thousands dollars, or even hundreds of thousands.

Sounds ridiculous, but there were such computers.

He entered a random store after strolling the place for a while.

Like any other store, bright sparkling lights were hung outside, and when he went in, the store was filled with various electronic gadgets.

The owner's eyes brightened when he saw Si Chen's attire. A classic black western suit. He was definitely not normal.

He walked out of the counter towards Si Chen as he courteously asked, "What do you want to buy?"

"I want to buy a computer." Si Chen directly said, looking towards the boss.

"You're in luck! My store had quite the computers, and I've just received a new batch yesterday." He enthusiastically pointed towards a few new and stylish computers,

"This is the Lenovo V1, which costs around 2400 dollars, while this is the Apple Matte 5, its cost at 3500, slightly more expensive than the Lenovo V1, but still worth every cent." The boss introduced two computers to him, both black in colour, with one in matte black, while the other in normal black.

He narrowed his eyes as he scrutinized the configurations. Honestly, he didn't know much about computers, so this act of his was just plain dumb.

He felt it looked rather cool though.

In the end, he decided to go with the Apple Matte 5. First, because it was more expensive, and he thought that more expensive equals to better performance. Second, because it looked better.

Matte black just seemed more appeasing to his eyes.

"I'll take the Apple Matte 5" Si Chen lifted his finger and pointed to the Apple computer and said to the boss.

The boss immediately revealed a bright smile upon his words, as he suppressed the agitation in his heart, and hurriedly packed up the computer in a box, as if afraid that Si Chen's decision would change if he took too long.

"3500 dollars please." The boss gave a smile to Si Chen, as he waved out his empty palm.

Si Chen casually took out his credit card and hand it to the boss, who tapped the card on the paying machine.

After completing the transaction. Si Chen took back his card and carried the computer out of the store, while the boss still maintained his smile as he politely waved goodbye to him.

Si Chen smiled on his way back home. As least his trip out this time did not meet with any unnecessary trouble.

Maybe an occasional subtle face-slapping, but other than that, all was fine.

At least there were no idiots who went out of their way to offend him.

Even if they did try to provoke him, honestly, he wouldn't be able to do anything but live in constant fear.

He had not rose up in power and authority

He was like a featherless chicken, vulnerable and weak.

Luckily, all was quiet and peaceful.

While he was indulging in the comfort of his tranquillity, suddenly, out of nowhere, he felt a tap on his shoulders.

Damn it! Don't tell me I'm really that unlucky today.

He hurriedly flinched back and quickly stumbled away.

Under the darkness, with only a slight shine of the moonlight, the surroundings was enveloped with a soft, misty grey light, giving it a few traces of mysteriousness, and a slight unknown factor.

A figure slowly appeared within his eyes.

Illuminated by the moonlight, Si Chen saw a… short looking elderly woman staring at him, while behind her back was a trolley filled with tissues.

"Boy, do you want to buy some tissue paper?" Her voice croaked out.

Damn! What a frightful scare.

What in the absolute name of shit.

Who sells tissue paper in the middle of the night, when everyone is sleeping and no one is around?

Auntie, do you know that if you do this too often, someone will bound to pass out in shock.

I'm young, but my heart is not very strong.

In the end, he wordlessly paid 3 dollars to buy 10 tissue packs to chase her away, before he hastily ran back home.

When he opened the door, he saw that the light in the house was turned on, and Xiao Meng was quietly sitting down on a chair, with a book in her hands.

"Xiao Meng, I'm back! Look what I brought!" Si Chen cheerfully shook the computer in front of him.

Xiao Meng wrinkled her eyebrows doubtfully, as she softly asked, "Where did you steal that from?"

Black lines instantly ran down Si Chen's forehead.

"Didn't I tell you that I earned money today? Also, look at your big brother right now. Look at my clothes. Don't I look especially handsome?" Si Chen went towards Xiao Meng and questioned. He exaggeratedly made a pose, as it to show off his looks.

Xiao Meng swept a few glances at Si Chen, before she pursed her lips and grudgingly replied, "Acceptable."

Si Chen didn't mind her attitude. After all, she was occasionally like that. Even though she was his younger sister, sometimes, she acted like his older one.

"What's the problem?" Si Chen turned to ask.

"Why did you buy such expensive things for? Do you know how precious money is?" Xiao Meng instantly said in a lecturing tone.

"Xiao Meng, don't worry about the money. This isn't too much for him right now. And also, next time when I earn more money, I will definitely buy an even better computer and even prettier clothes for you." Si Chen patted his chest and said in a determined tone.

Xiao Meng gave a light smile in return.

Honestly, she didn't care about how much things he had bought for her, or how expensive they are.

She only wanted them both to live a comfortable and happy life together.

And seeing the confident look in Si Chen's eyes, she was naturally delighted, because now, her Big Bother no longer had that hint of gloomy and dispirited look in his eyes that he had always kept hidden from her, but her astute eyes had clearly caught.

His eyes were now burning with passion and hope for the future.
