10 Escape

"Boy, now hurry up. We need to completely rob this entire place before leaving."

"Tch! Old man, don't make it sound like we are stealing. We are just giving them what they deserve for their hundreds of years of services."

There were several ways to command the system, but the easiest way was using hand and voice control.

Scrolling and selecting could also be done with thoughts, but in battles, it would be impossible to command the system with thoughts all the time. In those cases, a voice command could be an important asset.

As Lucifer started collecting the items one after another, Michael and Luna started looking for ways to escape.

The old man gave luna the mana potion. After drinking a few of those and a few more health potions, she was able to recover completely.

"Golden necklaces acquired!"

"Golden cups acquired!"

"Ruby ring acquired!"

"Staff of the imperial king acquired!"

As he started putting the items in his arsenal, he started hearing more and more notifications like that. After the first minute, that artificial female voice started sounding so annoying that he disabled the notification and continued.

In around 10 minutes, he was able to store the whole treasure, wine, and document vaults in his storage.

After he finished storing, the three walked out of the vaults together.

By what Luna said, the only way out of this place was the one from where they came in, so they had no choice but to confront the guard.

In head-on battle, there was no way they would be able to win. However, they learned that Luna could use magic to some extent.

In the passage, they encountered some soldiers who were carefully approaching. It was somewhat awkward that they would approach with this much caution when the ones they were against were two measly level ones. However, considering their unfamiliarity with the place, caution could be of utmost importance.

The soldiers in the front came charging with the aim to kill as soon as they noticed them. At this point, it was apparent that the time for negotiations was over.

The two narrowly dodged the sword attack, but the soldiers quickly turned around. Now they were surrounded on both sides.

The way out of this was obvious. Lucifer took out some gold coins from his storage and threw them towards the ceiling. And while the soldiers were distracted for a few seconds because of that, Luna fired a ball of fire towards the ceiling.

Between the confusion and smoke, the three managed to slip past the soldiers. However, two more soldiers were waiting at the stairs.

"Tch! No choice."

Lucifer took several wine bottles out of his storage —the cheap recent ones— and threw them at the soldiers, while Luna lit a spark near them and created fire.

Before getting out of the secret room, Lucifer threw a few gold coins outside as a diversion, and while the soldiers were being distracted, the three got out.

Even after working for months, the soldiers would only be able to earn a few coins. The only attractive thing about their job was the services they would get. But after seeing so many gold coins at once, it was only natural that the greed would take over.

Luna used her magic to break the window, and the three jumped out to the roof from there.

Mages were comparatively rare in the military, but there were plenty in this venue. However, considering the potential damage they could cause, and how bad they were at close quarter combat, it was rare to see them in the frontlines.

Although no one could deny how valuable they were when it came to long-distance battles and frontline support.

On the slopy roof, they became the perfect target for the mages. As soon as they came into sight, the mages started shooting magic attacks towards them from both sides.

Luna drank the magic potion and started countering the attacks that were about to hit. All three of them started running towards the end, so most attacks naturally missed the mark.

Right before they reached the end, Lucifer noticed the balcony under them. However, to get there, he would need to create a diversion.

Luna was too busy dealing with the mages, so he looked around to see if there were any other ways.

"Old man! Don't you have anything? She won't be able to hold much longer."

"Tch! Luna, burn down the storehouse in the left! Lucifer, throw the wine bottles at the storehouse to intensify her flames."

Both did as the old man said.

As the storehouse started burning and the fire started spreading because of the alcohol, the mages had no choice but to focus on putting off the fire. While they were doing that, Lucifer jumped to the balcony and helped the old man and luna get down.

There were no soldiers or guards in the area as they were all gathered in a different region. This all was so unexpected that many were still confused regarding what was going on.

Their coordination and transfer of information were almost non-existent as all this was happening way too fast.

Lucifer then climbed the window on the other side, which was around 2 meters away from the fence wall.

There was a tree on the other side of the wall, whose branch he could easily grab by jumping. This was a walk in the park for someone who had spent his entire childhood jumping between trees.

There were long curtains in the window and around two meters pole above it. The old man grabbed the pole and gave Lucifer to hold while the old man tied the other end of the curtain at the window.

Lucifer used the support from the branches to hold the pole stably, while the other two were able to reach the tree through the curtain one at a time.

There were a few guards stationed outside, but the three jumped off the tree and entered one of the houses near the church before they could notice.
