3 Game Workshop

In the system menu, there were only four features shown.

Before Weiss could tap any of them, Alice started her explanation.

[The Workplace feature can be used to start developing games. However, only single-type games can be chosen at the start and only a few game genres are available. As long as your developer rating increases, you will be able to create more types and genres of games.]

[The Status feature shows your status such as your developer rating, the games you have created, your power level, skills owned, Dev points, etc.]

[The Inventory feature is useful in regards to storing the game items that the host had purchased from the Game Item Shop feature. Moreover, it's also possible to store items inside the Inventory feature other than game items.]

[The Game Item Shop features in-game items that are available in the games that have been developed by you. As long as you have enough Dev points, you can spend Dev points to redeem the game items in the Game Item Shop. In other words, with enough Dev points, you can bring in-game items into reality!]

After hearing those explanations regarding the system features from Alice, Weiss tapped on the Workplace feature.

[Workplace]

[Current Game Project: None]

[Remaining Game Slots: 1]

[Game Developing Tool]

After pressing the Workplace feature, Weiss noticed the Game Developing Tool under it so he tapped it.

[Select the Game Type/s: {Single-Purpose}]

A system screen popped up in front of Weiss and after reading it, he discovered that there weren't any options other than {Single-Purpose} so he pressed it.

[Select the Game Genre/s: {Survival}, {Zombie Survival}]

Having only two options for the Game Genre, Weiss decided to choose {Zombie Survival} since he felt that it should have more valuable game items that he could redeem than the survival genre.

Since the invasion was near, Weiss knew the importance of choosing to develop games with powerful, useful, or versatile game items. They were crucial in defeating the invaders two months from now.

-Ding!

[The Game Type and Game Genre chosen is: Single-Purpose Zombie Survival!]

[To further create the Game World and the Game Rules, your mind will be sent to the Game Workshop.]

[The Game Workshop is a realm where you, the Game Developer, shape and create the Game World with god-level authority. You can decide how many trees are there in the game world, the number of entities, the rules and physics of the game, the game items, etc.]

[In layman's terms, the Game Workshop is a Game Development Software. However, in this case, you only need creativity and imagination to develop a game, and any programming and computer language skills aren't that highly needed.]

[Do you want to enter the Game Workshop?]

Hearing the explanation and question from Alice, Weiss replied, "Yes."

After answering Alice's question, Weiss felt as if his mind was blanking out as he lost consciousness.

Opening his eyes, Weiss found himself in a realm filled with nothing but darkness.

Before he could wander around the dark realm, a system screen appeared in front of him accompanied by Alice's sweet angelic voice.

[Weiss, you are currently inside the Game Workshop.]

[With your thoughts alone, you can start creating the assets of the Game World. However, the resources you have are only limited to the Zombie Survival game genre.]

[Since it's a single-purpose type of game, the players will only be limited to completing the game's main objective and cannot escape the game's main objective. Your game development will be based on that.]

[An example of that is a Zombie Survival game having the main objective of surviving 10 or so zombie waves. The minor objective will be to kill as many zombies as possible. So, aside from those major and minor objectives, the players can't explore beyond the zone restricted by you.]

[A single-purpose game type will have a limited number of players per server and only by reaching a certain amount of players will the game start. Completing the main objective will end the game and reset the game back to the beginning after the players receive their prizes for completing the main and minor objectives.]

[Other than having player information stored in a game database separate from the game servers, the players in a single-purpose game type will not be able to retain their previous game accounts regardless if they win the previous game or not. Every time they join a game, a new account with the same player information will be created.]

[That is to prevent any exploitations such as the player retaining their game items or equipment from the previous game and using it to their advantage in the current game. After all, if this isn't implemented, a player who completed the main objective of surviving the 30th zombie wave and joined a new game session will have the items and equipment of the 30th zombie wave despite being in the 1st zombie wave. This defeats the purpose of a single-purpose game type.]

[Furthermore, as long as you make the game challenging enough, I can allow you to include rewards such as game items being brought back to reality by the players who finished the game's objective. Of course, if you make it too easy, then you can only get Dev points at most and can't allow in-game items to be brought back to reality by the players.]

Hearing Alice's explanation, Weiss' eyes lit up in excitement, "That is to say, I can act like a god in this Game Workshop. Creating games in the Game Workshop is similar to a god's perspective when creating worlds."

"Furthermore, I need to make the game challenging enough so that I can include in-game items that could be brought back to reality as rewards for the players who completed the game."

"Although hoarding the in-game items will allow me to become invincible in this world, it's detrimental to the development of this world especially when the world will rely on my game worlds if they want to resist the incoming otherworld invasion."

"The in-game items can be used for the carrot and stick approach. With the temptation of having in-game items brought back to reality, those players would keep on playing my games. They will be reduced as my tool men!"
