96 Chapter 96. Leo VS Nazar

Sloop!

Suddenly, each frozen wyvern's body seemed to be dislodged as the top half of their bodies slumped and fell to the misty layered ground.

Shock appeared on Nazar's face as stared at the bodies of the beasts that were cleanly cleaved in half horizontally. What had just happened? How was Leo able to kill each Wyverns in one slash?

"What was that slash?" Nazar confusedly spoke out as that art seemed to attract him.

"Silent Slash, an art that I got from destroying a sect," Leo calmly replied as he smiled, "Now, are you going to fight me now?"

Hearing Leo, Nazar chuckled slightly and he shook his head in disappointment as he walked took a few steps towards Leo as he brought out a large shiny halberd. It's body wrapped with a strong grippy red leather and it's blade was a fusion of a war hammer, an axe, and a spear that was made of shiny silver steel. Judging from the small jerk that it cause when it fell in Nazar's hand. Leo could immediately tell that it weighed at least fifty kilograms.

"Now that's an interesting weapon..." Leo commented as he looked at the halberd with extremely observant eyes. The fact that the weapon had an axe, hammer and spear end meant that close combat would not be the best way to fight him.

"Haha! I didn't want to have to fight and I was saving this for the king when we get there but it seems like I am going to have to use it here now. I'm really curious about your background now," Nazar replied as he stopped after reaching within seven meters of Leo.

"Well... Since your about to die, I can let you know on my background," Leo spoke after a short pause, "I'm Leon Areia, son of two villagers from Meno. I don't have any background or backing but my brother has been taken to the Jade empire and my girlfriend is on her way to the Iudex sect."

Immediately surprise appeared on Nazar's face. He did not know what the Jade empire was but he knew what the Iudex sect was. The King's eldest son, who happened to be eighteen years of age, was a member of the Iudex sect. This meant that killing this boy might lead to further problems.

"I presume you got the scepter from the Iudex sect," Leo suddenly spoke as he dropped his sword that was broken from the previous attack.

"How did you figure?" Nazar asked shocked to his core. Could Leo read his thoughts?

"I read a lot of books. Only the Iudex sect could take hold of such a weapon, especially after it's mysterious disappearance. Someone in the Ruby royal family must be a sect member there. Interesting..." Leo explained nonchalantly as he stroked his chin.

"Let me ask you a question. I'm sure that you would've been able to join such a sect. Why are you not a member of a sect?"

Hearing this, a surprised look appeared on Leo's face before turning into a smile as he answered, "I don't want to be shackled by responsibilities of a sect. I have stuff to do first before I can consider joining a sect."

"You are an interesting child," Nazar commented with a large smile as he took a stance, preparing to dash towards Leo.

"Now, let me ask you a question. Is there no way to let you give up this fight? I don't want to end a life if I can avoid it," Leo asked with a slightly burdened expression as he also responded and placed his foot a step forward. His left arm half-stretched forward with his palm facing towards him and his right arm placed on the right side of his chest with the fist tightly clenched as he stared at Nazar with his heavenly eyes.

"I'll give up if you let me pass. But I know that that's not going to happen. Watch out!" Nazar immediately dashed forward with his energy exploding out of him as he jumped as he pulled his weapon back and immediately slammed the flat hammer end of his halberd on the floor.

Boom!

Seeing this attack, Leo immediately dashed to the side, narrowly dodging the hammer as it struck the ground.

The ground seemed to have been his by a hammer as the ground cracked into multiple circles and began to shake vigorously.

However, something strange began to happen as the air around them even began to rumble. The energy in the air slowly grew intense as a large gust of wind swept downwards from above, causing Leo to raise his head and he saw that a small orange dot had appeared in the foggy fog and countless other appeared as they slowly grew large after each passing nanosecond.

Ruby Rain!

Crash!

A large rock the size of Leo had suddenly fallen from the sky next to Leo who had just barely managed to dodge it by a hair's width. And the countless other orange dot quickly fell, causing Leo to constantly move from his position as they rocks fell. Normally, he would be able to dodge them easily but the fog was extremely thick so Leo could only clearly see the meteors once they were five meters above him.

Boom! Boom!

"Tch!" Leo flinched as he dodged countless large human-size rocks using Shadow Eight Steps. And before he could get used to dodging, Nazar's spear end had just suddenly appeared behind Leo, about to stab into Leo's back.

'He's fast,' Leo thought as he was shocked. There were not many Earth affinity cultivators who were as fast as him so Leo was caught off guard and was forced dodge the attack with the cost of having his waist slashed deeply by the spear.

Retreating a few steps back, Leo held his wound in surprise. That outburst of speed... No wonder Nazar was able to be a commander for the Ruby army.

"Stay there!" Nazar laughed.

But before Leo could rest, another rock was sent flying towards him, causing him to move again.

"This is annoying..." Leo spoke as he stared at Nazar and began to charge towards him, not bothering about defense anymore.

"Perfect," Nazar revealed a cold smile as he took a strange battle stance. Suddenly, a massive amount of energy began to concentrate around him as his battle axe glowed to a bright red.

"My most famous art: Trilogy of Blood!" Nazar exclaimed heartily as he suddenly smashed his hammer on the ground at an angle, causing countless rocks to be uprooted from the ground. And then Nazar began to use his hammer as a bat and began smashing a dozen large boulder-sized rocks towards Leo, forcing him to push the rock to smithereens.

But he used the rocks to his advantage as he rushed behind the rock that Leo was preoccupied with and lunged out with his spear as a sharp concentrated beam extended out from his spear.

'He was using them as decoys!' Leo thought shocked as he did not expect this. Not good, he was not able to dodge this attack.

Spurt!

The spear cleanly landed on Leo's chest penetrating about halfway though and the beam completed the rest as it reemerged out Leo's back, resulting in countless outbursts of blood to almost seem like they exploded from Leo's body.

A cold smile appeared on Nazar's face as he then spun the halberd around and then flung Leo's body which was hanging on the spear tip to be send flying into the air.

"Ackh!" Leo immediately coughed up a mouthful of blood as his eyes grew emotionless. The spear had struck him right in the center of his chest.

Nazar then jumped up about five meters into the air, right in front of Leo's body that was still flying up, stopping his ascend.

"United for the motherland. Rest well," Nazar coldly spoke with a tone of pity as the glow on his halberd increased to a peak and he swung the axe end of the halberd straight downward onto Leo,

Immediately, a boom sounded as Leo's body was send plummeting towards the ground once again, this time with a fearsome velocity as he fell to the earth, creating a fifty meter crater along with a mild earthquake.

As dust filled the battleground, Nazar descended onto the ground with his halberd having lost its glow as he hung it on his back.

"You fought well. If I was you, I would not have enough energy left to fight," Nazar spoke as he walked to the edge of the crater and peered down. The dust had stopped him from being able to see if Leo had died but he was extremely confident that Leo was dead. He had felt his axe and spear clearly stab into Leo's body and he himself knew that he would not survive his own attack if he was on the receiving end.

"I'll leave you with a few final words. My devotion to the Ruby kingdom is resolute. You must be confused why there were no more beasts during the fight," Nazar spoke as he stood there, waiting for a few seconds to see if he would get a response.

"That's cause I had my soldiers infused their energies to the scepter and currently they have unsealed every beast from the scepter. We will use this and take over the Lapis Kingdom," Nazar continued after his brief pause.

But as the smoke began to clear, a standing silhouette appeared in Nazar's field of view at the middle of the crater with it's demonic eyes looking at him as if it want to steal his soul.

Cough! Cough!

Leo coughed up multiple mouthfuls of blood but he quickly regained himself. The smoke had now completely cleared, revealing Leo who did not seem to be in the best of shape. It looked like he managed to block the halberd axe by using his hands to protect himself as his hands were deeply bleeding to the point where his ulnas were visible.

Along with the cut there, there was also a horrific stab wound on his chest that was currently covered and pouring out with blood. Throughout this attack, the pain that Leo had felt was nothing compared to what he felt during his tribulation so he was able to deal with it.

"Then I can't play around any longer. Let's finish this," Leo's voice sounded as his body suddenly began to be covered with a dark black energy that was pulsating with red.

Immediately, a fearful and uneased expression appeared on Nazar's face as the energy that Leo had suddenly released had scared him immensely. How was he still ok? Is he still human? How does he still have this much energy?

"My turn to attack," Leo spoke as the black energy covering him suddenly all began to move and they all collected into Leo's left arm, coating it fully as red sparks slowly appeared around the arm.

Nazar's shock was further intensified. Because, not only was the black energy fearsome but all of Leo's critical injuries were all suddenly healed. The stab and slash wounds had all suddenly stopped and were covered with a slightly darker complexion of his skin.

But being a commander, Nazar forced himself to calm down and think straight.

'Judging from the energy, this must be his last all out attack. I also have to reply.'

Immediately, Nazar's halberd began to glow red as the sharp ends of the axe began to glow with a deep red as the energy in the ground began to grow chaotic.

"It was a good fight," Leo quickly commented as a black dark energy began to coat his feet.

Boom! Boom!

Both men dashed forward, leaving cracks along the ground. But just when they got into five meters of each other Leo suddenly seemed to vanish as his body was not longer able to be seen as it seemed like he had just blended into the air.

Nazar immediately stopped in his tracked as he dragged about a meter of dirt along with his feet as he halted. Feeling incredibly outmatched, he looked around, his eyes flickering everywhere as he looked around for where Leo could possibly be.

Where had he gone? Where has he disappeared to?

"From dust you came, to dust you will return"
