77 Chapter 77. Party invitation

A large towering dark oak tree stood firmly about three kilometers from the frontlines, on the upper sections of the tree were a squad of cultivators who sat there happily conversing as they looked into the sunset and had a clear view of the battlefield and the frontline which was really beneficial for Leo's Nether eyes.

The battle had ended for today with both sides decided to have a treaty that lasted for a three weeks for no apparent reason. But hey, what did Leo care? This just meant more rest time for him so he was fine with it.

"What's for dinner today, Vanessa?" Garrick asked happily as he laid his back on the branch while sharpening his axe, looking at Vanessa with extremely expectant eyes.

"Well, I'm thinking of a vegetable stew," Vanessa replied as she opened her eyes, coming back to reality for her meditative state.

"Your cooking is so good, I'm so glad that you joined us," Garrick commented as he looked up towards the sky as he was reminded of his wife's cooking.

'Just a few more months, Theodora,' he noiselessly whispered into the sky.

"Garrick! How did the attacks go today?" Leo asked excitedly as he jumped down from a higher branch.

"You don't even know, Leo. It's going so well thanks to you guys! I sincerely thank you, it's amazing, I didn't think that Wenella was so strong! Without her letting me get her kills then I probably wouldn't have even reached the top ten thousand rankings with my puny emission realm cultivation. If I didn't make it to refinement realm then I don't think that I would've been able to arrive at the top thousands. But recently, I think the opposition know about us now, they have been sending stronger people at us when we attack," Garrick replied unhappily as this had cuased his ranking points to slower down a bit.

"Haha! That was to be expected, I knew that this would happen sooner or later!" Leo laughed.

"So what are you guys planning to do when you guys are finished with the war?" Garrick asked curiously as since he had made it to the top thousands, he had already accomplished his goal and was now planning to strive for a more better placement.

"I have some revenge to enact on a sect so I will go there after I get strong enough," Vanessa immediately answered first with a beautiful smile. She then turned to Wenella, "what about you?"

Caught off guard, Wenella paused for a few seconds before answering, "I plant to get my disciple awake and healthy as soon as possible. After that we will just go exploring the world, searching for a sect."

"Woah! That sounds fun," Garrick commented as he began answered, "I plan to give my kids a better future. Now that I am in a good ranking, I can afford to buy then good stuff so that they can live happy."

"What about you, Leo?" Vanessa then turned to Leo. He was often the one who started things but he would never really say much about himself.

"Hmm. I don't know. I will most probably go outside of the empire and find a place where I can increase my strength quickly. I have a little brother and a girlfriend to take care of," Leo replied after a quick second of thinking.

"That's a very nice one," Vanessa commented as she slowly radiated a soft fuzzy water energy as she trained while sitting.

A sudden sound alerted Leo as he suddenly stood up and walked over to the edge of the branch as he looked downward before returning and sitting as he informed the group, "We have guests."

Step! A tall male jumped onto the branch that they were all on. He then turned to Leo and saw that he was wearing extremely simple clothes and he immediately walked over and asked,

"You, commoner! Is this the place of the 'Lord of farming', 'Azure Priestess', and the 'Widow Witch'?"

"Yes, you could say so," Leo replied as he looked up on the man who seemed to be around thirty years of age and he was wearing extremely flashy noble robes.

"Tch! A mere commoner speaks so blatantly, I have no time to waste," the man annoyedly spoke as he walked forward to the rest of them.

"Garrick! Wenella! Vanessa! You're wanted! Take care of our guest! I'll be stargazing again," Leo spoke as he turned around and jump up towards the top of the tree.

Not wasting any time, Garrick, Wenella, and Vanessa immediately got up as they walked over to the man and welcomed him, "Greetings, fellow cultivator. What business would you guys have with us to personally visit us in our humble abode?"

The man did not waste anytime and immediately informed them, "I am from the Darkness Party and our leader would like to meet with the two of you. He is the 'Chieftain of darkness', the number one ranker, and he's planning to host a party at night tomorrow to celebrate the stalemate that managed to achieve. Everyone who is on the top five thousands in the ranking are invited."

"I see, ok then, we will come," Garrick replied with a smile.

"Good to hear, I will take my leave now," the cultivator said as he jumped off down the tree.

After he left, the scene was very awkward as strong feelings of confusion filled their thoughts.

"That was a very weird invitation, Garrick, do you know who the chieftain of darkness is?" Wenella asked curiously.

"Nope, I have no idea who that is," Garrick replied as confused as Aurora.

"Chieftain of darkness… He is the person who holds the top number one position in the rankings. I wonder what he is up to," Vanessa cautiously spoke as a serious expression replaced her face, "The Ice Deity group is one of the sub divisions of the Darkness Party."

"No way! Why was I so hasty?" Garrick suddenly cried as he realized what he had subconsciously agreed to. How stupid of him. The thought of meeting the first ranker had seemed to excite him but eventually he cared more for his friends than a simple meeting.

"Haha! There's no problem, you guys should go. It will be a good chance for you guys to make friends," Leo's voice laughed out loud as he jumped down to them.

"What about you? Will you not be joining us?" Wenella cautiously asked.

"Well, it was you, Vanessa and Garrick that received the invitation and not me. Why should I go?" Leo replied nonchalantly as he sat down.

"Then I will not go," Wenella decided blatantly after hearing Leo.

"You will go Wenella, you need to keep Garrick safe. We came here for you to heal your disciple but this could be a good opportunity for you to make friends and develop connections, you should go. Don't worry, I'll watch from a distance. I won't intervene unless I have to," Leo explained.

"I think it will be best if you just stay here, I don't think it is wise to leave Laura here alone," Garrick suddenly spoke logically.

"Fine," Wenella helplessly spoke as she could not really refute Garrick.

"Yay! Ok now let's get cooking!" Vanessa happily spoke as she began taking out vegetables from Leo's storage backpack and began to throw them onto a pot that was hanging under a campfire on the tree.

Leo slowly glanced at the sky, 'I wonder you guys all are doing... Lex... Aurora...'
