67 Chapter 67. Iudex Lapis branch

In a particularly small town was a large inn that served countless travellers. But little did these people know that this humble inn acted as a branch for the Iudex Sect.

"Eupheme! What brings you here today?" an attendant asked curiously as she saw him walk into the inn and immediately approached him keenly.

"Hey again," Eupheme greeted back as he made his way to a seat, "I'm waiting for some people today."

"Oh!" the attendance replied with more interest as she took a seat next to him, "Who are these people that they are able to get you to come here personally?"

"Hehe. Judge Ophelia is to take a pair of new disciples," he replied with a slight smile.

"What?!" the girl asked in shock as she could not believe what she had just heard.

The hierarchy in the sect worked a little differently from others. At the top was the sect leader and under him were the grand elders, then the Judges, then the elders then disciples. There were only eleven judges in the Iudex sect so this was quite a shock.

"I can't believe it. She hasn't taken a disciple in fifteen years but she about to take not one but two..." she spoke as she tried to process it.

"Haha, just wait until they arrive. I'm sure you be even more shocked," Eupheme spoke with an anticipating smile.

Confusion struck as the girl could not believe this. Eupheme was often a man of no expression and did not speak much to people. So seeing him put on such an impatient expression only fueled her excitement and curiosity to these so called two new disciples.

The Iudex sect did not often take disciples and when they did it was once every twenty years. But the last time they did was eight years ago so they must have done something special for them to be able to attract such a powerful figure.

Cough cough!

Fortunately, they did not have to wait long as a series of coughs rang out from the entrance. A young boy and girl walked into the inn accompanied by a woman with a sleeping girl on her back.

Being such an unusual sight, all eyes in the inn fell onto the group.

"I told you to be careful when your drinking," Aurora scolded Leo with annoyance.

Leo gave a wry smile as his attention went to the inn as his eyes scanned around the place, looking for someone.

His eyes eventually stopped on Eupheme and the female attendant and they quickly made their way and sat down on the table.

"Did we make you guys wait long?" Leo asked with a sheepish smile.

"Not at all... Um... Where is Lex?" Eupheme immediately asked as he did not see Lex around. Hearing this, a weak wry smile came from Leo as he quickly asked a question first, "Have you heard of the Jade Empire?"

A serious nod came from Eupheme as he failed to map how Lex not being could be linked to the Jade Empire.

Leo gave a sigh of relief as he understood that explaining would be a lot easier and he immediately began to explain the story to him.

A shocked expression appeared on Eupheme's as Leo finished explaining the whole story. Initially he did not believe it thinking that it was just an excuse to keep the brothers together but then after hearing the level of detail and how Leo had described it, his mind eventually gave in an believed him.

"I hear that Judge Ophelia is taking in two new disciples. It is from two of you guys?" the attendance curiously asked as she realized the difference in how Eupheme treated them.

"It was two but the other one was taken so its just me now," Aurora replied beneath a mask that covered the lower half of her face.

"Your one of them?" the attendant asked as she subconsciously moved towards Aurora with interest.

"Yep," Aurora replied with a smile and the two began to hit off in a conversation while Leo and Wenella then turned to Eupheme, "Are we leaving immediately?"

"Yes. The journey will take about four months so it is best to leave now. I don't want to keep master waiting," Eupheme replied in all seriousness.

"She will understand the situation about Lex right?" Leo asked curiously as he thought of the possibility that Ophelia might be angry about it.

"I can't say," Eupheme replied with a difficult expression, "Let's have some lunch and then we will set off."

A few hours later, a pair of beautiful majestic horses were brought out and stopped right in front of the gate. The group walked out as they began to say their goodbyes.

"It hurts to leave you," Aurora spoke as she reached in and pulled Leo into a deep loving hug.

"Indeed. But this is best for us right now. I promise to come visit you to spend new years," Leo spoke as he reminded Aurora of the promise that he made to her.

A warm smile appeared on Aurora's face as she became happy.

"Time to go," Eupheme spoke as he brought the horse to Aurora.

"Ok, Aurora. You should go for now. I love you," Leo smiled dearly as he pull out of the hug and took Aurora's hand and brought her to her horse.

Aurora sweetly smile as she accepted Leo's hand and walked to her horse, "I love you too."

"Hehe, you will probably steal all the hearts of the boys there," Leo joked as he helped Aurora up.

"All men suck," Aurora coldly replied as she assured Leo.

"I wonder why I keep asking that even though you always respond the same," Leo questioned himself.

"We're off," Eupheme spoke as he pulled on the horse's reigns and trotted off to the horizon with Aurora following closely behind.

A feeling of loneliness struck Leo and he left how large the world truly was and how much he still had not explored yet.

Wait for me. I will train and find the cure to my disease as soon as possible," Leo spoke to himself as he filled himself with motivation.

"So what now?" Wenella curiously asked from behind him.

"Oh," Leo spoke as he suddenly realized Wenella and Laura were still waiting. He paused for a few moments in deep thought before deciding, "let's travel to the Capital for now. I am sure there will be someone who can wake her up there."

"What?" Wenella asked in shock, "Do you not know that you are a fugitive from the royal family right now?"

"Oh yeah!" Leo spoke as he slapped his head as he ridiculed himself.

An expression of extreme annoyance appeared on her face as she could not believe how bad of a brain fart that Leo had just had.

"Let's still go," Leo replied with a careless smile.

"Are you not worried about the royal family?" Wenella questioned.

"Haha. I dared to threaten the Jade Empire, do you think I would be afraid of a little Lapis kingdom?" Leo mocked as he started walking off, "come on. Let's begin now. We're not carrying anything anyway."

"Sigh... You are a weird one," Wenella helplessly spoke as she followed Leo with Laura piggybacking her.

She currently did not have anything to do. She could've just left and roamed the kingdom but she deeply cared for her disciple and the only person that had the power or potential to find a cure was the person in front of her.

Life works in such funky ways...
