48 Chapter 48. Hearing from Ophelia again

Once Leo and Aurora had left, Ophelia walked back to her room and laid there lazily on her couch, waiting lazily for Eupheme to reply as her mind began filling with countless thoughts of Leo's identity.

It took a long half an hour that felt like a year before a loud knock sounded on the door.

Knock Knock!

"Come in," she curiously replied as she immediately sat up straight as Eupheme walked in the door.

There was an extremely badly hidden ugliness about him as he walked in calmly with all muscles in his face tensed as if he had just met a ghost and barely survived.

"Did you get the news? There seems to be something that affecting you," she asked curiously as she tried to find out what was bothering him.

Realizing that he failed to hide his disturbance, Eupheme gave a heavy sigh before slowly replying, "Yes, master. I got the news."

"Take a seat and debrief me on this. I want the whole story," Ophelia replied as she pointed towards a chair on the other side of the table.

Eupheme followed her instruction and quickly took a seat and began to explain, "It all started about a month ago on the ceremony day right after the ceremony, there was a treasure hunt in which the son of the Weaver clan head was revealed as the prize and he was extremely badly beaten.

Outraged, the Weaver clan head came to the Decan clan the next day to demand an explanation and that when Wade's son came and proposed that he and Leo have a duel to decide the future of the two clans."

"Leo? The Areia boy?" Ophelia asked in confusion as she thought he had misheard him.

"Yes, it was Leon Areia. He decided to have the duel with Acul Weaver, the eldest son of the Weaver clan head, who is seventeen years of age," he replied.

"What cultivation realm is he at?" Ophelia asked curiously, her understanding of Leo began to cloud as she could not understand for what reason Leo agreed to the duel.

"Peak condesing realm"

"What?!" she exclaimed in shock as she could not belive the stupidity and recklessness of Leo. Firstly, when she initially found out that Leo had rejected his test, she could not help but scoff mockingly and he agreed to fight a peak condensation realm cultivator when he himself could not have possibly started cultivation yet. How incredibly stupid is this.

"What happened next? Did something happen at the fight? I don't see how this is related to the downfall of the Weaver clan," Ophelia spoke as although she placed Leo in an even more stupid manner.

"The fight was the main thing that caused the downfall of the clan, master. The Weaver clan head and his son were killed that day," Eupheme spoke as he got to the main part and immediately Ophelia's attention was caught as she did not expect that.

"I myself coundn't believe it when I heard the next piece of news so I had to ask a few more sources but they all said the same thing. The person who killed the two of them was Leo," Eupheme spoke unbelievingly.

"What?!" Ophelia asked as she thought that she had not heard him clearly.

"I'm not lying master," Eupheme affirmed.

Immediately, Ophelia's face became instantly ugly for a whole fifteen seconds as she blindly stared at the table. She suddenly stood up and walked towards the door, but before leaving she told Eupheme, "come with me, we are going to see it for ourselves."

...

Back at the Decan clan, Aurora and Leo were cultivating next to the large cherry blossom tree as they sat down cross legged, quietly absorbing the energy in their surroundings. However, despite the peaceful energy-rich atmosphere, Aurora could not concentrate fully as her mind was incredibly disturbed.

"Leo," Aurora nervously called to Leo as she decided to take a break from cultivating.

"Yo," Leo called out indifferently as he opened his closed eyes as he paused his cultivation for a bit.

"Do I really have to join the Iudex sect?" she asked worriedly as she laid down on the peaceful soft grass, facing the clear blue sky that and the bendy brown branches of the chreey blossom tree.

"I'm afraid so... I know that you don't want to but I won't always be there for you in the future, you need to learn to be independent," Leo replied mindlessly as he looked at her with a sigh.

"Huh? Are you going to leave me?" Aurora spoke worriedly as she instantly began to panick.

"No-no. That's not what I meant. Aurora... The path for me up ahead is very dangerous and even I don't know how hard it is going to be," Leo immediately realized what he had said wrong and consoled Aurora.

"But you are going to leave me..." Aurora spoke depressedly as a thin shiny layer of wetness appeared on her eyes.

"I won't leave you. Here, I'll make this promise. I'll come to visit you every six months," Leo proposed as he also laid down next to Aurora.

Hearing this, Aurora's face seemed to have more life and slightly more happiness. She slowly raised her pinky and placed it in front of Leo, "Promise?"

A large smile appeared in Leo as he realized how important he was to Aurora. He also raised his hand and crossed his pinky with Aurora's as he assuringly replied, "I promise."

...

In the city, there stood a large building that seemed like it was placed in the middle of a roundabout. But that was not the main point of interest. The doors on the bottom of the building opened as Ophelia walked out with a solemn expression on her face and Eupheme following her quietly behind as they made their way across the front open courtyard of the building, their brain still rattled in shock and disbelief.

After walking about fifteen steps from the building, Ophelia raised her head to up as she looked to the skies, regret and curiosity filling her as she spitefully spoke, "The Iudex sect might have just lost themselves a potentially good seed. But I am incredibly curious about you now, Leon Areia. What secrets do you hide?"

"Eupheme, tell Leo that I want to meet him again. We have to get them into our sect," she called out and ordered to Eupheme as she made her way to the gate.

"Indeed, master," Eupheme replied as he bowed respectfully.

This building was owned by one of the largest businesses in the whole of Lapis kingdom. It turned out that Ophelia had some relations here and she managed to obtain news on Leo here. She was told about everything clearly from the day they entered the city to the exact scene that happened at the duel day.
