42 Chapter 42. Duel day

"What is it?" Leo asked confusedly as he looked at the book in Alfred's hands.

His grandfather had suddenly asked him to come with him to the area outside the house right after lunch.

"This is one of the three arts that were created by the ancestor of the clan. This was the art that was used by your mom. She mastered this art to the expert stage and was among the strongest females in this city," Alfred replied emotionally as he handed Leo the book.

"Is this really what she used?" Leo asked curiously as he looked at the book in his arms lovingly.

"Yes," Alfred replied and began to walk back into the house with a slightly depressed face, "ok then, I will leave you to do this."

Realizing his tone of disappointment, Leo immediately smiled warmly as he realized how Alfred was feeling, "Grandpa, do you want to help me with my training?"

Hearing Leo's reply, a warm happy loving smile appeared on Alfred's face as happiness filled his body as he happily agreed, " great! Let me see how you two train."

And from this day forward, Leo and Aurora would have their training instructed by Alfred. Initially, seeing their progress, Alfred was shocked to his core with the speed of mastery of their progress.

"With this progress, they will overcome us and exceed our expectations in the short future," Alfred spoke to himself in fear and awe at their talent.

The next four days went by extremely quickly as news spread to all corners of the city as everyone began talking about it, building up tension.

The battle had been planned to take place at the Weaver clan's arena, everyone's thoughts were all inclined towards Acul as they knew the difference in strength and age gap between the two. Alongside that Leo was seen as a weak shameless noble who rejected the test, so he had been put in a massive disadvantage as no one knew about his skills. But little did they know that Leo was planning to use this to his advantage.

"Roll up! Roll up! Place your bets down for who will win the duel? Odds are 1:1 for Acul and 1:50 for Leon! Make your bets now!" a street salesman loudly spoke inside the Weaver clan entrance as he tried to gain the public's attention.

"Haha! Do you think that weakling from the Weaver clan will have a chance?" a cultivator scoffed as he walked past, looking at the salesman in contempt.

"Stop spending your time with that man! Hurry we might not make it in time to see the legendary pink talent girl," another man called out as he slapped the man in the back of the head.

"Oh my! Are you talking about that Aurora girl? My son has been talking about her since that day. He is extremely into her, a boy he can't stop talking about her," a man spoke with a pained sigh as he joined in on the conversation.

"Haha! My son is the same."

"Look! Here comes the Decan clan!"

Immediately all eyes spanned towards the clan entrance as the Decan clan appeared with Aurora, Leo, and Lex. Gazes of admiration and awe appeared on the spectators' eyes as they looked at Aurora and the other clan members. As their gazes fell upon Leo, their faces filled with disgust and jealousy as they envied how Leo was able to be so close to Aurora who was seen as a goddess, and they all saw Leo in a negative light for even agreeing to the fight.

But nevertheless, they all came as this was a form of entertainment that would help take away their boredom.

"You there, I would like to place a bet," Aurora calmly called out to the salesman.

"Indeed mistress! Who would you like to place your bet on?" the salesman replied as he quickly forced himself to recover from his shock.

"I place a hundred thousand gold coins on Leon Areia," Aurora plainly answered as she placed a large pouch filled with gold coins from her spatial storage pouch that was hanging from her belt on her waist to the man and walked off with the men.

"What?!"

"Did she just bet all that on him?!"

"What did she just do?"

The crowd became extremely curious as they became bewildered from Aurora's decision of who she chose to bet on. Why would she possibly bet all that on Leo? No one had even bet such an amount on the fight.

The Decan clan members slowly walked forward and made their way into the clan arena. The arena was almost fully packed with others still piling their way into the arena stands. On one end of the arena stands were the members of the Weaver clan with Acul lazily waiting on the sparring field below.

He was wearing a shiny white light metal armor that seemed to reflect any ray of light that shone on it. On his back was a long light sword that was sheathed in a brown leather cover. His appearance was extremely impressive and he radiated his oppressing aura of peak condensing realm cultivation.

"Haha! We've been waiting for a long time. Did you spend the time finding the confidence to make your way over here?" Acul mocked in laughter as he recognized Leo from the arena entrance.

Leo was wearing a simple leather vest with a thin black undershirt along with bold black pants with simple leather shoes. He immediately split up with the other clan members and walked straight towards the sparring ground.

"Haha, I wish," Leo arrogantly replied as he got tired of the treatment that he was receiving. 'I really should've taken that test,' Leo thought regretfully.

"How long are you going to need to warm up?" Acul asked boredly, "I'm not a bully so I will let you have as much time as you need to gain the courage to step up."

"How kind and caring-But I won't be needing any time to gain my confidence. Let's begin straight away," Leo replied with a fake smile as he went along with Acul's act and walked forward into the center of the field.

Seeing no reason to back down, Acul did the same as he arrogantly approached Leo with utmost confidence.

And at that moment, a man walked out from the entrance and came into the arena and walked to them. He introduced himself, "Hello, you all! I am Rewad Poea. I will be officiating this battle. Now, the rules of the battle are that the first person to admit defeat or be unable to continue anymore will be the loser of the battle. I believe that you both know the stakes and the deal that was made."

"Are both fighters ready?" Rewad asked as he looked towards both boys.

"Yes!" both Leo and Acul replied nonchalantly as they walked away fifteen steps away from each other.

"Fight begin!" Rewad loudly declared.
