38 Chapter 38. Who did it?

As the large crowd slowly made their way into the large arena, they all piled up at the entrance as a long queue formed as Aron and Wade led the group into the arena.

As they walked in, they saw another cultivator who was lying scrunched up into a ball as he lay in a deep sleep in the middle of the arena.

"Look at that man!"

"What is he wearing?"

"Don't look, son! Your eyes are too young for this!"

As the crowd arrived, their eyes were immediately caught by the man who was currently wearing almost nothing as his rough skin laid bare against the ground with his only his underwear.

"Ugh!" gagged Aron as he choked temporarily in disgust as he looked at the man who was sleeping.

Wade quickly made his way to the man with an extremely disgusted feeling and examined the body. Confusion and more foreboding filled his body as he flipped the man over and saw that he had recognized the man who was sleeping soundly with an incredibly satisfying smile as saliva flowed out on his mouth.

Nevertheless, he forced himself to quickly recover and he began searching the man's body for a note. As he quickly turned around and searched the man's body but could not find a single note located on the man's body.

"Don't bother searching- I found it," Aron's voice interrupted and Wade's face slowly turned to look at him and he saw Aron with a note on his hand.

"Where did you find it?" Wade asked confusedly.

"I found it at the stage, it was lying there," Aron simply replied as he then turned towards the crowd and loudly read the message on the note:

"I see you made it here, quite an easy hunt right? That's what I had planned. I didn't have much time to organize this so I had to be quick. Anyways, now go to the clan center and see for yourself. I recommend everyone who does not want to get in trouble to back off for now."

... Silence filled the crowd as they confusedly looked at Aron in confusion. What did the note mean when it said everyone who does not want to get in trouble to back off for now,

"What do you think is happening?" Aron asked as he turned towards Wade but he was nowhere to be seen.

A curious happy smile appeared on Aron's face as he whispered to himself, "How interesting..."

He then turned around to the crowd and warned everyone, "Ladies and gentlemen! I would like to advise everyone that it would be best if you all backed off for now. I cannot determine if this is safe or not."

And without waiting for the audience's response, Aron immediately disappeared as he rushed towards the clan center. He saw Wade there with countless sleeping bodies of half-naked men on the ground, reading a small note, Aron called out to him but just as he did, Wade immediately disappeared again as he dropped the note.

Realizing that something fishy was going on, Aron did not immediately charge after Wade and instead went and picked up the note that Wade had dropped. It read:

Welcome, you made it here. Nicely done! You probably know by now what is happening, you will find your son at the clan entrance with a note in his right pocket.

Aron slowly put his hand down as he stored the note in his spatial ring and started charging towards the Decan clan entrance with much curiosity and eagerness.

'What the heck is happening here? Who was the person who organized all of this?' he thought curiously.

He then arrived at the clan entrance two minutes later with Wade at the same time. At the clan entrance, there was nothing but right in front of the entrance, on the barren dry dirt road was Dan's beaten body. He was currently unconscious as he laid there lifelessly with a faint wisp of breath as he weakly inhaled and exhaled. His clothes were extremely battered and on his abdomen was a particularly ugly cavity as all his skin seemed to cave inwards from broken bones and damaged internal organs.

"Dan!" Wade shouted in concern as he ran to the boy and place him in his arms, he let out an extremely short sigh of relief after finding out that he was still alive.

Seeing his "Fancy seeing you here," Aron coldly spoke as he walked forward and approached Wade.

"You know what I want to know? Tell me what is happening here?" he asked coldly.

"The hell do I know! But my son was hurt in your clan's territory, I wanted an explanation from the clan," Wade angrily shouted back as he directly turned and made his way towards the direction of the Weaver clan.

"Where do you think you're going?!" Aron called out as he released his cultivation.

"Stop that now! Don't you see what you are doing will make the citizens here in the city think that the Decan will wrongfully kill people without an explanation," Wade flinched and shouted in reply.

Hearing this, Aron was brought back into his senses and he froze on the spot as he coldly watched Wade take the injured child away from him.

"Man... Being a clan head is not easy," he complained as he headed back to the clan.

"I need to call all the elders in now, we need to figure out what they were doing in this place and how the mysterious treasure hunt creator got in and managed to capture so many people without drawing any attention. They were all gathering realm cultivators but they had the experience, it would have been nothing for them to have alarmed their other members before but from this case, it doesn't seem to be true," Aron spoke to himself as he looked up and decided.

...

An extremely satisfied smile appeared on Leo's face as he walked back home with Alfred after they had just said their farewells to his friends.

"Grandfather," Leo called out to Alfred as he slowly walked in a warm tone.

"Yes? What is it, Leo?" Alfred asked intrigued.

"What was the name of the sect that mom joined?"

"Sigh... I think it better for you not to know yet Leo... This is my personal business, I will be the one to get revenge on that sect for what they did to my daughter," Alfred spoke solemnly as he reached out and rested his hand on Leo's head and began tousling it.

"Hmph, fine," Leo replied as he turned his head and pouted in disappointment.

"Grandfather, what do you think will happen with Aurora now?" Leo asked another question.

"That's a very good question. But it's also a very hard one to answer. It will depend on her fortune, if she is lucky then she will get into a good sect and will be heavily taken care of. But if she is unlucky, then she will become targetted and wanted by everyone," Alfred spoke as he grabbed his chin as he went deep in his thoughts.

"Do you think that Aurora shouldn't have taken the test as well?" Leo asked as he felt like he had made a small mistake.

"I don't know. It was good that you did because it gave me clues on what you are able to learn in terms of the clan's defenses," Alfred reassuringly answered.

'I just wanted her to shine like a star...; Leo thought to himself as he tried to console himself, 'girls don't often get such treatment and are often treated like objects, I wanted Aurora to shine and show them that both genders have the same chances of being talented.'
