3 Chapter 3. Learning about this world

Days slowly passed by uneventfully… And those uneventful days turned into boring weeks… then to become bland months…

Each day Leo would check up on the mansion since the day that he read that note to make sure there were no unexpected problems. Being a baby, he was bored most of the time due to his frail and weak infant body. So he tried to strengthen his body and mind as quickly as possible so that he would be able to do more things. And this led to him being different from other babies in the village who spend more of their days crying and making their mothers worry.

Firstly, he was always isolated at the start due to his parents' work, his father, Reon, worked as the village's lead farmer while his mother, Ava, was the caretaker of the library which was one of the least paying jobs available in the village.

Secondly, his killing intent had started growing and this was becoming a big problem for him as this had started causing other infants to start crying when they were next to him. This problem was minimal at the start when he was only a week old but however as he grew, it had been unavoidable noticed by his parents who were completely spooked. However, they consoled themselves by explaining to each other that Leon was born to be special. However, because of it, they would often leave him alone at home.

This was surprisingly good news for Leo as he could now be left alone to work on himself with no distractions at controlling his killing intent. Due to his will, diligence, and unmatched talent, he learned to control his killing intent to the point where he could hide it from adult and only children and infants could sense it.

Along with that, as added bonuses, he learned to walk at four months old, which absolutely amazed Ava and Reon to the point where Reon started running wild on the streets thanking the heavens for such a special son. Another month passed by and he had learned how to run and after three months, he began to talk.

When the achievements of Leon were found out by the neighbors, it had shaken the whole village and become a wide-spread rumor. Thanks to his ability to hide his killing intent from adults, he became a child who was loved and cared for by the whole small yet caring village.

And with those three skills, Ava now no longer need to take care of him at home and could begin working again at the library. However, before resuming her work, she decided that it would be best to teach Leon how to read as he might get bored during her long work hours. And because of that, she only continued her work three months later, Ava took him to the library, he would start reading books about this land.

It turned out that the village that he was reborn in was called Mino and it was an extremely poor village in the extreme south of the Lapis Kingdom. In addition to that, he also found out that the Lapis kingdom was the poorest and weakest out of six kingdoms which were Lapis, Ruby, Emerald, Opal, Amethyst, and Quartz, which made up the Crystal Empire on the continent of Icor. Having learned about his situation and starting statue, Leon couldn't help but heave a very heavy sigh of annoyance as he looked up at the skies and mumbled grumpily, "you were not joking at all when you said you were going to put me in the poorest place, you annoying old man."

'Well, there's no time to stay depressed. I need to get stronger!'

Next, he looked around the library for books regarding magic cultivation and found out:

Cultivation in this was differentiated into various five separate realms. The path started with vein opening, manipulation, gathering, condensing, emission. Each realm had a considerable difference and the power level difference was like comparing a pebble to a rock.

He had also discovered that alongside cultivation there were that there were three main occupations that also played an important part and were also ranked in stages which ranged from one to fourteen. They were blacksmith, doctor, and array masters. Blacksmithing was a vital and flourishing occupation as weapons were seen as a vital tool in battle. Next, doctors were even more vital as battles and wars were not rare. And finally, array masters, the rarest occupation due to the lack of people that were talented in mental and soul energy. They had the ability to create defensive systems for sects and kingdoms. For example, a simple detection array could inform the desired person of all things that were happening inside the array's detection range.

Time swiftly flew as Leon spent most of his time reading the books in the library, which were mainly myths and folklore now, but was having the happiest time of his life. And in an instant, two years had passed in the blink of an eye…

Leon had now become a small toddler. He was well-known throughout the village now due to his personality as he acted nothing like such and seemed more like a tiny adult and his appearance had become increasingly more handsome with his glamorous golden brown eyes and smooth flawless brown hair.

However, today Leon was bothered by a certain question that kept him extremely anxious for these two years. Since he was now two years old, he thought that it should be less weird for him to ask. While on the road after helping his mom at the library, Leon abruptly asked curiously "mom, when can I start cultivating?"

"Why do you want to know?" Ava curiously asked back.

"I want to protect mom and dad," Leon spoke as he tried to puff his chest out to show his confidence and determination.

"Wow...I'm sure you will when you get bigger," Ava replied as she bent over to carelessly caress Leon's hair, "You can start when you are five years old. Two years old is a little too young."

"That's so far away though," Leon's head dropped from disappointment as he grumpily complained.

"Haha. Well, Leo, your only two years old and you already act a lot older and your thought process is more mature than all the other kids who are your age. Look at the other kids in the village that are your age, when you all were seven months, they were only starting to learn to stand. You need to have patience. If you grow too quickly then your dad and I won't be able to take care of you."

"Ok! Fine," Leo reluctantly agreed.

"Hey, Leo?" Ava suddenly stopped in her tracks and turned around to look at Leo.

"Yes, mom?"

"Would you like a sibling?" said Ava as she intently stared at Leo, wanting to see his reaction.

"Really?" Leon's eyes suddenly gleamed with unexpected joy as his body lit up and happily replied "yes, please. I would love to have a little brother."

Ava was shocked speechless, she looked to her son with complete shock as she was stunned by his reply. She had been expecting him to say no as he would no longer receive all the attention but hearing him say yes made her feel relieved and all her worries were erased.

"Ok. Good to know. I'm pregnant right now and you are going to have a baby brother in the future," Ava slowly smiled happily as she stroked her belly a few times with her dainty hand.

"Huh.." Leo absentmindedly spoke. It took about a few seconds to recover and eyes fully opened in shock and he ran in his mom's embrace and gave her a big hug with an enchanting smile of happiness, "Thank you!"

As they returned, they ate dinner which was prepared by Reon today and this was a special case as Reon rarely came home early from work so it was probably due to his mother's pregnancy. After finishing the delicious dinner, Leo went to bed early to check up on the mansion in his mind space, as two years had passed, it had nearly finished forming as Leo could now see the whole building clearer and clearer. But every time he tried to touch it, his hand would phase right through the wall as if it did not exist. So thus Leo was helplessly forced to retreat back into reality with a disappointed look on his face.

He laid on his bed and looked up at the thatched staw ceiling and spoke to himself, "I've learned so much in this world already. Let's hope that I can start learning cultivation when I open the mansion. I can't wait! I've been training and life is so boring right now. Because I'm a toddler, I can't do any work yet...sigh… But I'm going to get a little brother… How coincidental... Well, I'm gonna treat him with as much love as I can. I am not going to let anyone treat him like Milo. Anyhow, let's get back to learning to control the killing intent."
