29 Chapter 29. Deal between kids

"I'm Aurora. This is Leo. What's your name?" Aurora introduced herself and Leo as she immediately started the conversation. Seeing the boy seemed to remind her of how she and Leo used to be when they were back at the village.

"My name is Thomas Lukewater," replied the boy respectfully answered.

"Where do your parents work?" Leo suddenly asked with a smile.

"They have both passed away a year ago. But my dad used to work in the Lapis army while my mom was an innkeeper," replied Thomas as his body nervously shook with foreboding.

"I'm sorry about that, did your dad die on the battlefield?" Leo bowed in apology as he did not think that the boy would have such a history.

"Yes," Thomas simply nodded as he turned his body not to face the duo.

"Don't worry so much. We just want to be friends with you," Aurora assured that they were friendly as she warmly smiled at the boy.

'He is just like us. No parents, even worse, his father was someone who died serving the army,' Leo thought as he felt a tremendous amount of pity for the boy.

"I appreciate your kind offerings but I'm not worth it and I'm in a mess right now, I urge you guys to-"

"Haha," a voice spoke out, cutting Thomas's sentence short as a small silhouette of a boy appeared in the crowd, walking slowly towards them with a dozen or so other children behind him.

"You thought you could get away insulting me in public again? If only my stupid guard was completely obedient to me then you would've died before but now, hahaha! You won't get the chance to escape now," the voice mockingly laughed out loud as the silhouette slowly got closer.

'Oh not this tosspot again!' Aurora complained in her mind as she suddenly recognized the voice and the body shape of the body.

And as the boy slowly came closer, the three sitting kids could see that the arrogant child was Wallace Weaver, the boy that they had met before in the street. He was in green luxurious robes which did not look cheap while the children behind him appeared and immediately judging from their appearance, they all seemed to be from the same clan as Wallace as they all wore green robes but the difference was that Wallace's robe was slightly more elegant.

As Wallace got closer, he also seemed to recognize Aurora and Leo as his face temporarily froze as an ugly smile appeared on his face, but that face quickly turned into one of glee as an evil grin appeared on his face. He arrogantly scoffed, "How fortuitous! All three of the people who dare to talk back and even insult me! This is going to be a good day!"

"What did that boy do to you?" Leo suddenly spoke as he slowly turned to Thomas with an extremely annoyed expression on his face.

Being suddenly, questioned by Leo, fear and pressure visibly appeared on Thomas's face as he paused for a moment as he difficultly began assessing whether to tell Leo or not. But eventually, he gave in and told Leo the whole story, "It happened yesterday. The inn that my mother had worked in was owned by the Weaver clan, back then, when my father died, my mom was completely shattered and she did not act normal again. With my dad not able to act as my family's source of income, my mom was forced to work more and she eventually died from overwork. And it just so happened that the youngest master of the Weaver clan was visiting, with the disappearance of my mom, he raged about the service and even insulted my mother and father. And I, in a sudden fit of rage, insulted the boy. And I've been on the run since yesterday. I wouldn't have been here if it wasn't for my mom and dad's last wishes of wanting me to be a strong cultivator."

"I see. It will be inappropriate for me to personally act right now. Aurie, do you want to deal with this?" Leo then turned to Aurora after hearing Thomas's back story and he could subconsciously sense the hidden rage that was spreading through her.

"You know me so well," Aurora slightly laughed as she smiled happily and stood up and began walking towards Wallace and his gang

"Huh? Where is she going?!" Thomas suddenly cried in confusion as he just saw Aurora getting up and walking towards the group.

"Just wait and watch, there will be no problem. Aurie is better at holding back her anger than me," Leo nonchalantly spoke as he shifted his body slightly more backward as he rested his back on the arena wall and relaxingly closed his eyes.

Seeing Aurora slowly stand and walk towards him, Wallace's body shook for a moment as he expected them to be trembling in fear. "Quite bold off you, don't you think?" he mocked.

"I want all of you to publicly apologize here in front of everyone and leave that peasant to me. He needs to pay," Wallace demanded as he proudly stepped forward.

Hearing this, Leo's instantly eyebrows scrunched up in disagreement as he opened his eyes to slowly look over to them, annoyedly speaking in an extremely cold tone, "He has learned his lesson. I personally guarantee that he will not do it again."

"I will teach him a lesson whether you want to or not!" angrily replied Wallace as he realized that he was not going to get what he wanted.

"Sorry but you won't," Aurora coldly responded as she stood up in front of Thomas with her eyes in an ice-cold glare.

"Why do you protect him?" asked Wallace in anger as he felt a secret hidden threatening feeling deep inside him.

"Because we want to. Other's lives are not one that you can just control, leave now, or else I will have to leave you with a little punishment," scarily threatened Aurora as she radiated the aura of a vein opening realm.

While this was an extremely meagre percentage of Aurora's strength, it was enough to completely scare the whole group as Wallace's face turned extremely ugly as fear and weakness appeared on his face.

"How?! How have you already reached vein opening?!" Wallace cried in shock and fear as he could not believe what was happening. 'She looks only around my age and yet, I still haven't started cultivation. How did she already start cultivating before getting her affinities tests?'

"You are just a frog in the bottom the well," Aurora calmly advised as she mocked Wallace.

Unable to find an adequate response, Wallace stayed silent for a whole moment with a very difficult expression. And to his support, a small boy slowly walked out from the group that was following Wallace with a plottingly evil smile as he came up, right next to Wallace, and whispered something into his ear.

After a lengthy yet somewhat short pause, Wallace's once again face lit up as he regained his previous arrogant character and gave the boy a thumbs up as he gave him an evil smile. He then slowly turned to face Aurora and suggested, "How about we make a bet?"

"What do you have in mind?" asked Aurora in reply as she was very open to the suggestion. She was indeed somewhat quite curious about what the boy who came over had said for Wallace to quickly regain the confidence from his previous mood.

"Simple! During the ceremony, we will compete over who gets the most impressive affinity result. It goes like this, if I win, you have to publicly apologize to me and all three of you will work under me forever. However, if you win, then I will let this peasant boy go and even personally apologize to him," Wallace explained, keeping the same smug smile on his face.

"Ok," Aurora agreed instantly without even spending a second to think over the offer.

"Haha! You don't know what you are getting yourself into! I'll be waiting for you to publicly apologize to me!" said Wallace as he mockingly laughed and walked off into the distance.

"What the hell has just happened?!" Thomas cried out in confusion as he worriedly looked at Aurora who was slowly returning to them with a bright smile.

"Why did you do that?! There is no reason to protect me! I don't even know you guys!" argued Thomas with an angry look on his face. Why should a commoner like me be protected by nobles? What is their intention? Why is this happening?!

"Let me tell you a little secret," Aurora cheekily spoke as she pulled Thomas's ear towards her ear, "I am also a peasant."

"What?!" Thomas confusedly shouted in disbelief.

Yawn!

A loud yawn sounded from Leo's direction as he sat up and began lazily stretching his arms and muscles. He then turned towards Aurora and smiled before asking, "Finished?"

Aurora did not even bother to reply and she simply responded with a smiling nod.

"Good. I just realized that I need to go and see Eupheme. I'll go for a walk and be back before the ceremony begins. Do you want to come with me?" Leo asked as he informed the two that he suddenly had something to do.

"Nah! I'll pass on it. I'll spend some time with Thomas! Wallace might come back for him," Aurora strategically rejected after a short pause.

"Fine then. Take care of him ok? I'm gone," Leo replied as he stood up and wave goodbye to them.

'Now, I'm most likely to find him in the clan field. He should be somewhere close to the Weaver clan.'
