Chapter 123. Lex's situation II

After saying goodbye to Edgar, Leo immediately made his way towards Lu Yan who was just sitting down at a table at one of the corners of the hall away from the rest of the immortals who were happily conversing with their families in the middle of the table.

'Isn't that the Drunken Immortal? What is he doing?'

'It looks like he's waiting for someone... Who could it possibly be?'

He didn't have to wait long as Leo quickly arrived. A small smile appeared on his face as he directed Leo to take a seat.

'Look at that young man... It looks like he is the one that the immortal was waiting for'

'Isn't that the man that had a small exchange with Kofi?'

'Holy crap, your right. I wonder how they know each other...'

Seeing Leo walk over to a corner of the room, the Ruby king observed Leo quietly from a far distance and when he saw who Leo had just walked to, his expression changed as he began to feel uneasy and disturbed.

'What kind of relationship does Leo's brother have with the Immortal?' he began to ask himself this question and he made a decision in his heart to make sure that he finds out what relation that they have with the Drunken Immortal.

"Your majesty, I heard that you wanted to talk?" Leo asked, which was answered by a firm nod from the immortal and then Leo took a seat.

"Leo, it's nice to meet you again. Please feel free to call me 'Uncle Yan'. I wanted to speak to you for a long time but I could only wait until you came to us since my job as a king doesn't allow me to just randomly take a trip to another kingdom," Lu Yan began.

Leo nodded understandingly as he replied, "That's completely understandable. I'm actually glad that you didn't come over to my home kingdom. I wouldn't have been able to provide you with proper hospitality."

"If I did come, I would not have expected much. I've been told that there was a war between the Ruby and Lapis kingdoms and that it ended quite recently," Lu Yan commented before changing his tone to a slightly more serious tone, "I wanted to talk to you since you appeared back in my kingdom but the time wasn't right as we were just about to travel. However, now I have some free time so we can have a good talk. I'm sure that you have a lot of questions that you want to ask me and I also have a lot of things I want to talk about to you."

Leo simply nodded as he agreed, "Indeed. I have a lot of things that I want to ask you."

"I'll begin by thanking you for taking care of my daughter while she saw in your kingdom. Back then, we had struck a small accident when my family and I went to visit the Buddhist Empire. We met a group of assassins and one of them use a spatial treasure on Xue-er and this ended up separating her from us. We eventually returned home safely and we immediately searched the whole empire but didn't find her. We consulted the Jade Emperor's father and he told us that 'we would know where she was when the time comes.' So we kept searching, patiently waiting until the day she awakened her bloodline. I had to be discreet about this so I sent Eya to go and pick her up but when she returned, she had come back with an addition, your little brother," the king spoke.

Hearing this, Leo's face concentrated as he could see what was coming next.

"From looking at him once, I could tell that your brother had faint imprints of the Drunken Imperial Bloodline. I immediately knew what had happened and there was a long debate on what to do with your brother. It took a little while but when we realized his talent for cultivation, I decided to take him in and it was then that we did one final ritual to stabilize his condition. I have changed his body so that he will be able to take in our kingdom's bloodline, making him royalty so I made him a prince, currently he is under the status of being my adoptive son and I haven't regretted that decision at all. He's an amazing boy to have around and Xue-er really like to hang out with him," the king continued.

Hearing this, Leo was shocked... He did not expect Lex to make such an impression on the family already. A smile quickly graced his face as he said, "That awesome to hear. Originally, I was also hesitant but I knew that the awakening had done something to Lex and I had no means to cure him so I could only leave him to your guards. Eya promised me that she would take care of him and until now, I've been thinking that Lex had become a part of the royal guards. Thank you so much for taking care of him. He couldn't stop telling me stories about how much fun he has had in your kingdom when we were making our way to Jade city."

"Haha! That's nice to know. I'm slightly worried that he might not have felt welcome. My son can be slightly problematic sometimes... He doesn't particularly like anyone lower than nobles... I've spoilt him too much," Lu Yan laughed embarassedly.

"Ah. That's fine. I'm sure he can be convinced during the tournament that commoners are not necessary as low as nobles," Leo spoke with a calm tone. However, his tone changed as he curiously asked, "Uncle Yan, since your the Drunken Immortal, how much wine do you actually drink?"

"Your actually curious about that?" Lu Yan asked with a dumbfounded expression but he quickly recovered before answered, "Well... It is true that I need wine to survive if that's what you wanted to know. I used to drink a lot but since I had kids, I drink once a day because my children cannot handle the stench of wine yet."

"Oh..." Leo replied dumbfoundedly with his only thought being, 'The woman controls the head...'

"I just have one more thing to ask you, Leo. Your full name is Leon Areia, correct?" Lu Yan suddenly asked with a face full of expectation and seriousness.

"Yes..." Leo answered confusedly as he began to ponder why he was asked such a question. Suddenly he remembered back in Sapphire City when he told her about his name, she seemed to be quite surprised.

'Is there something hidden in my name?' thought Leo as he began to grow curious. He looked up to Lu Yan and asked, "Is there something interesting about my name?"

Hearing this, the Immortal burst into laughter, "Hahahaha! I'm actually more interested in your last name. It seems that you don't know yet. You should have a look at the Jade library when you have the chance. I'm sure you'll find some interesting information about yourself."

"Oh, okay," Leo replied as he made a mental note in his head to make sure to head over to the library when ever he was free.

"Now for the final thing. I learned from Lex that you guys were from a village called Meno and that the war between the Lapis and Ruby kingdoms ended up destroying it, taking your parents life in the process. I'm deeply sorry for your loss. Since you guys are now orphans, it is only right for me to ask the eldest. So Leo, I would like to take Lex as my official adoptive-son and I request for your permission for this to happen. If you don't agree, that is also no problem," Lu Yan spoke as he stood up and bowed his head slightly.

Seeing this, Leo was shocked to the core. He has not expected an immortal, let alone a king, come to him, a commoner, to ask for permission to adopt his younger brother. He was amazed that the king had so much humility and honesty for him to bow his head towards a young man, it may be a slight bow but it was enough for him.

'Mom, even from up there, you're still taking care of Lex. Thank you,' Leo thought as he smiled and looked up at the ceiling for a few seconds, confusing Lu Yan who was beginning to think that he was going to be rejected.

"I completely approve of this. I'm glad it is you who is going to be taking him in, Uncle Yan. I'm sure that you will be able to take care of him well"

Hearing Leo accept, Lu Yan was relieved and happy as he laughed out loud, standing up and patting Leo, "Hahahaha! You have made my day, Leo. Come, let me introduce you to the other immortals."

But just as Leo was about to get out from his chair, there was some movement from the stage that was set up at the front and a pretty female servant walked out, "Her Imperial Highness has arrived."

"Well... Looks like the introduction will have to wait," Lu Yan muttered with an embarrassed expression, "Let go see her. I'm sure you're curious about her anyway."
