103 Chapter 103. Final rankings announced

The crowd were all gathered at the capital's largest field and countless multitudes of people came to witness the ceremonious event. The saviours of the Lapis kingdom or at least the people that contributed to it.

There was a large path leading up to the field that was beautifully decorated with flowers and gemstones. Ribbons stretched from lampost to lampost as a few people could be seen making their way into the field.

The large green grassy field was currently filled with countless people and they all faced towards the end of the field where there was a large stage set up. At the back of the stage were six majestically designed chairs. One for each member of royalty.

Right in front of the stage was a series of empty seats for the top thousand rankers. Right on cue, a series of neighs sounded as countless pitter-patters of hooves sounded as beautifully designed carriages made their way into the scene and countless rankers including Garrick and the crew got off and walked to their respected reserved seats.

And right after the rankers, an extremely gloriously designed carriage arrived and a series of cheers sounded as people recognized this as the king's carriage.

"You are really famous," Leo commented in awe.

"I've done the best that I could for the people," the king replied with a smile as the carriage door soon opened and they walked out.

Seeing an unfamiliar character walk out of the royal family's carriage, the crowd began to fall into deep speculation as they discussed over Leo's identity.

"Who is he?"

"What a handsome man!"

They immediately walked over to the main chairs on the stage.

"King," Leo called out.

"Please, call me Folas," the King replied with a smile as he turned back.

"I think I will watch from a distance," Leo spoke as he disappeared from sight.

A few minutes passed as the ceremony finally began. The King began by thanking everyone for coming here and making it to the ceremony. He then proceeded to thank the top hundred thousand by having their names displayed upon a large stone that worked like a billboard and they were each given five gold coins by the servants.

Seeing their names in the large stone in the view of over a hundred thousand civilians, large proud smiles appeared on the mercenaries' faces as they all felt as if they had served their kingdom well.

Then King then moved on to the top thousands and their names came upon the stone and they were each given fifty thousand gold coins and the same result happened.

The announcement of the top hundred was slightly different from before. The stone suddenly became empty and suddenly a large image of the Lapis kingdom was displayed. The King this time personally stood up and he was handed a scroll containing the names of the top hundred by a servant and he began reading and each name was conferred upon the title of baron and they were each given a castle that would be built on any location of their choice on the Lapis kingdom. Each ranker came up and informed the king where they would like their castle to be built on. Mars, Vanessa, Garrick, and Wenella were all a part of this group and each of them chose an area around the Southern mountain ranges which caused a lot of confusion around the people.

Seeing a difference in the stone, the excitement in the crowd began to escalate as they slowly got closer and closer to the top tens.

The time for the top hundreds came quickly and there was an intense thrilling atmosphere in the air as everyone stared at the king with excitement and expectation. The stone then displayed a large piece of the map of the Lapis kingdom and the King began to read from another scroll again and he began to give a region of the land to the rankers, the same happened until the top five.

And the time finally fell onto the number one spot. The top ranker. The one that almost everyone had come here for. Deathly suspense fell on the field as the King stood up and walked over to the edge of the stage.

"Now for the top ranker. The one that you all have been waiting for, the top ranker is Killing Cloud with three million points!" the King loudly declared and Leo walked out from behind the stage and made his way onto it.

"Woah!"

"He's so handsome!"

"Marry me!"

Immediately the crowd broke out in shock and amazement as they saw Leo. They had expected a mighty looking large middle-aged man but instead, they had received a young adult looking boy who was extremely handsome. The girls among the crowd immediately blushed, all the men immediately looked at him in shock as they felt inferior.

"Settle down everyone," the King spoke and immediately the crowd grew quiet again and he continued, "The rewards for the top ranker are as follows. He will be conferred up a land of any choice. So what part of the kingdom would you like?"

And a large map of the kingdom appeared on the stone and everyone began to look at Leo anxiously. What would he choose? Would he choose the middle? The west? North?

A slight smile appeared on Leo's face as he spoke, "I would like to have ownership of the whole of the Southern mountains."

"What?!" the crowd immediately broke into shock as they could not believe their eyes. What had they just heard? The southern mountain ranges?

The southern mountains were known for their countless magic beasts that were extremely aggressive. It was pretty much the worst place to choose from.

Even the king was extremely surprised but he had to carry on so he forced himself to collect his composure and he looked over to Leo with an extremely curious look, "Next. I know we have promised to betroth a princess but due to Killing Cloud's wishes, that had been taken away."

That day caused a lot of shock and surprise for all of the people at the field that day and it ended extremely unexpectedly.

The next few days resulted in the King being extremely busy with the arts and handing out workers to build the castles while Garrick and the others spent some time in the kingdom, learning the arts that they had obtained from the king while Leo spent most of his time in the Royal library, learning, reading all the books that he could to further widen his knowledge on this world.
