116 Blocking a sword-beam with bare hands

'Where is Shane?' Jason wondered when he sensed the sword-beam shaking violently. 

The sword beam released vast mana fluctuations trying to break out of an unknown invisible chain. This invisible force seemed to restrict its speed which decelerated visibly until it abruptly stopped midair.

As the beam turned more unstable, the slower it became, and Jason noticed that the mana fluctuations couldn't move freely anymore.

The sword beam shuddered violently, as the mana fluctuations tried to force their way out of the invisible shackles. 

Suddenly, Jason sensed a somewhat familiar mana, revealing itself in front of the sword beam, which began to slowly envelop it.

While the sword beam's surrounding area was lit up, the tip of the beam was encased in darkness.
