Chapter 11 Prolog

15k years ago our planet had been exploring the solar system.

The oldest recorded rifts opened and terror walked through.

By the time the rifts were closed the exploration of the solar system ended as those explorers cam home to a desolate landscape to help rebuild.

We also had refugees from many other worlds make this planet home.

Science and magic flourished.

We had almost gotten ready to reach the stars again when 10k years ago the rifts opened again and we waged a war where we actually pushed back against the things of horror and more refugees came through.

Some of the fairytales of today are made up from those beings.

5k years ago we weren't ready to even explore our moon when the rifts opened and we unfortunately were sent nearly back to the stone age.

This time magic failed us and technology was mostly forgotten. we did manage to fight to a draw only because of the rebellion of the creatures of our nightmares that became our allies.

As magic withdrawal came upon us the greatest of monolithic construction became historically unknown buildings and we withdrew ourselves into fairytale and stories to frighten children and make cheezy movies about.

Now magic is returning and with it ancient scrolls and texts are being found around the world describing the last 2 rift wars.

The next time the rifts are going to open should be within the next few years.

The hidden Beings, " We call ourselves Arcana" which means hidden.

In a population of 10 billion humans we number around 1 million. literally 1% of the population. but carry 50% of its strength and power.

Roughly 10% of us decided to keep hidden from the Great Revelation of Arcana.

Hundreds of thousands have been hiding and doing business as humans for 5k years.

Most of us have forms resembling humans.

We've incorporated ourselves into every industry and field of politics.

We've lived through every war and rising and downfalls of nations for thousands of years.

In entertainment for example.

Several beings thought it was funny playing a real Werewolf a and a real vampire in opposing rolls or magicians children going to magic school when they actually were in real life.

Vampires, in law and politics, yes they are there and well established too.

We opened up hidden cities in ancient mountain ranges, under Water, etc.

mythical cities with Ancient elves, fairies, mermaids, even Trolls, Goblins werewolves and vampires.

Plus many more.

Along with the surprise and joy of meeting real Elves, dwarves fairies etc came the nightmares of childhood, werewolves, trolls, Goblins Vampires and many other things that make you wake up screaming in the night.

I'm with the group that decided to stay hidden.

In the humans hysteria you find some mean old lady with several cats murdered because someone thought she was a witch that had cursed a family into loosing jobs, lotteries etc.

A father dog tired working a second job on night shift to feed his family was shot just in case he was a vampire.

So yeah several thousands of Arcana are still hiding in plain sight.

Fear on both side is actually minimal but some cases are just plain stupid.

The world has found a new form of racism.

It's normal to fear what you don't understand but bad to hate because you fear.

The Greatest king

In the vast Nazare Blade Empire, ruled with an iron hand by Emperor Groa Aratat, there existed eight princes, each striving for recognition and power. Among them was Josh Aratat, the most obscure and least acknowledged of the emperor’s sons. Born of a mother who passed away when he was just a child, Josh grew up in the shadows of his more celebrated brothers, his heart burdened with loss and his life marked by solitude. One fateful day, Emperor Groa decreed a challenge: each of his sons was to venture into separate regions of the empire, conquer them, and win the loyalty of their people. The prince who demonstrated the greatest strength, strategy, and ability to amass supporters would be crowned the imperial prince—the heir to the throne. The empire buzzed with speculation. Most believed the title would go to the mighty firstborn, Balek Aratat, renowned for his unparalleled strength. Others placed their bets on the cunning second-born, Jaden Aratat, or the skilled third-born, Gerard Aratat. Few gave any thought to the younger sons, particularly the sixth to eighth—Josh included. In their eyes, he was merely a shadow, unworthy of mention in the race for the throne. But everything changed when Josh encountered a dying man, condemned to execution for the crime of stealing bread. Wracked with despair and tired of his own existence, Josh made a startling decision—he offered to take the man’s place, embracing what he thought would be his end. Yet, in an unexpected twist of fate, death did not claim him. Instead, Josh emerged from the ordeal with a newfound power—an extraordinary ability granted as a result of his selfless act. This gift would not only alter the course of his life but also shake the foundations of the Nazare Blade Empire and the world beyond.
