CHAPTER 67 - A WOMAN’S HEART IS A MAZE

It was the very first time we saw the Gladiatrix Champion beet red and all so surprised. Her reddish cheeks and her tearful gray eyes speak out her inner child.

"Wha-Wait! Stop!" Sierras cried the moment she saw Nigel drawing out the Transformation Card.

"Activate Transformation Ca-pwah!"

Nigel was interrupted by a swift right hook on his right cheek. He flew like a drill in midair afterward, and then landed on the soft dewy grass.

"Gah!"

"I told you not to activate it, idiot!" Siferas cried. Then she held her chest and sighed. "Phew, that was close."

"Awww, I thought I'll see Master Siferas' transformation." Raynevere whimpered.

"You'll see me transform once you are strong enough to beat me in my base form." Siferas fed her ego as she bulked up and put her hands on her waist.

I got myself in deep thought. I think I saw Siferas already in her Transformed state. Back in the Master-Grade Battle Fiesta Finals, Siferas is wearing a white gown and wielding an ice sword. She also had that icy-cold blue eyes that were mesmerizing and threatening at the same time.

I want to show it to Raynevere, but I do not have the recording of that fight. Maybe I'll search the web and find some videos about it.

I was about to pull out my phone but then Siferas interrupted us.

"Let's call it a night. I won't be here tomorrow so you guys can enjoy your day. But our sparring matches will now be this late. It will be good training for you because Battle Fiestas are conducted during the night."

"Yes, Master!" Raynevere and I bowed.

"Good! Dismissed!" Siferas said.

It was already late, so commuting is not an option. I don't want to call my father and fetch me too. Raynevere has always insisted to carry me home with her Striker Wing, so that's the mode of our transportation for the past training sessions.

Enough, strolling in the night skies with my fiance is the best part of the day. My fear of heights is already no more because she's always holding me tight to her breasts. She knew that I'm exhausted from pranks either, so she no longer dive like she was going to kill me.

Our flights are mostly slow and steady, just enjoying the night skies, the city lights, and the cold breeze.

"Say, Raynevere. Where do you live nowadays?" I asked.

"Oh? I own a condo unit near Saltside City Square. It's way nearer to our school, and I often sleep there when we are busy during beauty pageants. Now, that's the only home I have." Raynevere said.

"So you live there alone?"

"Mmm-hmmm." Raynevere nodded.

I had something in mind that made me blush. But I wanted to speak my heart out since she seemed lonely.

"I-If you want, you can sleep in my house if you are feeling lonely."

"E-Eh!?" Raynevere's cheeks and elf ears turned red. Realizing her reaction, made me blush too!

"I-I don't mean it that way! I'm just implying that my parents would welcome you to our house." I reasoned out.

"O-Oh. Okay. I'll consider it next time, Mister Elzane." Raynevere said. She immediately shifted to a gloomy face. "But for now, I just wanted to be alone."

"Okay," I muttered.

Of course, she would reject my offer. She does not love me as much as I love her. I know our contract: That we will just use each other for our ends. It's hard to force somebody to love you even if you know it's impossible.

But Master Siferas said otherwise. I'm just not sure to believe; my senses, my feelings, or others' opinions. A woman's heart is a complicated maze, and it is normal to get lost. There will be a lot of time wasted exploring it, but once you figure it out, it will be worth it.

I was interrupted when I noticed that we were not taking the same aerial route. We made it to the Saltside City Proper and we just passed by our school.

"Um, Raynevere?"

"Why won't you stay in my home instead?" Raynevere smiled.

"W-What?"

"We're taking the shortcut!"

It was too late when I realized that we landed on the balcony of about the fourteenth floor of a large building. The balcony itself is tidy and clean, with not much design except for the classic railings. The glass walls do not reveal Raynevere's home because it's dark from the other side. All I can see are our reflections.

"R-Raynevere."

All of a sudden, the woman I loved hugged me tight, with her ears listening to my beating chest.

"Please stay a bit longer, Elzane," Raynevere begged.
