Given The Legendary Power Despite Being Talentless?

He had been useless his entire life, so what would change?

Rowland had been a kid with little talent in most things like maths and sports. He was always physically fit through running but sports like football were a no-go for him.

He had been labelled 'useless' by his peers and he had no desire to lash out or defend his name. He simply wanted to live his life free and blameless.

That was the plan until the accident happened.

Rowland had been running errands in the city center, trying to gather anything he could find that was listed on the paper he held.

As the boy opened the door to enter a small shop, he heard a small noise, like car tires screeching and then a gunshot. Finally, screaming.

Rowland now scrambled further into the shop but it was too late.

First, he felt nothing but then a searing pain shot through him faster than a cheetah could run. He had been shot through the back and out of the stomach.

He gargled up blood as he fell to the floor. Feeling light and strange. He couldn't describe the feeling exactly.

He then closed his eyes for the 'final' time.

Rowland Damus opened his eyes, floating in a strange void of nothingness. His eyes couldn't pierce through the thick blackness.

He began to hear his own voice but...it sounded more mature, mixed with countless other voices. 'Open your eyes...rise.'

He gasped, sitting up as he was suddenly jolted from the strange void dream. His hair seemed to be a little longer as he moved his hands softly through his jet black hair. He looked down at his clothing. He now, somehow, wore a plain white shirt covered by a black, cloth (Or fabric) jacket that had intricate but barely noticeable star patterns near the bottom of the jacket. It had its three buttons fastened at the top. He also had dark navy blue trousers on with black shoes.

Personally, Rowland thought he looked stylish, and so he did.

Now looking about, he saw he was resting in a tree at a strange meadow. He easily jumped down from the tree, not even wincing as he hit the grass.

Rowland now looked about, feeling around his waist and gripping the handle of a sword. He now pulled it out of its scabbard and stared at it: It was awesome!

Despite looking like a normal blade, it's handle had a small yin/yang symbol on the very top and the dark hilt had a smooth feel.

The fuller shone when it caught the light, a slither of silver glow that seemed almost satisfying.

He now stretched a little and felt the place where his wound was to see that...it was gone? This just confused him? Was this the afterlife?

BOOOM!

This cut Rowland off from his thought train as he heard this.
