Chapter one NEw Beginnings

I was gazing through the dirty blurry glass of the bus window as the bus sped through the graveled main road,I couldn't help but watch the crowded roadside filled with vendors as they sold and haggled prices with customers that were interested in buying.

some where Hawking with trays on their head that displayed their wares in a eye-catching arrangements.

my eyes were watching and my brains were being imprinted with the site before me.i noticed the vast difference between the golden city and my hometown.

Tall red stoned buildings graced each sides of the street casting shadows from the hot blazing run.

"park!park!make sure everybody pay and no forget things!" the bald and angry looking conductor sitted next to the bus entrance shouted as the bus finally drove into a wide car park that was occupied by identical looking bus that had large words painted on them"Ndlovu bus transportation".

I grabbed my small worn out bag that held all my belongings and alighted alongside other passengers.i

The large bus park was barricaded by rusted slightly tilted iron fence.

I searched for shade due to the sun's burning light,I saw a deserted stone situated under the shade of a slightly leaveless mango tree.

I sat down and watched in curiousity as I studied my surroundings.women and girls walked with trays of friuts and packaged fastfoods searching for hungry passengers.

some buses were loading and offloading passengers, while some were driving into the park,I've never been in the presence of people this much.

Back in my village at shakaland, our houses were red earthen huts with thatched roofs, only few buildings like the local school and a police's station were made of concretes.

I heard faint grumbling noises from my stomach indicating I was hungry, I had only eaten a wrap of malva pudding maa xolani had made for me back at the village before coming here.

I wasn't holding any other money cause mama had only sent me my exact transport fare to come to Johannesburg.

I was hungry ,sore and irritated due to the 21 hours journey to Johannesburg, the city of gold.

But my excitement and curiousity of being in the city gave me a source of strength.

I was still looking around when a tall surprisingly Fair skinned man walked to me,dressed in an all black suit,he slightly bowed."miss lerato Andiswa?".I nodded in response.

"your mother miss Thembe sent me to get you".He collected my bag and I followed him to a nice looking black car.

He opened the passenger seat,I hesitantly entered and he entered the drivers seat.

Turning the car's ignition switch to life, the eingine purred and I watched with rapt attention as he drove out of the park.

The car was driving till I couldn't see the ugly looking houses or roadsides filled with vendors anylonger as it entered more refined streets, filled with black smooth gravelled road,no vendors or beaten down cars could be seen around.

only few other nice looking cars were on the highway and fine tall gated residence and estates could be seen.

I laid my head back on my car seat when the driver said.

"we're in sandton now,we are heading for the khumalos residence".I nodded as if he could see the gesture and my tiredness pulled me into a deep sleep.
