Somehow, this gets his attention. Gael fully faces me now and tilts his head to the side as if studying me, his eyes trailing down my body and then back up my face. I feel so conscious as he openly stares at me. "Are you asking me out on a date?"

Oh god. My heart beats loudly in my chest, and I feel like throwing up. My hands shake and I have to clench them together to stop them, his eyes follow the movement before he looks me in the face again, waiting for my answer. I have a feeling that he's not easily fooled. But I have to try.

Fuck this. Lifting my chin, I tell him, "Yes, I am," with a confidence that I don't have.

A dangerous smile curls on his lips as he comes closer and stands in front of me—so close that I have no choice but to step back until my back hits the wall. His eyes bounce between mine as if he's trying to read my secrets and I'm so nervous, I audibly gulp.
