32 Going downhill

Crystal Mist High, Library

Jordan hasn't shown up yet and June has been waiting for two hours, going on three. June started worrying but then thought that Jordan might just be busy with other stuff or just forgot that they were suppose to meet up. Anyway, it's almost time for June's next class, so he grabbed his books and backpack and left.

Students crowded the bulletin board as June passed the hallway. June saw Isabelle, Alex and Pearl in the crowd and approached them, curious of what's happening.

"Hey guys" June greeted, standing next to them. "What's going on?"

Pearl, who's writing something on her tab, answered "An Officer came not to long ago and apparently a bunch of students went missing for the last month or so"

Dread filled June as he thought of Jordan not showing up, but he immediately shook the feeling off as it might just be a coincidence.

"How many were they?" June asked

This time it was Alex who answered "From what we've heard, gathered and saw, there were about Fifty students and counting. Thirteen were from the football team who suddenly dropped out, five from the basketball team, ten from the cheer squad, two seniors, five juniors and the rest are a mix of freshmen and sophomores"

"How did they went missing?" June asked, a little disturbed by the information.

Isabelle lifted her head from her mini notebook and answered "I interviewed the Officer who posted the missing report posters, and it was all the same scenario. 'They were invited to a party and has never been seen since'"

"Luke" June said, as his voice turned cold and his face drained of blood.

"Luke? You mean the former quarterback?" Isabelle asked

"He was one of the missing students and according to the reports, he and the rest of the football team went missing after they all suddenly dropped out of school" Pearl said

"How did you know that?" June asked, confused and a little suspicious

"We have a lot of sources" Isabelle said, shrugging

"Everyone get to class!" Miss Kage shouted and the students disperse, rushing to get to their next class.

"And Mr. Summers, please see me in my office" Miss Kage said, then walked away

"We'll see you later, June" Isabelle said and the three of them left.

June didn't know why he was being called to Miss Kage's office. He tried recalling if he had done something wrong or whatnot, as he walked to Miss Kage's office.

He arrived at Miss Kage's office and he gently knocked.

"Come in" Miss Kage said from inside the office.

June opened the door and saw Miss Kage facing her computer. Miss Kage turned her gazed to June and said "Come in and close the door"

June entered and closed the door as instructed.

"Please sit" Miss Kage said, nodding her head to one of the chairs in front of her desk

"Am I in trouble?" June asked, sitting

"No" Miss Kage said, "In fact I called you hear because I want to ask you about Mr. Luke Banebrigde" She said, resting her hands on the table and folding them.

"Luke?" June said, surprised and wasn't at all expecting it

"Yes" Miss Kage said with a voice calm "We have reason to believe that he is behind the disappearance of so many students lately"

"Why'd you think that?" June asked. He was still unsure if he could trust Miss Kage or not, so he was still being guarded.

Miss Kage let out a sigh and said "I'm a Gifted like you, Mr. Summers and I've been protecting Crystal Mist from the Chaos and Shadows for a very long time. And for a while now, I've had my eyes on Mr. Banebridge. For the past years, since he mysteriously appeared in Crystal Mist, Weird things started happening every once in a while."

"Like what?" June asked

"Students going out of control, A monthly suicide on the same exact date and a whole lot more. And trust me you don't wanna hear the rest" Miss Kage said, "Anyway, going back. Teenagers going missing happens from time to time, but fifty teenagers and counting in a month? That raises the alarm"

"But why are you telling me this? I haven' seen Luke since he dropped out of school" June said

"Yes, I know. The reason I'm telling you this is, if this continues and goes out of hand, many innocent people will die. So I'm kindly asking you of any information that could help us catch Luke" Miss Kage said

"How do I know I can trust you?" June asked, although there's nothing really to question

"You don't" Miss Kage simply said "But I suggest that you stop by the School dormitories and ask for the whereabouts of Mr. Young"

June felt his heart dropped to his stomach "What are you trying to say?"

"I think you already know what I'm trying to say" Miss Kage said, Then she looked at her watch "You still have class, so I won't keep you long. I'll be sending your teacher a message, explaining why you were late. Thank you for your time Mr. Summers"

June guessed that it was now okay to leave, but his legs felt like jello. June gently got up from the chair and quietly make his way to the door but Miss Kage said "Oh and Mr. Summers" making June turned his head to Miss Kage.

"If you're ready to give some information, my office is always open" Her voice gently and almost sympathetic.

"Yes ma'am" June said, then he opened the door and got out.

Crystal Mist High, Male Dormitories

The Male Dormitories, looked so sleek and very manly. Not at all you would expect from a dorm building. The design is very modern and contemporary. Inside everything screams bachelor pad. From the masculine looking chandeliers to the black velvet couches, The interior painted in black and gray, and they even have expensive looking artworks, which made June think how much does it cost to live here for a whole school year.

But the main reason why he was visiting the male dorms is to ask for Jordan. He approached the hall director, who is surprisingly a girl, given that this was the male dorms. She sat behind the counter and is on the computer.

"Ummm..... Hi" June greeted the Hall director

The hall director turned to June and her face lit up "Hi, I haven't seen you here before. How can I help you?" She said with so much energy. Which literally lifted June's mood, even if it's just a little.

"I was suppose to give this to my friend but he must be busy, so I decided to just bring it to him here" June said, lifting the notebook that he was suppose to give Jordan.

"Awwww... your a great friend" The hall director said, "Hey, if you tell me his name, I can direct you to his room"

"Uhhhh.... Jordan.... Jordan Young" June said

"Ohhhhh, Jordan! He's a sweet kid!" She said, but then she remembered something that darkened her expression "I remembered, Jordan didn't come home last night and hasn't been back since"

"Do you have any idea why? or did he mention anything?" June asked, as his heart started beating faster

"Nothing in particular, But I remembered a lot of the guys here were going to party and Jordan was with them" The hall Director said, "We have an app that let the guys here know if its almost curfew and the dorm's about to go into lock down. But the lock down happened and all, but none of the boys returned. When that happens, we sent texts to the boys asking them of their whereabouts but not a single one responded. We've been sending texts and even tried calling them multiple times all day but not a single one answered. So I immediately notified the cops" The hall director said, almost in the verge of crying.

"Anyways, Thanks for your help" June said calmly, but inside he was freaking out

"Hey, I'll notify you if anything comes up" The hall director said

"Thanks" June said again. He gave his number to the director, said their good-byes and left.

June felt like everything's started going downhill, and somehow he felt guilty of what's happening. Luke hated him and he's using innocent people to get back at him, especially those who are close to him.

June immediately went to Miss Kage's office and knocked.

"Come in" Miss Kage answered, and June entered

"Mr. Summers-!" she said in surprised but June said, "I'm ready to talk"

And for the next two hours or so, he told her every detail of the relationship he had with Luke. The moment they met to the moment Luke tried to kill him, he told her everything.
