14 The Deal

When I arose the next morning Tzadqiel was standing at my bedside, I covered my mouth to keep from shouting and he smiled at my frightened face, amused.

"I have something important to ask you." He stated. I looked at Miguel who was sleeping soundly beside me... this is the second time I've known him to sleep.

"What's the question?" I whispered, out of consideration for Miguel.

"If you could do something for Miguel so that he can live, would you? Answer carefully." My eyes widened. I was in shock by his question but I knew my answer without a second thought.

"Yes! Of course! Anything!" I shouted too loudly and covered my mouth.

"Even-" I cut him off,

"I would do anything!" I repeated,

"Alright... I can see you're sincere. So... I wish you both well. I'm rooting for you." He replied, tilting his head and smiling. After that, he vanished from the room. Well, that was ominous, maybe I shouldn't have cut him off.

"Why are you yelling so early in the morning?" Miguel groaned holding his head then he yawned loudly. "That's weird... I think I have a headache..." He mumbled. Then he looked at his hand. "What the hell is going on?" His face looked more annoyed than anything.

"Kiel just visited me... he was saying something weird..." I stated, staring at him as he stared at his hands flipping them over as if he'd never seen them before.

"Unless he asked to f*ck you I don't care," Miguel replied. I bit my lip.

"... Th-then can I ask you... why you're still naked?" I stated.

"My clothes won't manifest..." Miguel replied. "Tzadqiel...wait, am I... alive? He said there was a reward... but, this is unexpected." After that, he wouldn't stop laughing. "Wow, Heaven's engineers are amazing!"

"Why do I waste my time speaking, when you never listen?!" ☻

I ended up sneaking one of my mom's spare butler uniforms and a pair of shoes into the room for Miguel to wear. He tied his hair back and seemed to move even more gracefully than usual as he dressed. I turned away to give him privacy but when I looked back at him all I could think was that the suit... suits him. Hah, a pun. I made myself laugh then covered my mouth so Miguel wouldn't notice. He ended up not wearing the jacket and refusing to wear it or tuck in his shirt, he also left the top 3 buttons undone. I was disappointed that he didn't wear the coat at first but when he's dressed like this, you can't even tell that he's wearing the uniform.

"So... how did this happen?" I asked. Miguel squinted at me as if he thought I just asked a stupid question. "You're alive again, I'm amazed."

"It has something to do with my agreement with heaven," Miguel replied vaguely.

"S-so... was it because you... um... had sex with me?" Miguel almost burst out laughing.

"The people in heaven aren't big on premarital sex, so no..." He answered while rolling up his sleeves to just below his elbows.

"Then why?" I asked, pondering to myself.

"... I'll tell you after we repeat what happened last night, a few more times." He whispered.

"N-no, wait," I stated, Miguel stared at me perplexed. "Last night... you somehow managed to dull my pain... but today... I'm really sore... it hurts just sitting down..." I explained, blushing from having to say so much.

"Oh? Well, I guess you're not really that curious." He remarked. I opened my mouth to protest but he put his finger to my lips and said. "When you're feeling more curious, please let me know." I pouted, causing Miguel to smirk. He does seem to display happiness more easily, is it because he's living now? "Lemon, let me make this clear. Just because I'm alive again, doesn't mean you're forgiven for killing me. There's still work to do." His words hurt me slightly but I nodded and smiled at him.

"I know... of course." Miguel stared at me until it became awkward and then he gave me a glorious smile.

"You're too adorable, sometimes, Lemon." He started smiling wider then grabbed my cheeks and pulled me in to kiss. My heart was pounding crazily, and there was nothing but warmth around me so nothing could numb my senses. "You smell nice, and even your lips taste sweet... all these sensations make it harder to resist you." He mumbled, nuzzling his nose on mine.

"Th-that must be the chapstick I put on..." I answered, covering my mouth.

"I want to taste other parts of you." He whispered. My heart shuddered.

"W-wait we already agreed to wait!" While I was speaking he pushed me down on my back and then leaned in to press his lips on mine again. It was at that moment my mom came in.

"Sweetie, breakfast is re....ready..." She stared at us and Miguel rolled off me and sat on the edge of the bed.

"Good Morning Mrs. Mitch-." He said while waving but he was cut off by my mother's ear-shattering scream. I guess it's safe to assume she's a bit shocked.

Later...

"Oh, so you're Lemiette's friend?" She inquired. Miguel nodded.

"I came over last night, to see Lemon. She wanted to tell you but you weren't home." He answered, very charismatically.

"You invited someone into MY home without MY permission?" She asked, directed at me and I shrank away, hiding behind Miguel.

"Actually," He began "I came over here unannounced... she would've informed you but she said you only have a house phone. So we waited for you and ended up falling asleep before you arrived." He explained. Indeed, she doesn't have a cellphone but how did he know that? Did he have some type of all-knowing powers as a ghost?

"Oh... well okay... that explains it. I'm sorry I wasn't here to welcome you." Mom replied. Miguel shook his head, smiling.

"It's fine, I understand that you were busy," He stated and my mom hung her head looking slightly ashamed, probably because she neglected me in favor of fooling around. "Is it okay if I stay until tomorrow and leave with Lemon?"

"Well... yeah sure but no sleeping in the same room, I have a guest room, so take all your things there." Miguel smiled and decided not to let her know that he had no things, at all. "So... are you really JUST friends?" Mom asked me.

"Well... um..." I didn't know what to say, the last time I called him my boyfriend he got a little ticked with me.

"I thought we were more than just friends, it makes me sad to see that you're hesitating so much," Miguel stated in that mocking tone. I looked at him and he was smirking mischievously, he didn't look sad at all! Why does he enjoy picking on me so much?

"We're dating. He's my boyfriend." I answered grumpily. Mom's expression brightened.

"You had been hung up on that Jack guy for so long; I thought you'd never date anyone again! I'm so happy to hear that. No wonder you've been looking so pretty lately, last time you came to see me you had dark circles around your eyes and dirty hair, it was awful!" Mom rambled on and on about how bad I looked, ignoring my attempts to shut her up. Miguel laughed.

After Mom had calmed down she began asking Miguel things about him and he answered her politely. Why can't he do that with me?

"Oh, so you're 23? What high school did you go to?" Mom asked.

"Envisage High School," Miguel answered with a plastered smile. It's really irritating how nice he's being. I had to find out what school he went to through a thorough investigation and yet he just tells her?! I was pouting and Miguel glanced in my direction before saying, "Oh I promised to take Lemon shopping today, is it okay if we go out for a little while? I promise not to take her away for too long." He explained. Mom looked from me to him then she rubbed her head and sighed heavily.

"Yeah, that's fine with me." She answered smiling.

"Well we should go now, to avoid being out late, so come on Lemon," He stated, holding his smile then grabbing my wrist and dragging me out the door.

"W-wait you're pulling too hard!" I complained. He let me go once we reached the sidewalk, outside my mom's front gate.

"Ow... it's annoying having to smile so much. My jaw hurts." Miguel complained rubbing his face.

"Then why were you doing it?" I asked as I stood staring at him.

"I wanted to make a good impression with your mom." My heart fluttered with his answer so I dared to ask,

"Why?" Miguel gave me that belittling look he does sometimes.

"Because you're my girlfriend and I want your mom to like me," Miguel answered succinctly. He stated it as if the answer was obvious but my face went beet red and I could no longer look at him so I turned away.

"I thought that was just something you wanted my mom to believe..." I commented. Miguel sighed before saying,

"So you would give up your virginity to a guy you didn't even think was your boyfriend?" He questioned and I turned to him flailing nervously.

"No of course not!" I replied, "Of course, I think of you as someone very important to me... I just... didn't think you felt the same." I looked at his feet then tried to look at his face but my beating heart wouldn't let my eyes stay there long.

"I do..." Miguel said, then he grabbed my hand before asking, "Is the shopping district close enough to walk or should we call an uber?"

"Oh, so you really want to go shopping?" I asked.

"Well yeah, I have no clothes and I need a cellphone...you can make up your debt a little by buying it for me." How nice of him to blackmail me into buying him stuff.

"It's a little far so.... we should call uber," I stated, as I pulled out my phone and made the call.
