5 I Have Chills

Once I calmed down Miguel began telling me more about his afterlife friends to repair the mood. He smiled a lot when he talked about them and never did he say anything negative about either of them. I could tell he liked them both a lot. Tzadqiel (Kiel for short) is a very logical and straightforward person. He always says what he means and he always encourages Miguel to do the right thing but never tries to force him. Damien always tries to force Miguel to change his perspective to suit his own. It rarely works but Miguel seems to enjoy debating with Damien so it's not a bad thing. Damien is very commanding and overbearing and throws fits when things don't go his way but Miguel seems to find that behavior amusing or endearing. He retells instances where Damien got angry with an overjoyed smile across his face. After a long time of listening, I decided to ask.

"What form is Damien usually in; male or female?" Miguel tapped his chin thoughtfully.

"Whenever he gets too excitable he transforms into a woman but no matter what emotion he feels in his female form he won't change back into a man. I guess that means his female persona is stronger." He answered; I wasn't sure how this statement answered my question though... "So female, probably. But I recall spending time with both forms equally." He clarified. I frowned.

"I see..." I mumbled and just as quickly as those words left my lips, Miguel was sitting up with his face close to mine.

"What's wrong? Are you jealous maybe?" He asked. I looked away from him, pouting.

"Of course not! Don't joke like that." My reply made him pout then an awkward silence ensued...

"I'll be back later," Miguel muttered. The irritability in his voice made me nervous and before I could protest he vanished... I wonder what's got him so upset... I stayed up as long as I could but passed out while waiting for him. When I woke up to the sound of the alarm from my phone he was back and had breakfast prepared for me. "Good Morning... I hope you slept well." He's greeting me as if nothing had happened. I'm not sure what I should do or how I should handle this situation. Should I ask him about what made him upset yesterday or would that be stepping over the line? Maybe I should just eat breakfast and act as if nothing has happened as well... Yeah that's what I'll do.

Another week went by. The weather was hot like always but with Miguel at my side, I barely noticed. Today I decided that I needed to go to the culinary building and ask the seniors there if they knew anything about Miguel... and about what girls he was friendly with.

"Why are we here?" Miguel asked as I was roaming the culinary arts hall after skipping Geology.

"Investigating," I answered, trying to be mysterious. He rolled his eyes. I saw a girl standing by the water fountain and built up my strength to approach her. "Hey, I hope I'm not bothering you," I admitted timidly, she wiped her mouth with the back of her hand.

"What do you want?" Her tone was just as rude as her word choice.

"I'm hoping to talk to some seniors... can you tell me which class I might find them in?" She pointed down the hall to a classroom in an irritated manner, I kind of wondered if she was being honest or just pointing in a random direction. I decided to thank her and take her advice anyway, thankfully she wasn't lying. It was a club meeting and I could tell by their uniforms that had been in this school for a while. Miguel stood at my side quietly when I yelled out suddenly. "Excuse me!" Everyone turned towards me. It was a little nerve-racking to have so many eyes on me at once but since Miguel is with me, it's not so bad. I looked to my left to thank him quietly for being there and that's when I realized I was alone. So, I panicked.

"What is it?" A girl asked. She had a round face but pretty features, and she was 100 times more polite than the first girl I met today.

"I was just wondering... if any of you know a guy named Miguel... he went to school here 3 years ago..." I began, and the girl's eyes widened.

"Miguel Aguilar Rivera?" She inquired... I've never known his last name, but so I would not seem unknowledgeable, I merely stated,

"Oh, so you know him?" In hopes that she'd give me clues as to whether or not this is the same, Miguel.

"Yeah, he dropped out of school after he and his roommate fought." (That can't be him) I thought to myself. "He was chosen to go to the national cook-offs and when he disappeared there was no one good enough to replace him." I wasn't sure if we were talking about the same person so I had to investigate further.

"He... contacted me looking for someone but I forgot their name. It's a girl he was close to, do you know anyone like that?" The 5 people in the room looked at each other but none looked like they had an answer.

"I can only think of Cerena." One of the guys in the room began. "She's in the music department." I bowed to thank him then before I left I turned to ask,

"Has his hair always been that reddish-brown color or does he dye it?" I asked in a joking tone as if I was teasing him a little.

"I went to high school with him, it's always been like that." One of the other girls stated, giggling. I laughed. Good, we are talking about the same Miguel.

"Oh! I was just wondering. What High School did you go to?" I asked, hoping to aid my search.

"I went to Envisage High." She answered. I repeated what she said in my head to not forget. The name of that school is familiar for some reason then I remember reading about it.

"Wow, that's a really prestigious school... oh, and thank you for the help. I should hurry so, bye!" I remember now, that's the school Jack went to... Anyway, classes aren't important right now... I need to hurry and find this girl for him. I was hoping he'd reappear after I left the building but he seemed to have gone AWOL. I couldn't help but sigh repeatedly. As soon as I made it to the music department someone spoke,

"Lemon?" chills ran down my back as a voice I didn't want to hear entered my ears. I started to instinctively take off running but he stopped me by grabbing my wrist and pulling my back to his chest then embracing me from behind. "Lemon... I missed you..." I forgot he's a musician!

"...Let me go...Jack." I couldn't believe how angry I still was at this person.

"You look nice today, almost as pretty as back when we were dating... I'm glad you weren't depressed forever." I slipped out of his arms but he took hold of my wrists and yelled "Wait!" I refused to look at him. "I'm sorry for what I did... but I... I hope we can get past it and maybe start over again?" He inquired while letting his eyes roam over me.

"Why?! Plus if you really wanted to be with me, you wouldn't have dumped me in the first place!" I shouted, snatching myself from him.

"What are you talking about? I never broke up with you... you ran out of the room in such a hurry and never spoke to me again..." The events of that day are a little foggy now but I do remember one thing for sure.

"Let's break up, okay? If you have any questions come to my room... that's what you texted me on that day." I mumbled, feeling a little confused.

"I don't know what you're talking about." He stated. His statement sounded honest but I know better than to believe the words of a cheater.

"I still have the text... so I won't forget why I hate you." I hissed. Jack frowned.

"Lemon." He reached towards me and I flinched away but his fingertips still gently brushed my cheek. "I never wanted to leave you... Amber was a fling... what we did was wrong, but I'd be an idiot to choose her over you." Something began moving around in my stomach and I instantly felt sick. "You always run away from me and you blocked my calls... I had wanted to talk to you like this." He leaned his face towards mine and I backed away and fell against the building's entrance steps, hurting my back. Jack laughed and then looked away sadly for a moment. "I guess, you didn't come here to see me..." He sighed and reached down, gently grabbing my shoulders and helping me up. "I hope we can talk again later..." He turned to leave and I fought the pain in my stomach to yell,

"Do you know a girl named Cerena?!" He paused in his steps. "She went to the same... high school as you... so I thought I should ask..."

"Yes... I do, do you want to talk to her?" I nodded. He smiled and extended his hand toward me. "Okay, I'll take you to her." I refused to take his hand but followed him anyway... I wish Miguel was here with me. I really need him right now... Jack stopped in front of a room and then quickly kissed my cheek. "That's payment for my help," I screamed and touched where he kissed in protest then he left. I was happy to be alone and after a few minutes, I finally knocked on Cerena's door. A petite girl with long black hair opened it and I took a deep breath before asking.

"Hey... were you, once, close to a guy named Miguel?" Her pupils dilated and she grabbed onto me and screamed.

"Why?! Do you know where he is? Tell me where he is! I need to see him! I need to talk to him. Who are you?! How do you know him?!" Her eyes filled up with tears and there was no doubt in my mind that she loved him... this must be the girl.

"Well..." I started to speak... But how can I answer her? He's dead... only I can see him... only I can hear him? Wait... I have to be the medium... I have to vocalize his feelings for this girl. She stared at me curiously waiting for an answer. "I... need to consult him first ... but maybe I can get him to meet up with you," I stated.

"Where is he?" She asked again. Her aggressive tone was scaring me.

"I ... don't know... I only have a contact number." I answered, telling her the least crazy-sounding version of the truth.

"Give me his number, now!" Her voice was testy and I pulled away from her.

"I need to make sure you're the right person first." Her eyes watered more.

"Then why did you even speak to me? If you're going to be a useless b*tch then leave!" She slammed the door, leaving me dumbfounded. I left the college campus and went straight home after that. Miguel was standing in the living room talking to a man with long black hair with blue tips. He was wearing a regal-looking suit, all midnight blue. Miguel was also talking to another man with a golden complexion, white hair, and shining yellow eyes. He wore all white but only a white T-shirt, jeans, and was barefoot.

"Oh look she's back." The man with black hair stated in a hateful tone, cutting his eyes towards me and frowning.
