New Work City

đŸŽ”I hurt myself today

To see if I still feel

I focus on the pain

The only thing that's realđŸŽ”

Somewhere in the city that doesn't sleeps someone played the Johnny Cash song as a drunk Esther Parker with her messy short blonde hair walked up the stairwell of a well known Hotel with only one objective in her mind, to end her life.

She pushed the door to the roof open so the Dark New York sky could greet her properly. The cold wind felt like needles on her tear soaked drunk face.

Her long white jacket didn't do any justice to her thin structure either. She climbed up the concrete water tank to gain more height.

She looked at the bright line of colours on her right towards the East River, The Brooklyn Bridge.

It looked so beautiful.

It looked so perfect.

The traffic must be less busier than usual at this moment, because everyone's at home on Thanksgiving.

Went back from their everyday perfect dream job to their perfect loved one or their perfect family.

Perfect.

She had been called a nerd, over cautious, too forward, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.

But she had never been called Perfect.

She was never perfect;

For anyone.

Well, she didn't had a perfect life either.

Born and raised in a small village in Texas. Surrounded by small minded people who thought women are made ONLY for serving food and warming up the bed.

She was the unplanned, Eldest daughter of Pamela and Richard Parker, conceived before their marriage.

Her Twin brother Jimmy and the only son of the Parker's was a no doubt jerk and an 'Idiot' and was somehow not unplanned.

His greatest achievements could be listed as:

1. Screwing Alison Hall, the school slut, only because he was in school's football team and she vowed to, in her own words "screw them all".

2. Breaking the record of Willy Wilkins "Who can take most grapes in your mouth".

#RIP_English

3. Giving the SAT even though he didn't pass, but it was indeed a great deal for him.

Still he had been the eye-candy of her parents.

Her mother worked in the local Church and was an absolute Baptist.

His father was an alcoholic and owned one of the first cow insemination farm.

Her younger sister Nicole was a perfect explanation of a 'Bitch'.

Like her elder brother she wasn't very keen to education either and fancied to be an actress like Marilyn Monroe ironically someone Esther admired very much. And had always found a way to get her into trouble.

Last time Esther heard from her was when she had called Esther for money to pay her rent in LA and that's been almost a year now.

She had an aunt.

Elene Smith, she was kinda her mentor, bad-ass, didn't gave a shit about the world, she did what she felt like and was exactly opposite of a Christian (even though her name meant a lot for the religion).

Esther still remembered her saying,

"Listen up Es, this world is full of Men's shit, if you want something don't wait till some man show petty on you and hand it to you. If you want it then snatch it. Now go fetch me my paper rolls will ya? I just got my hands on some good stash, wanna have a puff?"

Eventually that was her last batch of stash she could smoke, figuratively and literally.

Then there's Jimmy Jr or Jim her 3 year old nephew.

Jimmy(her brother) apparently married the actual girl next door Lilly Edwards who was an absolute carbon copy of Esther's mother.

Even though Esther wasn't exactly a 'fan' of Lily, she loved little Jim.

He was innocent, clever and made adorable jewellery of flowers. In fact he was the only one she could be willing to go back right now.

But it's too late now.

Her job sucked, her social life sucked, and her love life? Well that's a disaster and would take another chapter

'It ends now. All of it ends now.'

She stepped towards the edge of the tank, when it struck her like a lightning bolt, she had Acrophobia.

Her feet's started trembling.

Her fear of heights possessed her.

She sat down for a moment to breathe, then proceeded by crawling on her knees.

She moved a little forward, then stopped, scared to look down.

"All right God" she said to the cold night "Last chance. If you don't want me to come up there and eat your brains out then you can send someone to stop me and I will consider not jumping, also if you can get me the job of the Junior Editor .

She waited for five minutes.

She waited for ten minutes.

She wondered if she is even going to meet the God.

'What if I am going to hell?'

Alright then death it is.

She turned around and started crawling backward towards the edge.

She winced when she felt the hollow end.

"LAST CHANCE.....TAKE IT...O-OR..... LEAVE IT.

EVEN A GUSH OF WIND WILL WORK"

She yelled out. But somehow even the high winds stopped blowing. She again waited and waited and waited but nothing happened

At last she lost her temper and stood up, pointed her finger up on the sky and started cursing the 'Almighty'

"SO YOU WANNA PLAY DIRTY HUH? YOU SICK SON OF A BITCH!!!!!!!!!

YOU WANNA PLAY? HUH!?

I WILL SHOW YOU HOW TO PLAY.

I WILL GO TO HELL AND WILL MAKE SATAN KICK YOUR HOLY ASS. AM GONNA SHOVE..."

Suddenly a gush of wind came and Esther felt like a push on her face and she tripped over the edge and fell.

"I DON'T WANNA DIE.

I DON'T WANNA DIE.

GOD I DON'T WANNA DIE.

PLEASE SAVE ME.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE SOMEONE SAVE ME.

PLEASEEEEEEEE...."

She cried out grabbing the edge of the tank at the right moment of her life.

Her arms were aching in pain. She was loosing the grip. Any moment she would loose it and fall down to the solid, cold, concrete ground underneath her.

And finally the last ounce of her energy gave up on her and her fingers lost the grip. She started to fall down, the wind rushing through her hair, her adrenaline at her peak, her whole life flashed before her.

Jimmy, Nicole, her parents, her childhood memories, her aunt Elene, her boyfriend, little Jim, her job, and....she felt a sudden halt.

Her eyes were closed, for a moment she didn't felt anything.

'Am I dead already?' she thought 'Well that was quick. But wait...'

She can still feel the wind messing her hair. She felt a pain on her wrist. She opened her eyes to the Brooklyn bridge on the far. She's still their.

'On mid air? Am I flying?'

No she is saved.

Someone saved her life.

But by whom?
