1 FREAK

Early in the morning, an alarm clock wakes up a young man named Tj Evens. He let's out a sigh, gets out of bed and starts working out. He does push ups, sit ups, pull ups, and throws a few punches and kicks at a sandbag. He then looks over at a picture of him as a kid and his grandfather on his dresser and smiles, but then slowly remembers what happened to him and looks away.

Few minutes later he's walking down the street with hoodie and headphones on. As he walks, he sees multiple eyes staring at him, and even though he has his headphones on, he can hear people whispering about him. Tj tries to ignore them and continues to walk forward to school. He then hears a loud scream behind him. He quickly turns around and sees a car speeding down the street with two people chasing after it.

"My daughter's in that car!" A woman yells.

Tj's eyes open wide as he sees the car heading for a train that isn't going to stop. His eyes then starts to glow bright blue and his body starts to be surrounded by energy sparks. Before anyone can even react, Tj rockets down the street in a blue flash and stops the car with one hand as the train passes through. The woman quickly runs to the car, puts on the parking brake, pulls her daughter out of the car and hugs her with tears in her eyes.

"Oh, my sweet baby, Thank you, thank you so much. Bless you." The woman says, as a slight smile appears on Tj's face.

The husband runs over, kisses her daughter's forehead, then scowls at the young man. As the man walks towards him, Tj's smile soon fades away.

"What the hells the matter with you!? You could have killed my daughter, freak!" He yells, pushing Tj back.

"Patrick, please. He saved Elena's life."

The husband stares at Tj and scoffs

"Damn unnatural." He says, leaving with his family in a hurry. Tj sighs, seeing even more eyes stare at him. He puts back on his headphones and hood and quickly walks away.

Later on, when Tj walks into school, all the kids stare at him just like everyone else on the street. A girl with black hair, and all black clothes then stands beside him.

"Come on people, you see him everyday! You don't have to keep staring at him! He's an unnatural, get over it!" She yells, grabbing Tj by the arm and walking to their lockers.

She then pulls out her phone and shows him a video of him using his powers today.

"What happened to keeping a LOW profile?" She asks.

Tj smirks then opens his locker.

"I had no choice, Cass. A kid was in trouble and I just- reacted."

"Yeah well, you've been reacting for the past three weeks. And is anyone ever grateful? Nope. They just call you a freak and walk off, not even a thank you for saving their lives."

Tj smiles.

"Actually I did get a thank you this time."

"Well one out of one hundred isn't bad." Cass jokingly says.

"Look it doesn't matter if people are grateful or not, I can't just stand by and leave people hanging. These powers might suck sometimes, but helping people is the only way I can make sure it's not a total waste. I owe it to my grandpa."

Cass smiles at Tj, then jokingly punches him in the arm.

"I know, dummy. Man being your best friend is not easy." Cass says.

Tj chuckles.

"Cass, you're my only friend." Tj replies.

"That makes me the best by default."

As the two share a laugh, a football hits Tj in the head. Three football players then walk by, laughing.

"Sorry. Freak." Tommy Sanders says, highfiving his football friends.

Cass scoffs and Tj sighs.

"What a dick. You could have caught that." Cass says.

"Yeah, but that would just cause more problems." Tj says with a smile.

The young man then looks over and stares at a beautiful girl with red hair and green eyes. Cassandra notices this and smirks.

"You're staring at Rachel Martin again." She says.

"I'm not staring. I'm- admiring from a far."

"I think that's worse."

The two chuckle.

"You know she's dating Tommy, right?"

Tj sighs and smiles at his friend.

"It's hard to forget when you remind me, EVERY day."

"I'm just making sure- you don't get your hopes up."

"Don't worry, I get the message. No one wants to date a freak."

"You know that's not what I meant."

Tj sighs.

"Yeah I know. We better get to class."

The two then walk to their classroom.
