20 A change of heart

"Red, be prepared! We are coming. Master Akki has been shot at the back. He is unconscious now." Lawrence said over the phone. The call was short. Then, he accelerated the speed of the car.

"What? Why are we not going to the hospital? It's near from here! He is losing a lot of blood!" Zowie almost roared.

"I am sorry Mistress but Master Akki will not allow any other doctors to take care of him, except for Dr. Red Robert. The doctor who also treated you. He trusted Dr. Red more than the most expert and genius doctor in this world." He calmly reasoned.

"If that's the case then be it. Is he here in D city?" She was curious how come the doctor would be in the city as well, if he was really in the city.

"Yes Mistress, Dr. Red is already in the city. He was with us in another car a while ago as we leave the S city. His car took another direction as we entered in this city. Master Akki ordered Dr. Red to stay in the secret villa Master Akki owned."

"Why? Did he know about those goons' possible attack?"

"No Mistress, Master Akki is always like this. He always wants Dr. Red to accompany him in his trips in case of emergencies. In the same way, he had exclusive villa in every city."

'Woah! Is this man for real? A doctor in every trip and a villa in every city across the country? My husband is crazy rich and clever!' Zowie was amazed by his husband's power and wit.

"He even made this trip extra careful by bringing two other cars today to keep your safety Mistress. And.." Lawrence wanted to tell her Akki's personal reason of always having Dr. Red in his trip but he thought he might be going too far on telling her about that.

"And I am sorry if we have failed to protect you and Master Akki on this incident Mistress." He added instead.

"Don't be sorry Lawrence. You are outnumbered by those people and you have tried your bests. Sadly , they died protecting me and Akki. But I am also totally fine ,which means you have successfully protected me except Akki." She earnestly said with a sadness on her face.

"Are we still far from the villa?" She was still bothered of Akki's condition.

"Less than two minutes and we're there Mistress!" He assured her.

They went into a closely guarded villa. The place was located in a secluded area.

Red immediately ordered his team to take Akki abruptly to his improvised operating room.

"I am sorry Mrs. Araneta but you have to stay with Lawrence." He said to Zowie before following the men who took Akki in.

Zowie wanted to protest but she had no choice Dr. Red had already left.

Lawrence brought her to the living room of the villa. It was almost lunch when Dr. Red went to them.

"Master Akki is safe now. Luckily, his shot was not delicate. His body collapsed from exhaustion and from losing a lot of blood. I have already given him blood transfusion. He just need to rest." Dr. Red explained right away.

"When will he wake up?" Zowie asked. She was a bit relaxed now after hearing the news.

"I am not sure Mrs. Araneta, but anytime today he will probably wake up." Dr. Red tried to give her the reason not to worry. "Lawrence, we have to privately talk for a minute. Excuse us for a while Mrs. Araneta. By the way, you can see Master Akki when Lawrence get back. He will accompany you to his room."

"Thank you Dr. Red." Zowie felt she needed to say that.

Then, Lawrence and Dr. Red left together.

'I am happy that you are out from danger now Akki.' Her heart can now calmly breath.

After a minute Lawrence came back. He took Zowie at Akki's room. And there was Akki softly sleeping with some apparatus on his body.

Zowie immediately went to him and took his hand. She felt sorry for him.

She was sitting there on his side for half an hour now.

"Sorry to interrupt you Mistress, but you need to have your lunch now." Lawrence sounded. He could see how Zowie looked at Akki. There was a hint of worry and care in her eyes.

"Thank you but I don't have the appetite yet." She responded without taking her eyes off on Akki's face.

"But Master Akki will not be happy by this Mistress ." Lawrence worriedly said.

"Don't worry, I will have it later." She directly answered.

"But Mistress you…" Lawrence stopped from trying to convince her when Zowie gave him an intense look.

"I am sorry Mistress. If you need anything, I will be outside." He automatically uttered. ' She is as stubborn as him. Master Akki had finally met his match.' He was stunned and excited with the idea.

Zowie did not hear what Lawrence said. She was engrossed of how to make it up to her husband.

"Thank you for saving my life. You deserve a better woman and I'll make sure to give the best of me." Zowie could not wait for Akki to wake up to say those words.

'I promise to be sincere and true to you from now on. I will give you my genuine heart. And I hope and pray that by it, your heart will be soften, so that it can listen even if what I hold is the story from my mother. I know that the success of this plan may not be certain but this is the best way that I can think of to finish my mission without hurting you. Because I want to believe you are a good man after what you did today.' She was now determined to fully win over his heart.

It was already dark and Akki was still not giving any signs of waking.

"Mistress, you really need to eat and rest now. Master Akki will get worried if he will see you like this. He will definitely get stressed from scolding me. I am begging you Mistress." Lawrence was pleading now.

Zowie felt a little pity for Lawrence.

"I will just personally inform you as soon as Master Akki wakes up." He added.

"Okay." She said before planting a kiss at Akki's forehead. 'Get well soon hubby.'

Zowie stood up. She went to the room prepared for her after she had already eaten a handful amount of food. She could feel her body powerless. She felt the urged to rest her mind and body for a moment.

After making sure that Zowie was resting in her room, Lawrence went to Akki's room right away.

"Master Akki, it's Lawrence. Mistress was now resting in her room."

As soon as Akki heard Lawrence, he slowly opened his eyes. Then, he gave him a cold stare.

"I am sorry for keeping you waiting for this long Master Akki. Mistress is very hard to be persuaded." Lawrence explained.
