Meeting the Means

AN:

Luxion speech: ["Oh no, what a tragedy.]

[Luxion, registered]

Hearing the confirmation I sighed as I sat down on the chair next to the console.

[I still am quite curious about you, how exactly have you come to be?]

Finally getting time to relax, I thought I might as well humor the AI.

"I'm not exactly sure, but it may pertain to the fact that my origin is not that of this world, but of the United States. I died one day and found myself in this body." The good thing about this existence was the fact that it was something of marginal human capacity that I could tell things to.

[So something of reincarnation? How very interesting.]

"Yes, thankfully, the content of this world is something that appeared in multiple forms of Japanese media that I consumed when I was still living, that is how I came to know of you and the existence of old humans." I didn't really think to filter out any of what I was saying. What reason would I need to, it was from what I could tell under my control, and even if it wasn't all I was saying could only serve to strengthen its 'loyalty'.

[I see, so you have knowledge of the past do you, and not just that, you have some of the future too.]

"Yes but don't rely on that too much, what I know has faded very significantly."

[Ah yes, the brain capacity for humans has always been quite limited, I can only imagine that it has decreased even more for New Humans.]

"Did you just call me stupid?"

[The new master can comprehend basic speech.] The overly sarcastic tone Luxion adopted made my eyes twitch.

"Whatever, just tell me about what you can do?"

[Your memory must already be failing you. I am an artificial intelligence with my primary reason for existence being to stand by here and upon the inevitable defeat of my creators, find a time to strike and kill off the New Humans.]

[As for 'what I can do' my main 'part' is that of this ship and as such I can control every function in this place. On top of that, I have various functions that allow for the creation and programming of robotic helpers and other technology my creators have taught me.]

[I have the ability to create any kind of material from most other kinds of materials.]

"Woah, woah… wait there… you can what?"

We are not about to skip over that.

[Whether it be a rock or diamond I can turn it into gold or dirt. My creators built me with sustainability in mind you see.]

He seemed quite proud of that fact, as his voice fluctuated quite a bit.

"Mhm yup yup yup, let's make sure we make really good use of that ability in particular. Begin production of gold, you Luxion, will be making me a very rich man." My grind widened to never before seen proportions as I spun around in my chair.

[Yes, because creating gold is definitely the best use of my capabilities. I will begin production immediately.]

I didn't even care for the sarcasm, I was gonna be rich, well even richer than I was already.

[Master, I have detected the airship you used to travel here turned on its head, I believe it is stuck.]

"Well, you wouldn't be wrong. The transportation I used to get here was a bit rough." Coming down from my high I said as I stood up. The world swirled around me, a consequence of my excessive spinning.

[Well what can you expect from the design of New Humans? Might I request the production of a new ship?]

"Yeah, I suppose I would need a new one. Do that, and add whatever you believe I'd need. In the meantime get the robots to help flip over the vessel I used to get here. I really am short on time."

[Understood, production is estimated to take around three days, is that suitable?]

"Woah that fast? That's fine." I said as I began heading out.

Following behind me was a small metal ball with a red orb in the center.

[If you are okay with it, I'd prefer to use this medium to travel with you. I'd like to see this new world if you don't mind.]

"Whatever come on." It'd be nice to have him close for whenever I needed him. Especially if it didn't slow down production.

The original rulers of Holfort Kingdom were those who found great success in the practice of adventuring. With such a past, it is no wonder the idolization of the profession has remained to this day.

I say this because it pertains heavily to how I plan on achieving a noble title.

The discovery of a new island. In this vast world, there was much land left undiscovered. In such a world offering unclaimed land to the kingdom was obviously a big deal. It was an expansion of territory after all.

LP: 21,250

'As expected my satisfaction as of recently had been through the roof.'

I think as I stand with my arms crossed, looking through one of the windows of my ship at the floating island in front of me.

In terms of size, I'd say it was quite a bit bigger than my family's main island. It had mountains and hills covering the entire place as well as flat land on the edges.

I had discovered this place on my way to the location of Luxion. Originally, I planned to move Luxion in its entirety to some place different and give away the island but this development was better.

Plus, even after the territory becomes a part of the Holfort Kingdom, it will be recognized as my territory as I was the one who discovered it. Thank God for the rights of adventurers.

As I landed my ship I began exploring the place. I wouldn't start building until later, for now, I just needed to mark its location.

I only stopped my exploration when the sunset. The trip back was relaxing though it wasn't lacking in insults from Luxion regarding the design of the ship.

In total, the round trip took three days which meant I got back just in time that the ship and gold I requested had finished right when I arrived.

Seeing all the gold I nearly wanted to dive into it. I specified that I wanted the production to include a variety such as necklaces and other jewelry. It'd be weird if all I had was bars of gold to sell.

With everything I needed to officially gain my freedom in the bag, I just needed to rush home.

And thankfully, the airship Luxion made did that wonderfully.

The airship has an exterior and interior design with an appropriate setup for the otome games world's setting. The main hull resembles a cruise liner with a spacious top deck. The ship has two main airbags attached to either side.

At the fore-end, the airship sports a high cane spoon bow and the feature its forward-firing primary armaments. On both the topside and underside as well as the port and starboard, there are several propellers of various sizes for elevation.

(AN: Yes, this is the description for partner in the original. I am shamelessly unoriginal.)

The thing was huge, like really fucking big. It completely dwarfed my ship.

I had decided on the name Stellar, as a sort of reference to me, with Stellar meaning star and my last name being Stardia.

Even with how big the thing was, the speed it moved at was unprecedented. Before I knew it I was pulling up at my home just after a few hours from leaving the island.

In total, I had spent only around 8 days off of my family island.

As expected with how quickly I returned everyone was shocked, even more so by the sheer size of my ship and the amount of gold compacted on it.

That night I had thrown a celebratory party with my family as we ate the absolute best food money could buy.

Afterward, I had sent my father to deliver the news of my acquisition of the undiscovered island to the royal court.

It took a few days for them to confirm my claims and return back.

For around 2 weeks nothing much happened and I was beginning to worry that I hadn't done enough or I had failed.

Those thoughts proved wrong though when finally, with close to a week before Agatha promised to return with the contract, a ship bearing the royal crest showed up at our port.

"As a representative of the king and the royal court, I hear-by declare Noir Fou Stardia the title of Baron, and the rank of upper rank 6."

The man who came via ship left just as quickly after he listed my accomplishments and gave me a letter detailing everything.

[That was underwhelming.] Luxion remarked as we watched the ship depart.

"Who cares, I'm a free man at last." I danced in my spot as the grin on my face refused to leave.

'With that, I just need to watch that bitch's face fall when she realizes all her plans have gone to waste.'

[With that, I assume you can submit your application for enrollment into the academy, right?]

"Excited are we? And yes, I've already prepared everything I'd need though I do still have a bit of time to kill." And by a bit of time, I meant over a year.

I was forced to rush everything because of that annoying bitch, but now it seemed I might be able to finally rest.

Colonizing my island, training, stockpiling LP. I had time for it all.

I also had time to think. My main purpose for my actions so far had not yet been completed. I still needed to make sure that woman suffered just as much as my family had.

It hadn't yet come to me but I'm sure it would eventually.

Outside of that, however, I had decided on another goal. To truly live my life.

Some part of me during this whole fiasco had been viewing this world as fiction. It seemed though, though, that part of me was slowly starting to come to terms with reality.

I was in a new world, with a new body. I didn't have much going on in my past life, but with what I had been given and what I got for myself, in this one, my goal remained the same as it was.

It really was quite simple. To live a life the way you wanted to live it. To be rich, to be important. It was a goal that the past me had long since given up on, but one that had been rekindled.

Screw the plot, to hell with the future. I wasn't some mob in a video game. I'll live the way I want, for my own pleasure and satisfaction.

AN: The next chapter will be the epilogue for this volume. There I will wrap things up with Agatha and focus on slice-of-life elements.

The next volume will be set within the academy. I won't say too much here as I think I may do a volume 1 author notes.

Until next time…

PS. Give me powerstones… I wanna get on the rankings.
